Wow! I have had the worst experience with this business. I am trying to file for a DBA, and this…read morecompany cannot follow through with what they are saying. I spoke with a gentleman who tried to assist me, but maybe should have just referred me over to the correct department, because my paperwork was missing information that he did not know about. Once I was able to get ahold of the correct department after two tries, which shouldnt be that hard. Time is money people. I finally spoke with Mic, who was more focused on her needs than mine. I have been trying to file my DBA through this company for about 2 weeks now. And instead of them accommodating to me (the paying customer) I instead am accommodating to them. I just can't believe they expect me to pay them for this. I called them ready to work and get things accomplished. I don't feel that is reciprocated. I shouldn't have to ask you do do your job and follow up with you. I will because I take my business and others seriously, but this is no where near a company I want to do business with. They have set my plans back!!!

While they mainly publish books for local authors (short stories, poems, fiction and non fiction), they were open on art night giving away free books (pre-prints), had a kids activity (making a super hero mask), and had the author of one of their books teach folks about how to make homemade tortillas and try out organic tequila. While I was bummed that they don't actually press the books here (done in Chicago), as a non-author I enjoyed checking out their exhibit on the process of book publishing including cover design and other cool art night activities and will keep them in mind if we ever need to rent space

Chefs, Food Columnists, and Editors assembled for: "A…read moreCelebration of (the now defunct) Gourmet Magazine": Like an Irish wake, but they called it a celebration. Like a New Orleans funeral procession, self-congratulatory trombones blaring. Gourmet Magazine ceased publication in October '09 after an astonishing 7 decades. Assembled this evening in panel format, were a number of people closely associated with the venerable mag. Penetrating questions were not to be expected at this incestuous session packed with speakers who basically spent the last couple decades having food sex with one another. The Moderator: Evan Kleiman. Host of KCRW's 'Good Food', and owner of Angeli. Panelist: Ruth Reichl. Editor of Gourmet Magazine, former LA Times food editor Panelist: Laurie Ochoa. Editor of Gourmet, and LA Weekly Food Writer: Pulitzer Prize Winner Jonathan Gold. Gourmet Magazine, LA Weekly. I've noticed it's for some time become obligatory to introduce Jonathan Gold, as "Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Jonathan Gold" as if the entire title is actually part of his name. I find it reminiscent of an era, one or two financial scandals removed, when it was necessary to preface major swindler and escapee Robert Vesco's name, with the obligatory "Fugitive Financier Robert Vesco". Love you, Jonathan. I know you still have one or two arteries that remain unclogged. I know you are very much alive, while Robert Vesco is diseased, having passed away shamefully in a hot Caribbean country, perhaps eating the very food you so adore. Ruth Reichl discussed how their team of writers had dragged the famous but arthritic magazine kicking and screaming into a contemporary period. Food was no longer to be thought of as purely something to be plated. This was a new era, where food figured heavily into environmental and political issues. Panelists spoke of their love of Gourmet Magazine's amazing test kitchens. Fantastically equipped kitchens where chefs could tinker with recipes before publication. They described how travel junkets to explore foreign cuisines were no longer limited to food writers ensconcing themselves in a famous hotel in a far-flung capitol, and assuming the hotel food was representative of a nation. Rather, they were now given license to venture out into the provinces and sample to their hearts content. Food reviewers were to rid themselves of the idea they already knew everything about foreign cuisines. They were not only to educate the reading public, but use it as a broadening experience for themselves as well. Reichl said they had to introduce creative chaos into the system. Gold spoke about following food obsessions, and how that lead to innovative writing. The legacy of Gourmet Magazine will remain. The test kitchens are apparently still intact ... described as 'lonely and unused'. The Library of 3500 cookbooks is being donated to NYU. Plans are in the works to preserve the magazine on discs. The website remains ... sans updates. gourmet.com The recipies are still there on Epicurious.com. * * * * * The forum was a one time event that took place at the Skirball Cultural Center.

There were some issues and miscommunications with the services initially, but Gail, the person who was helping us, was really great about it. Glad I found the newspaper because they seem like a legit paper that has the real down to earth feel. Payment for their services was really easy and they take credit card. They have a lot of experience and they are very professional. Great for posting name changes, fictitious business names, ads, etc. I highly recommend them because they are a great newspaper and have great competitive prices. You can email them and they've got a lot of information on their website. Though I'd say calling is the best because they have that great real person communication that I really don't see a lot of these days. Their number is (213)-629-2231 . Unlike the other companies I called, they were prompt to pick up the phone and quick with their responses.
