2013 was my 5th Glastonbury (2nd with no mud!)
I cant recommend the festival enough, its the daddy of uk festivals. Glastonbury is over a1000 acres and has about 20 stages and 400+ acts covering most types of music. As its a performing arts festival, as well as music there are circus and caberet areas, green and healing areas where you can chill, get a massage and learn about green issues
The festival opens on a Wednesday to the following Sunday with main days of bands being Weds-Sun. Nowadays nearly 3/4 of the 135,000 ticket holders arrive on the wednesday to get a good camping pitch, there are tipis and tents for hire if you would rather somebody else do the work
Unlike lots of festivals, once you are in Glastonbury, you are in the arena areas so you can take your own alcohol with you and not had it taken from you (like V festival), the festival is also 24./7 with areas that only come alive at night (Shangri-la, arcadia)
Top tip, take spare batteries for your mobile, I bought some for 2 each from eBay. Don't buy solar chargers for iPhones, even in great weather they barely work, get a battery charger from amazon (you charge before you go and charges your phone 4 times) there are charge tents but by Thursday the queues are massive read more
