Skydiving, jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, free-falling - some might say tempting fate -…read morehas been on my "to do before I croak list" for over 20 years (hence the reason I didn't call it a bucket list - the movie came out much later). So when a girlfriend asked me if I would do it with her I was all over it! Then I was so excited about it I thought to myself "Surely there are more of my friends that want to do this!" and posted it on FB. Between Karen and myself we each brought several friends and had a group of 11. Our reservation was made for 8/13 at 3pm. Initially it was just pure excitement to get to check this off of my list. But as the jump got closer I started to get just a tad nervous. All of the "what if's" crept into my noggin so by the night before I had posted on FB and expressed my love for my family and friends "just in case". I had offers to take my dog, others expressing their love for me back, and tons of people encouraging the jump. We arrived at MRVS and are greeted by James, a quick witted, smiley fella that couldn't have been more fun. After all the check-in's, signing our lives away, and waiting for our turn we were warned that they may not have enough time in the day to get through all of us so we needed to decide who wouldn't mind coming another time if it came to that. Of course that immediately gave each of us pause because we had let them know up front - and as people were added - that we originally had a group of 8 and no one told us that was a possibility. However, in their defense they couldn't have known that others in the jumps before us would bring extra people - causing an initial backlog anyway. With that said, these folks were very accommodating and did everything they could to ensure we all jumped before the sun went down. The only one that didn't get to jump was over the weight limit - which was clearly posted on their website, on the Groupon information and again when you got there. Even though we had a large group and they were trying to get all of us our jumps, safety was never compromised at all. Janelle, the gal packing (and repacking and repacking and repacking :P) never rushed. She was very methodically packing, taking her time to ensure our safe landing. Wes got us in and talked to all of us about what our part was and how to arch so we landed like a coffee filter (hahaha!). Each instructor has their own way of doing things but I was lucky enough to fly with Steve strapped to my back (very intimately I might add..LOL). Remember - arch, relax and have fun. And if you forget to arch - relax and have fun! (See Steve - when I could hear you I was intently listening!). I had no fear. Zero, zip, zilch, nada. All because everyone there made me feel safe. I enjoyed my experience so much that I would have paid to go again if there had been time. The day after my jump I restarted reading a book I had put down a couple of months ago - the title of the chapter that I was reading was "Fear Is For Suckers" and had the quote - "We tiptoe through life hoping to safely make it to death." - Unknown Seemed very appropriate. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they were running pretty late. Other than that this was a completely awesome experience! I highly recommend these folks for your jump!

During a weekend when my parents were visiting from Minnesota, they stayed at the Drury Inn, which…read moreis right next to Ifly. I had heard of it before, but had never really checked into it. Being sort of an adventurous fella, my dad thought it would be a good idea to check it out. We walked over to Ifly on a Saturday to see about pricing and what it all involves. We get there, and the lobby is fairly full of people all checking in. They ask us for a reservation number, which of course we didn't have one. They told us that Saturday was booked solid, but if we wanted to give it a go, we could make a reservation for Sunday. My Dad (64) and my daughter (7) signed up for a package that would give them both 4 1 minute flights for approx 120 dollars each. We left, and came back at our reserved time. They got them checked in, and quickly suited up. While the group before them was doing their flight, my daughter and dad watched a training video and listened to the instructor that was going to be in there with them tell them about how you should position yourself, what sort of hand signals he will give while in flight, and just an overview of everything. When it was time for them to go in, they gave them the option of the 4 1 min flights, or 2 2 min flights, they also offered the "high fly" option for an extra $10 -20 per person. They decided since they wouldn't get a chance to do this often, that it was worth the extra scratch to do that option. The flight gets going, and they had a blast. I noticed everyone else in their group had only signed up for the 2 1 min flights, and IMO you get a lot more out of that extra min. It usually takes about 10-15 secs to get you in, and stabilized, and those with only a 1 long flight, they got about 20-30 seconds of flight time before the 10 sec warning counter went off, and they were escorted to the exit door. the 2 min flights seemed to be able to get way more acclimated to the flight and give you some time to enjoy it before it is over. All in all it was a great experience for both my old man and my daughter. I would have went as well, but I was just about to have surgery 2 days later, and didn't want to do anything that would put that in jeopardy. I highly recommend the instructors here, the only real downside is the cost. It is pretty expensive for the amount of time you actually get to experience in the wind tunnel. Basically $30 a minute

Just got back from iFLY Indoor Skydiving in Kansas City and I'm giving it 2 stars…read more Yes, the actual flying part is fun. The instructors are friendly and do their best, and the experience itself is something different. But the way they handle certain things, especially around weight, is honestly pretty uncomfortable. If you're over 260 lbs, you need two handlers in the tunnel, which is fine in theory, but the way it's brought up feels like an afterthought. They tell you while you're signing the waiver, in front of everyone, which can feel awkward and borderline embarrassing. It's technically disclosed, but not in a way that feels respectful or well-communicated ahead of time. On top of that, the customer service afterward has been terrible. We prepaid for three people, one couldn't fly, and we were told we'd get a refund. We've called three times and no one has bothered to call us back. That's not a small oversight, that's just poor follow-through. Also, don't expect this to be quick. It turns into a long, drawn out process with a lot of waiting. Overall, it could have been a great experience, but between the uncomfortable handling of weight requirements and the lack of response on a promised refund, it left a bad taste.
