Our current company which I can't say but it rhymes with "Charmers" jacked up our yearly premiums from $4000.00 a year to $19,800.00 which is absolutely ridiculous and I am not exaggerating this jump in monthly premiums and just Incase math isn't your strong suit that is $1,650.00 a month which is more then my mortgage payment. Darlene at Gillmore Insurance is an absolute angel! Out of the blue this week, we received a homeowner insurance nonrenewal notice from the company that has insured our home since it was built in 2017. The reason given for the nonrenewal was "located in a high brush exposure area" due to California's recent increase in wildfires. Scrambling to find a different insurer for our property, we were hitting brick walls. Each insurer we called was unable to offer coverage for our home, despite the fact it is in a newer, gated, active adult community with plenty of defensible space surrounding it and our neighbors' homes. It was frustrating because, although some of the homes in our neighborhood are less than a mile or so from the foothills, all of us have drought-tolerant vegetation, very little shrubbery, and virtually no tall trees. We decided to call a local independent agent for advice and found Gillmore Insurance Agency on Yelp. When we told Darlene of our dilemma, she went into action. While still on the phone, she began searching a network of insurers who could possibly provide us the coverage we need. She explained every detail along the way, even advising us we might have to resort to getting coverage from The California FAIR Program, but that she would walk us through the process either way. She was down to earth and reassuring. Then, just a few hours later on the same business day, we had a written quote from an admitted insurer based in California AND the premium is even less than what we were paying before! Jodie Lewis was so incredible with her knowledge and caring about insurance. She helped us so much obtaining homeowners insurance in an area where insurance is sketchy because of fires and floods. She spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get us the best deal and get us insured where we had reached a dead end. She was also aware of some of the traps that insurance companies have the insurer fall into. Even after everything was done she called us back about a month later to follow up and make sure that we had gotten when we had paid for and that it was the best deal that we could get. We received a non renewal from our insurance pacific speciality for being in a fire area even though we are not in the red. Gilmore was very sympathetic to our position and worked on getting us the best rate. It took a lot of phone calls with our work schedules but they kept on it and we were able to get insured. Afterwards they sent a nice hand written thank you card. That's something that used to happen all the time. Companies cared if they were able to gain your business. I haven't seen a company care about keeping or gaining your business in a long time and I appreciated it. It's nice to have an agent that gets to know you and it's personal instead of just being another customer. Nobody has any control over the California fair plan rate but they were able to get my other house insurance $400 cheaper a year than what I was paying. read more
