Chicken. Did you…read moreknow that it took until the 1920's to figure out how to tell the sex of a baby chicken? Before that all the chickens were raised until they were 4-6 weeks old and then the males were killed because they're not laying eggs and their meat is too dry and tough for nuggets. In the mid 20's someone in Japan figured out that if one would ever so softly and quickly squeeze a baby chick, its intestines would momentarily turn around and show a cloaca, a small external orifice that birds have, which could be analysed to tell if it was a boy or a girl. This discovery gave birth to the profession of a "chicken sexer". To become a chicken sexer one has to get in and undergo a rigorous training in the Zen Nippon school in Nagoya, the only permanent school for the purpose. What is very curios in the process of "sexing chickens", that only in 20% of the cases the chicken sexer can actually point out why he made his choice - for the rest of the time the chicken sexer goes with his intuition and experience. Most of the time they cannot tell exactly why this ass of a chicken is a boy or a girl. It's pure intuition and unconscious neural pathways. Nowadays, with new alternative sexing methods having been invented, only few students graduate from Zen Nippon school each year. However, the pay remains very good - a chicken sexer can make up to 15'000 € a month and you get to travel the world as well. Churrasquera Galo is a Portuguese cantine in 9th, in which a 1/2 chicken with rice (that has flavour), fries and few green things costs 10 €. They also make other dishes with meat, fish and octopus, but I go there for the best Portuguese chicken in town.

The food was good and staff attentive. Prices are very fair for the amount of food you get. A fun blend of different cultures and food. It was the first time my wife and I had seen a lot of veggies served up. We were super excited. A lot of locals ate outside but we chose inside to be off the street. Wine selection was good. Would recommend for anyone staying a the holiday inn or Hampton inn. It's an easy walk during the daylight summer months.

Ok, not that new, but so hot, in fact, that you'll likely have to jockey for a table amongst crowds of L'Oréal employees who don't mind getting the scent of grilled meat in their perfectly coiffed hair. That's about all there is to order here: Meat, meat, meat. And some fish. All salted and grilled in huge portions that only a churrasca can deliver. If you're familiar with the Brazillian churrascaria, it won't be what you're expecting - they don't bring you skewers and skewers of meats at will. They do, however, present you with a large plate filled with nicely grilled chicken, beef, pork, or fish - or a "Mixte Grill" of several, all at a nice price. Each dish comes with three sides of your choice, though none really inspire "oohs" and "ahhs." But that's ok - if you've come to a Churrasqueira, you're here for the meat. No menu combination, but you won't leave here hungry if you skip the entrée.
