Epi is like having a little corner of Paris in Bonn! *Real* French baguettes, perfect pastries, and…read moreever-so-tempting desserts. My favorite food at Epi requires me to become a bit anti-social: a freshly warmed baguette with Brie, rucola and a honey chutney-ish dressing (Brie a Miel). Stinks so bad, tastes so good!! :-) Of course, one simply can't leave without sampling an eclair (or three), Monte Cristo, brioche, tart or macaroon. Better yet, buy one of each! I would especially recommend the white chocolate and pistachio Monte Cristo, and the apricot brioche... but then I'd have to leave out the three-cheese quiche and fondant chocolate, and that would just be wrong. Epi imports French flour to ensure that their pastries and breads are authentic. As a result, it's a bit pricey - and worth every penny. Oh, and they have some delicious hot chocolate, teas and imported sodas, too. But, seriously - who can think about that when face-to-face with the most tender and flaky chocolate croissant in Germany? The only downside is that they close at 19:00... sometimes a girl just needs a praline at 19:30, people!!

I will definitely go back but only for some take out. I hope they will change coffee soon, then I will maybe take a sit on a terrace.

It's a gorgeous cafe and bakery located in a quaint old part of Bonn with cobblestone walkways and so on nearby. It's quite pink inside and make to look like a cottage country cafe. It has been in this location for over 50 years. They make a lot of cakes here about 80 different types and they have self made chocolates, breads and spreads. They have seating in here for about 10-12 people and they serve sandwiches, cakes, soups and so on. Coffee was quite ok here and the small breakfast I had was also nice. The ladies were very friendly and quick and all in all it was a good experience. Happy to come here again.

There were so many PROS of eating here that I may not get to them all, but will attempt! 1.) This place not only serves pastries from savory to sweets, but fresh sandwiches and wonderfully authentic German bread! 2.) Prices are fantastic! We got a Peppermint tea in my Tervis, lemon sponge cake that was lightly sweetened to combat sweet meringue, a fresh salamini sandwich and a knotted bread stick with stuffed pieces of meat that was all well-priced. For example, I could've gotten a latte for $2.65 Euros vs. $6 lavender latte from US. 4.) Free Wifi 5.) Comfortable booths and 2 to 4 person tables with substantial padding (*insert smiley face*) on the chairs in a nice seating area!

Well, okay, I shouldn't be too hard on them because they are also a bakery, and there are certainly lots of those in Germany, and as such the coffee tends to come second. However, not being a huge fan of baked goods, I tend to go to places for the coffee (when I can handle coffee that is), and for some reason I randomly picked this place - probably because I was having a bit of difficulty actually finding another place in Bonn that sold coffee.

In this instance we resisted and did not try the food. We had their house special hot chocolate instead and it was a bit disappointing to be honest. The chocolate on a stick melted into a million small blobs making the hot chocolate a bit grainy and not something I like. The taste was ok and nothing special. Considering this is a chocolatier I expected better than my local chain bakery store and unfortunately I prefer my local store to this one ;-)) I may come back and try a few things next time. Not blown away by this place unfortunately.
