Strait-forward and honest communication throughout project from Derek and Nicole was great. I have a small home in an historic district that needed structural repair, new siding and trim, and other attention. Derek's willingness to approach the project in sections to help me determine affordability options was a great stress reliever. The quality of work, his team of professionals, and his willingness to help navigate the historic requirements and restrictions was amazing! They worked to schedule-as unpredictable Adirondack weather allowed, and kept in close contact to keep me updated. I had looked into using LaFountain Builds earlier, but when I saw the level of work they do, I was certain I could not afford them. Big mistake! You definitely get what you pay for! I wasted a great deal of money and time going with someone else first that wasn't able to do the work and made things worse. Can't recommend LaFountain Builds enough! My house looks new and historically accurate at the same time!

Derek and his team demonstrated why they are considered master carpenters in the North Country. Their attention to detail is second to none--whether it was the precision of the finish work or the way they handled the structural elements of the remodel. They took our vision and elevated it, maintaining a clean, professional job site throughout. Derek was often able to make recommendations on upgrades such as insulation and wiring that will save us money in the future. If you want a contractor who communicates clearly and delivers high-end, bespoke craftsmanship, look no further than LaFountain Builds. We couldn't be happier with our 'new' home

I have had a lot of contractors from many trade work for me for upwards of 40 years and it is quite easy for me to say no company has ever exceeded my expectations in the way the Thwait company has. I highly recommend Bill and his Team to anyone (residential or commercial needs) who has an excavation / septic/ land management need. They work hard, smart and leave the job site in emasculate shape every day no matter how much they have to excavate to get your building or other site preparation project completed. For as long as I am on this side of the Earth, the Thwait company is my one and only choice for excavation work of any kind. Thanks for all you have done and we are not done yet! When the men put it in they did not include a new battery. Why do I want to keep an old battery in. Then a year later I had them service the generator and the maintenance man never started the generator. Every Wednesday the generator come on at 12 PM. It didn't come on. The battery was dead and the generator was sold to me with a bad controller. We really didn't have a generator working for a while. Learning about Northeast Construction & Custom Homes was a blessing in disguise!…read more It all started when we were moving into town. We had contacted Dave at Northeast Construction to come by and look at some work we needed done in a just purchased home. It was still winter. The movers that were hired to help never showed up, the driveway wasn't properly plowed and cars were stuck in the mud/snow! Dave immediately stepped in and got one of his plows to the property to clean up the driveway along with pulling the stuck cars from the muck. If that wasn't a good enough impression, he and his crew spent the rest of the day filling in for the movers, all the while with smiles upon their faces and lots of laughing and joking, by the end of the day he and his crew had successfully emptied two apartments in the next town, packed the truck and when we got to the new place, unpacked the truck and brought everything to where it belonged. Going above and beyond what could possibly have been expected, we knew right then that Northeast Construction headed by Dave C. was going to be the contractor we would be working with. Among the projects Dave has helped us with is building a stockade fence (In which he happily taught us how to do it ourselves), installing a sewer line, water line and electricity to a new out building that he helped us acquire, of which his crew also installed a pad for. In the few short weeks that we have worked with Dave and Northeast Construction, we have come to trust them implicitly and even consider them friends. Whenever they are needed or working on a project here, they are always on time, always explain costs and are always honest and generous with their skills and knowledge that not only includes construction but also landscaping, as Dave also has extensive knowledge of plants and such. There is not a crew in the area that I can honestly recommend more. We know that when we have them here to work on something, it will be done right the first time and made to last! They are all so genuine and down to earth, we consider them family and we are looking forward to getting them back on the property for more plumbing and electrical work, and a wee bit of carpentry! Give Dave at Northeast Construction a call, and don't even bother looking any further, he is the right man and they are the right crew for whatever job you need taken care of! Dave cares!!

By far the most unreliable and unprofessional contractor we worked with in our build. Not only were…read moreDonnie and Austin unresponsive throughout the majority of the process, but their work was unacceptable and downright lazy. Our unit was installed 5 feet from an outside wall and they decided to only run the exhaust. Even though we had an air tight, spray foamed home, they made a conscious choice to not run a fresh air intake and have the entire system suck air in from av sealed concrete basement. Second, and I'm not an HVAC expert, but one of the simplest parts to install would seem to be the filter. They decided to install the filter box underneath an elbow joint where you literally cannot get a filter in without folding it in half. There is no other way to describe it but pure laziness. Not lastly, but the last thing worth mentioning, was the wiring of the system itself. For the first month the fan ran 24/7, and according to them they were waiting on a call from the factory to figure out what was wrong. Multiple follow ups by me - never from them and all of a sudden they had it fixed. After multiple no call no shows I finally had enough and told them not to come back, and had someone qualified come in. With no background, they asked me if I had any idea why the fan wires would be unhooked?? That was their fix, to completely unhook the wires to the fan? I wish that I never came across their name. There is no service, no expertise, and it seems like every short cut possible was taken. I would never recommend French Hill to anyone. I should've turned around and ran after it took 6 weeks and multiple follow ups to even get their estimate - shame on me. Do not make the same mistake I did. Even in a small town there are much better companies to work with.
