Made sure I was totally comfortable and explained every step of everything she was doing! I've never felt that way about a dental appt before. The office was beyond beautiful and the technology was simply amazing! The dentist dr prensky was amazing as well! So down to earth and truly made me feel comfortable! Let that be clear. My review is for office staff. I have been trying to get in touch with the office manager for 8 business days now and told either she will be in "later" or she isn't in at all. I have also asked to speak to a specific staff member who I will not name who has helped me in the past and also told the same BS. She will be in later or she isn't in. This is 8 business days now. Two people. The customer service is HORRIBLE! I have asked to speak to someone in charge in place of this manager who doesn't seem to work there at all and told there is no one else in charge. Hopefully a bad Yelp review will grab someone's attention over there so the customer who has been there for years and had numerous dental work procedures done there can get some help!

Absolutely Traumatizing Experience - Avoid at All Costs…read more I had the misfortune of being referred to The Smilist Dental in Massapequa for a wisdom tooth extraction, and I cannot stress enough how awful the experience was, particularly with the oral surgeon. From my first visit, I was made to feel uncomfortable. The surgeon bluntly told me I was "too old" to be having a wisdom tooth removed and insisted I would have to pay $300 for a CT scan out-of-pocket, claiming my insurance "never covers it" based on "other patients" with the same provider. When I told the receptionist I wanted to check with my insurance first before paying, I was met with pushback and attitude, as well as a request to put a card on file "just in case", which I refused. Here's what really happened: I called my insurance, and they confirmed it would be covered pending prior authorization. When I called The Smilist back to tell them this, they were clearly annoyed. The CT scan ended up being covered 100%.. Which makes me wonder how many people they've pressured into paying out-of-pocket unnecessarily. Once the prior authorization was approved, I got two separate phone calls asking me to schedule an appointment I had already scheduled. When I told them I had one booked, I got attitude again. The procedure itself was horrific. The surgeon showed up over 30 minutes late. I was the first appointment of the day, with no apology or explanation. He walked in and immediately began stabbing my gums with Novocaine - no warning, no heads-up, just jab after painful jab. He was extremely rough, and I was physically gripping the chair in pain. During the procedure, he barked orders at his assistant (who, for the record, was the only decent person I encountered and it was clearly his first day on the job.), had him forcibly hold my chin despite a jaw jam already being in place, and carelessly scraped my other teeth with his tools. When he began drilling, I could feel it. I winced in pain and tried to indicate I wasn't numb yet. Instead of pausing or checking in properly, he poked my face and said, "Do you feel this?", then yelled "Ma'am!" in my ear when I couldn't answer fast enough (gee, maybe because I had a jaw spreader in my mouth and couldn't talk). Eventually, I was given more Novocaine, but the lack of empathy and professionalism was staggering. Aftercare? Even worse. My face is extremely swollen, more than any dental procedure I've ever had, and I'm still in significant pain two days later. I can barely talk without discomfort. To top it all off, the surgeon prescribed me ibuprofen for the pain despite telling me at my first appointment that he couldn't prescribe that to me due to a previous surgery I've had. He knew I couldn't take it and prescribed it anyway. That level of carelessness is absolutely unacceptable. The only positive in this entire nightmare was the assistant, who did his best to help and stay calm despite the toxic environment. This was one of the most unprofessional, painful, and emotionally draining medical experiences I've ever had. I would never recommend this surgeon or location to anyone. Save yourself the pain and go somewhere that actually respects and listens to their patients.

We were looking for a place with laser frenectomy option after our infant previously had a tongue…read moretie procedure via scissor (at a different practice) and we didn't see the full improvement we had hoped for. I first found Adelberg Montalvan via a Google search and was impressed by the great reviews, and then Dr. Bennet was specifically recommended for frenectomies by a mom in a breastfeeding class I attend. We had the pleasure of meeting both Dr. Adam and Dr. Bennet and were very happy with both the complimentary consults we were afforded as well as the procedure itself and the follow-up. The Office - Wow, this place is a kid's dream! iPads with games in the waiting room and a custom designed undersea theme bursting with fun marine life popping out of walls and ceilings throughout the office. Photos hardly do it justice - you really have to see the toothy shark archway in person to understand. It's basically a fun, thoughtful, kid-friendly environment and play space that also happens to be a dentist's office. There are even ceiling TVs above dental chairs to keep kids occupied when getting work done. The Staff - From the receptionists we spoke to on the phone (including when we were running late that one time...), to the front desk staff, to the medical staff, everyone we have encountered has been accommodating, kind, and down to earth. You can often tell a lot about a practice by the staff they hire, and all of our interactions have been super positive. Not to mention the ease of booking appointments, convenient availability, and their understanding of the crazy (and oft unpredictable) schedules of new parents. The Dentists - I can only speak to Dr. Adam and Dr. Bennet, but like the staff, it seems clear the doctors here really have their hearts in what they do, enjoy it, have fun doing it, and are passionate about helping kids. You can tell just walking around the office, and certainly with our own baby, that they are great with kids. They are also smart, knowledgeable, patient, and appropriately cautious with care recommendations. Re the latter, we appreciated that they didn't push us to do any procedures, but made sure we had more than enough information to make an informed decision about what would be best for our baby. We also had the unusual luck of our first consult being with Dr. Adam, who usually works out of a different location, and a follow-up consult with Dr. Bennet, and they were very open about having slightly different opinions about how we may wish to proceed, ultimately leaving the final decision up to us. In the end, we opted to have both lip and remainder of tongue tie released. The procedure was quick and simple by a very skilled Dr. Bennet who also clearly demonstrated and explained follow-up exercises and home care. Only one week later, our baby is already showing vast improvements in feeding. Our one-week checkup with Dr. Bennet showed that baby is healing very well. Given that, like the procedure itself, it was left up to us whether we wanted to continue to follow-up with the Dr., or only return if there was some unexpected issue. Dr. Bennet was incredibly inviting and genial in welcoming us to return for another follow-up (at no extra cost), and we look forward to returning. This may be the longest review I've ever written, but that's because this place is worth it. Although our baby doesn't have teeth yet, when he does, this is definitely where we'll take him for any pediatric dentistry needs.

Initially, he saved my teeth when I had problems from a former dentist. In 2012, I was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML) which caused my teeth to decay due to the effects of two bone marrow transplants resulting in Graph Versus Host disease (GVHD). He coordinated his care with an Oral Pathologist & Oral Surgeon to determine if I could undergo implants. I've had seven implants which took a year to complete. I now have a full set of teeth again. He and his staff are so caring and the quality of what he did could not be any better. His treatment plan was amazing with a computer picture detailing every process for a year. He also arranged a financial plan to ease that burden. I would not hesitate to recommend him. If you want the best care, you will get it from him and his staff!
