You know you're at a good hair dresser when they are blatantly honest with you.
I went in wanting to get the Japanese straightening done on my afro. She took one look at my hair and tutted at me. Rattled off a list of shampoo's that are forever to be on my "banned" list and then told me that my hair is really dry and that if we were to go ahead with it that it might turn out rather shithouse and I could end up with broken hair. She was happy to do a test patch on my head but I said that there's no point, I can come back once I've treated my hair a bit better.
The trim, blow dry and iron cost me $55. That's right, $55!!! And I have a mane of hair. More than a lion. I kid you not.
Then we chatted about what kind of things were going to help me improve my hair in the next 3 months so that I could hopefully get this treatment done. She gave me a discount on the oil as well.
So for a hairdresser for women, I totally say try this place out. Sure they don't speak much english with each other, but they do make you feel really welcome.
I am counting down the days until I can go back and get my hair straightened!! read more
