I was falsely accused of stalking and harassment by a mentally deranged neighbor. I was referred to…read moreTodd Grover by a friend who is also an attorney. Todd interviewed me and determined that I had a very solid defense. He intern assigned the case to one of the new attorneys in their office, Justice Kelley. At first, I was a little disappointed that I was being assigned a new attorney. However, after consulting with Justice, I felt extremely comfortable with his competency knowledge of the law, professionalism and ability to represent me. Unfortunately, in today's climate of law fair, it's uncertain whether you will get justice in the court system. Very fortunately for me, Justice Kelley was more than up to the task. His analysis of the case his preparation of me going to court was superlative. I have virtually no experience in the criminal justice system, but I would highly and unequivocally recommend the word Grover law firm and specifically justice KELLEY if you have need of a criminal defense attorney.

I feel like the process to handle reinstatement of my gun rights were mismanaged contributing to…read moredenial of my gun rights. I went through at least three different lawyers at Donahue Law firm during the process. It was hard to speak directly with my lawyer when I called for updates. They failed many times to call me back when I left messages. This included a 6+ month long span around late 2023 to early 2024. I finally had to write a letter before I got a response. The excuse what that an intern or a secretary was not passing along messages and they had been reprimanded. It felt like whichever lawyer was handling my case at each specific time were putting in the bare minimum effort. During the actual hearing things felt rushed and witnesses on my behalf were excluded from giving their testimony due to time constraints set by the PSRB. I would have liked the lawyer to have addressed this beyond stating that their written letters on my behalf would be sufficient. Also during the hearing it seemed a lot of questions were not asked by my lawyer and I would have expected an objection or two on my behalf. Prices on services seemed to come in at random and would be added onto without much explanation. Specifically I believe I was at first told the examiner in my case would cost $3,000 which I paid. Then it jumped up another $2,000 which I was barely able to cover. All told I was into everything around $10,000. Lastly after the matter was settled and I received the acknowledgment letter from the PSRB I turned it over to Donahue Law firm expecting to begin the appeal process. Instead I got two weeks of radio silence and when I finally got through the secretary informed me that they don't do appeals. I was directed to a webpage to fill out a form to start the appeal myself. This specific form required a lawyer acting on my behalf so it wasn't any help. I was also given the number of an appellate lawyer based in Portland who had no interest in my case. Along with the delays from the PSRB and Donahue Law firm I have been in a time crunch and thus scrambling to find a new lawyer. I will miss the 60 day deadline to file for my immediate appeal. So now I'm looking at two years before I can appeal.

In…read moremy experience, he failed to properly file my out-of-state child-custody order with the Deschutes County Court and instead attached it as an exhibit. Communication and billing practices during my case were troubling -- my trust account balance dropped unexpectedly, and when I raised concerns, Mr. Hattaway withdrew from representation. Afterward, I learned that Mr. Hattaway was publicly disciplined by the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board in 2024 for neglecting a client's case, failing to communicate, and practicing law while ineligible. The Board found that his misconduct caused nearly $90,000 in damages to a client, and it imposed a 60-day suspension (fully deferred). You can read the official report here: Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board - In re: Paul H. Hattaway, Docket No. 24-DB-003 (Search by name or docket number on the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board website if the direct link changes.) Based on both my experience and his documented disciplinary history, I cannot recommend Mr. Hattaway or Baxter Law for family-law matters. If you are considering hiring this firm, review his disciplinary record and request detailed billing documentation to protect yourself and your case.
