I called and let them know of my situation. I was seen the same week and scheduled for a crown the following week. This was my first crown so I was extra nervous about the procedure. He was very upfront with me about the cost and potential for a root canal. Luckily I did not need a root canal. He did a great job! The procedure was pain free and I'm satisfied with the experience. My teeth never feel really clean after a visit and he talks to his staff about his plans for the weekend the whole time he is examining your teeth. This is every single time I have been there. LOL My whole family goes there and like everyone else, my husband works and it is very challenging scheduling him because they are open only during hours he also works (9 am-4 pm) and forget ever trying to get in last minute. The good: The staff was really helpful when booking the appointment. Melinda & Debbie were great! They called my insurance to make sure all was good, they called me several times to give me updates and they even called me to offer me a more convenient time. Kudos to them. The bad: When I asked if the doctor is going to at least do a visual inspection of my teeth she said that she couldn't because we have to get some x-ray done and/or a teeth cleaning. I am no dentist and I understand that getting an x-ray will help to see if we have something "hidden" going on however you don't NEED an x-ray for a 5 minutes visual inspection just to see if there was anything going on that she'd spot. She did not do it and left. I could have had a big open cavity on the right side of my mouth but I don't know and I have to wait for an opening. They did not even offer me a glass of water/mouth wash to rinse the residue of tartar/products in my mouth after the very light cleaning. Honestly I felt completely insignificant, that they really did not want me there and that they only wanted me to come back to charge me more service to my insurance.

Be very cautious - all about money, not the patient…read more I visited Mason Dental for a new patient exam after calling ahead and confirming that my insurance will most likely be covered. I was told that insurance would be verified and that they would submit everything for a coverage estimate prior to treatment. After my exam and X-rays, I was informed that I had periodontal disease and would need scaling and root planing. I was also told I had approximately nine cavities and was strongly encouraged to proceed with laser treatment that was not covered by insurance. At no point did I feel I was given clear, conservative options or a breakdown of urgency versus elective procedures. The initial visit resulted in a $200 charge, and I was quoted approximately $800 for the recommended deep cleaning. Because the diagnosis felt significant, I sought a second opinion as I've never had periodontal issues and receive regular cleanings (I worked in the dental industry for years). At another dental office, I was told that I do not have periodontal disease and do not need scaling and root planning cleanings. Their review of my X-rays showed no signs supporting that diagnosis, aside from two isolated pockets near areas where my wisdom teeth had previously been extracted. Then was informed I have two areas on my molars that needed very small fillings on the occlusal areas. They were shocked my Mason Dentals treatment plan! Based on this second opinion, I'm concerned about the difference in diagnoses and the treatment plan I was given. I would recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding with Mason Dental.
