We knew Gitta through some friends a few years ago. Our friends had worked with her and she was highly recommended to us. We found our favorite house in Tarzana and Gitta helped us all the way. I thought that it would be very complicated to buy a house, but with Gitta's help, everything went so smooth and easy. Buying our house was a very pleasant experience. She is very professional and always returned our phone calls right away. She is very honest and transparent. She kept us informed every step, and explained us everything about removing contingencies, inspection periods, loan approvals etc. We want to thank Gitta for all her help. Gitta helped us purchase our very first (starter) house back in 2011. Then she helped us purchase our forever home 10 years later! The words I would use to describe Gitta are kind, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. She was incredibly patient when we were house hunting and even more so when we finally made an offer. She never pushed or pressured us and we really appreciated that. After helping us buy both our houses, I consider Gitta as a trusted family friend. I highly recommend Gitta for excellent real estate services. read more

Gitta is wonderful! She helped my husband and I buy our first house in the Winnetka area, and every step of the way, she was helpful, respectful, professional, and very kind! She was also super-responsive to our calls and emails, always happy to explain things and was very detail-oriented, which is so important when you are going through the very tedious process of filling out mountains of paperwork and docusigning PDFs. She's just also a cheerful, pleasant person to be around - and seems to be very passionate about what she does! I can't say enough good things about her. If we ever need to sell our house or buy another property, we would call on Gitta again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much, Gitta, for helping us buy our home! read more

Gitta understood the emotional side of things and walked my brother and me through the entire process. She handled everything!! She even went up to the house to water the plants and bring the trash cans in off the street when we were unable to do so. She always worked with in our schedule, and informed us every step of the way ...when someone would be at our home for inspections or private showings or repairs. She staged our home beautifully so that when we saw that professional photographs that she arranged for, our family home looked like something out of Home and Garden Magazine. Gitta is so professional, thoughtful, and kind. She walked us through each offer in terms of the pros and cons , and guided us even though ultimately everything was our decision. Working with Gitta was the most enjoyable experience you could possibly have while selling a home. From the moment I reached out to her, to her first text asking if I was available for a phone call, to setting up a visit to the house (during Covid mind you), to setting up the professional photographer, listing the house, texting me appointments for showings, explaining every single step in this process, to just keeping us in the loop on escrow, the buyers demands, requests, and every single thing in between, she was such a trooper and has the most lovely personality. I could go on and on about Gitta. I would trust her to sell multiple homes for us (if we had them) but if we decide to sell our new home, she will definitely be on speed dial to sell that one too and my first recommendation if friends and family ask for a realtor. She's warm and inviting and goes beyond the scope of what a broker is expected to do. Just thought I would share this gem of an agent. read more

After my mother-in-law passed away, we were faced with selling her home in Winnetka. When it came time to find a realtor, I looked for good realtors with good ratings in Yelp. I found four realtors, all of whom had excellent ratings. My wife's family and I interviewed all four and found them all to be competent, knowledgeable, familiar with the area, seemingly dependable, and full of good advice. We decided to go with Gitta Van Bennekom, because in addition to the above qualities, she was so warm and communicative, and even though we had not yet selected her as our realtor, she was providing us with valuable information relative to comps and selling points. After selecting Gitta, there was never a single moment we regretted it. She proved to be the highly competent realtor we thought she was. Gitta handled everything on time, she always knew what to do and when to do it. She always promptly responded to our questions, and gave us good advice. When the inspector found a problem that would have cost us $3,800 to $4,500 to repair, we decided to fix it immediately. Gitta told us to hold off, because the buyer might be willing to accept it as it was, as she was determined to buy the house. We followed Gitta's advice, and the buyer said she would take care of it, thus saving us a few thousand dollars. Gitta also helped us with a cleaning service and offered other assistance that could help in preparing the house for sale. If you want a realtor who is highly competent, wholly dependable, has excellent credibility, is honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable of the realty business and the area in which you are selling, and on top of all that is warm and friendly, then Gitta Van Bennekom is your realtor. read more

I cannot recommend Gitta highly enough. She helped me sell my house for well over asking and helped me get a new house in an extremely competitive market. I chose Gitta because I wanted someone that I felt comfortable asking a long list of questions to and who would be willing to show me a plethora of houses. She was always available for a showing or via phone/text and is such a generous person. When we moved into our new house, it wasn't as clean as we would have hoped and Gitta sent her own house cleaners over and insisted on paying for it no matter how much we argued! Gitta is the sort of realtor you hope for but often don't get―personable, professional, and effective. Our expectation was to interview several agents and pick the best one, but after our meeting with Gitta, my wife and I were in agreement that we were fortunate indeed to have found her. After signing an agreement with Gitta, within a week she had listed our home, staged an open house, and presented us with three offers to consider. An excellent realtor with a heart of gold! Gitta has been our family real estate agent for the last 20+ years. She always goes out of her way to make sure I understand exactly what's going on in my transactions, she fights for me, and she has always responded to me right away. I've worked with many realtors over the years and I can easily say that she is one of the best. Many realtors have nice marketing and sound good but at the end of the day they don't deliver on their promises, Gitta is the exception to that rule... she's educated, experienced and not afraid to roll her sleeves up and dig in when you really need her.
