Fantastic Google reviews brought me to Glaces Veneta while walking around Lausanne, and while the selection was impressive in this little ice cream hut, it didn't impress me like numerous other spots in Europe have primarily on account of not really deciding whether they should be dishing up ice cream or gelato.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
It's near impossible to beat the view from this tiny little shop, and the process is efficient and straight forward to get ice cream in hand. Friendly folks. Star.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
5,50 CHF for a generous scoop of ice cream in a cone. Fair enough.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
My scoop of Dulce de Leche confused me a bit. You've got ice cream - more fat, thicker, denser, and then you've got gelato - more sugar, more airy. What I had here was a sort of frankenstein between the two that honestly just came across melty ice cream. Good flavor, but poor consistency. Single Star.
Star 5: Would you be excited to go back?
For the view? Yes, but maybe not for the ice cream. No Star. read more
