Based on that recommendation, I paid Eric another $4,200 in total to handle two cases. Nearly five years later, I am still repeatedly going to court over an old case involving approximately $34 worth of merchandise from Walmart. I provided documentation of treatment, 90 days of NA meetings, a theft-awareness program, and three negative hair-follicle tests. Despite paying thousands of dollars, I still don't know what meaningful motions, investigation, defenses, or negotiations have actually been pursued on my behalf. To my knowledge, the State provided the discovery without counsel having to pursue it. Now I am being told the State wants the maximum sentence while an open plea to the judge is being discussed. I understand that attorneys cannot guarantee results. My complaint is about the representation I personally experienced: poor communication, little explanation of what was being done, and very little visible advocacy for the money I paid. I paid a total of $4,200 and still owe 700.When your freedom is on the line, you expect to know how your attorney is fighting for you. I did not feel that I received that level of representation. I got behind on my mortgage and when in bankruptcy it's worse than being a regular homeowner, essentially I had less than 30 days to provide ~$3500 to my trustee. I was trying to figure out the best course of action and didn't get much of an answer. My hearing was on a Monday and I heard from the attorney Friday night at 9pm. Then one month later my car has a blown head gasket. I have to purchase a new car- again, in bankruptcy this is a whole process and you're obviously not treated like a normal borrower. In the state of Missouri it is supposed to take approximately 21 days to have a Motion to Obtain debt approved by a judge. Next week will be 90 days & I'm out here taking Ubers to work. There's a huge lack of communication from this office. When they want their money they couldn't care less about your personal hardships and you must pay NOW but when you need something they expect you to be patient and understanding....people quit, somebody is working 12 hour days, somebody has medical issues etc. I thought I paid them to work for me?? But I was wrong.
