Great service and hospitality. I was visiting from out of town and found this place. I tried another barber down the street, the kind where they read cattle magazines. It was hot and they were taking way too long to cut a 5 year old's hair. Left there due to what seemed like a LONG wait. I just wanted my head shaved. Found Gil's and they were a newer, nicer barbershop. I was third in line but these guys move. No long waiting, watching-the-grass-grow tempo. Good, prompt and courteous service. read more

When I got my haircut here I came in and asked how much for a haircut. Was told it would be at least $20 because my hair was long. Seems pretty irrelevant when I was just having my ponytail lopped off and then just getting a fade. Too expensive for the quality I got. read more

40 dollars for a buzz cut when I wanted a fade.... My head looks like a got brain surgery... go somewhere else if you are looking for a decent cut... read more

Gil did a great job on my son and I. Better than a great clips cut for the same price to a local business owner can't be beat.

I took my 4 year old son for a haircut and asked my son's father meet us there for our swap after the cut, he arrived early and sat with me. First impression from the barber was dang this guy is in a bad mood but I shrugged it off and got my son on the chair.... he started the cut after I showed him what we were asking for.. seemed to start off fine just a little awkward because the vibe was very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Then my son said ouch and told the barber that the clippers had just hurt him, he responded well thats why you don't move ( he hadn't moved) i was like geez but was like ok things happen and maybe he is having a bad day.. my sons father looked like he was about to stand up and punch this man for being so rude to our son. Then the barber got upset at my son for scratching his nose and he told him to "stay still!" grabbed his head Twisted it forward and told him to look straight multiple times as my sons said ouch stop it that hurts and this was not gently at all it was very aggressively. My son started to cry, I was at a loss for words and my son's dad was seriously holding him self back from beating the barber's ass when the barber looked at me and my sons father & said well are one of you going to hold him still.... I sat up and told my son it's ok baby your almost done and said it's ok ( looking back now I wish I would have told this man something) My son was being very well behaved not moving or requiring me to hold him and has never had this issue with an other barber he was sitting very still even in the circumstances of this grown man twisting his head forward aggressively... he sat crying quietly.. I assume out of fear that this man would hurt him if he didn't because I was also in a bit of shock and fear how to handle the situation And my sons father was seriously fighting the urge to not hurt this man for how he was treating our son or how he was speaking to us so disrespectfully..I didn't know how to react part of me was like grab your son and go but i honestly was scared this man would attack me throw my son off the chair or a fight would break out with him and my sons dad with how irritable this barber was. This was such a horrible experience, horrible person with horrible service... 0 people or kids skills and the cut was trash... I do not recommend this place to anyone unless your looking for your self or your child to be treated badly ...I also feel like I should press charges for how he grabbed my boys head multiple times and twisted it and my son said stop it your hurting me and made him cry! This man must be a miserable person to be so cruel to little kids.... also $30 for a shit attitude and cut for a 4 year old ... this place and man is not worth a crap! I hope his karma hits him hard. read more

The worst place I've ever been for a haircut. Almost 30 bucks, the guy never touched scissors just buzzes everything, took about 7 minutes to cut my hair. Then afterwards proceeds to say "cash only". I look around for a sign, he didn't have one up, I told him I have to leave and go to an atm. He said leave your wallet or your keys. I really thought I was going to have to fight the guy. If you're business is too broke to afford to trust someone to go to an atm when you didn't have a sign up in the first place. I feel bad for you. I had to send my wife because the guy had creep vibes and was not going to leave anything personal. He's trying to do cash only to lie on his taxes. RUDE, AND THE WORST HAIRCUT. read more

Stopped in to get my hubby a cut after he forgot to before we left home. Went on fellow yelper reviews! Thanks all!

5 minutes in the chair, a burr and eyebrow trim for $28, wrong. I suggest you get a place at Cid's.

Great place for a haircut. Friendly service and fair prices. It's the best place in Taos for a haircut

Best Barber in Taos! Marcos took over his dad Gil's Barber shop 15 years ago. I brought my father n law for a cut cuz their was no way in he'll I was going to take him and my mother n law to some fine dining look the way he did. But as you can see Marcos made Don look like Don Corleone from the God father. Yelpers, please mention my name Raul so that Marcos knows Yelp works. Don't forget to rate him as well. I promise he will hook u up! read more

i was visiting from out of town. Needed a haircut. This was the best haircut I ever had. Just bring cash, no cards accepted.

not a good experience. Been to so many hair salon and this babarahop gave me worst haircut. Price is not reasonable. The guy with big mustache Didn't cut my hair that I want it even tho I show him pic and told him clearly. Felt like that guy cut my hair very short form the top for purpose by razor fast. Usually other they use scissors. noe not going their anymore. Price change two times. I ask the price the babar said 18 then I went back tom cut my hair I gave him 18 and the guy said 23.not even worth of 10 doller. I don't know y they didn't put the chair facing mirror wen u put big mirror front. read more

Awesome hair cut. Very reasonable price. Easy to get to, clean shop and Marcus is very personable.

First off my hair cut was completely uneven in the front. The price changed three times while I was there. Hospitality was mediocre at best. I paid 18 dollars for the haircut. I feel that Gil owes me a refund. read more

Good cut, friendly service, quick in and out. I'll be a regular!
