I can understand Daisey B's review, my mother also got turned down by other nursing facilities but was accepted at Gilpin Hall.
This is a very special place where the caregivers are welcoming, friendly, and are focused on caring for the residents. I receive phone calls to let me know when a medication is changed or a question comes up about my mother. The building is state of the art with wide hallways, decentralized dining rooms on each floor, heating and cooling systems that remove all the "smells". Best of all is that in a semi private room, each resident has there own private space. Instead of two beds separated by a curtain, each has their own four walls while sharing a bathroom.
Also, the staff turnover rate seems low. The Nursing and CNA staff are assigned to the same residents. The staff seems to work well together and this creates a nice environment for the residents. One last comment is that Gilpin does not accept short term rehab patients which avoids all the traffic of admission/discharge and also "strangers" coming in and out. It seems comforting to the residents that they see the same people daily. Of course, Gilpin Hall is not perfect but I feel like Gilpin "gets it". I hope this review is helpful. read more
