Stay clear of this establishment…read more You would normally expect of a bar/restaurant to provide a pleasant service to paying customers, not rude, confrontational attitudes. Sadly for Eier Carl, you wont get pleasant service. So do them a favour and pass them by and go find one of the many other options available steps away. 1) One of the servers was not willing to provide a glass of tap water after our entire group had ordered beers and ensued to argue that he wanted to charge for the tap-water and that one of our party was stupid for thinking a glass of tap water would be free. 2) Not being a fully fledged German speaker myself, I decided to go for the Alsterwasser, as pointed out in "their" English menu that this was their version of a "Radler" Upon delivery of the drinks from possibly the female owner or boss? I declared "Radler" to her which seemed to confuse her and for unknown reasons trigger aggression. One of our party who spoke German was able to decipher that the she said Radler is for dogs and to go drink it outside with them. We mentioned that it states in your menu that this was your version of Radler. Utterly bizarre mentality and reaction, we took our money elsewhere for drinks/food. I suggest anybody reading this does too.

This restaurant will always be very memorable, the food, the ambiance, everything was perfect. For…read morestarters, we ordered the starters for two, which was a huge platter of seafood galore! The busum shrimp and grilled prawns were especially good. The Labskaus was very flavorful and tasted perfect with the egg served with it. For main course we had grilled cod fillet with creamed savoy cabbage and parsley potatoes, fish hamburg style which was zander with Dijon mustard sauce and potatoes and Wels filet cardinal style. All our main course dishes were excellent, fish was very fresh, with subtle flavors while keeping the original fish taste intact. They were cooked to perfection and were not dry and chewy. The side of potatoes were good and not too filling. The dijon mustard sauce served as a good dipping sauce, and wasn't overbearing with mustard flavor. My favorite was the wels filet, it was an explosion of delectable flavors and creaminess all at once. The au gratin actually melts in your mouth and you can't have enough of it. One of the best seafood dishes I've had. Too bad you don't get this dish every where, especially the way this restaurant makes it. This restaurant has nailed it and definitely seems like their OG. I highly recommend this dish. For dessert we had their goat cheese, again a perfect ending to an amazing feast. We went here for dinner on a weekday hence it wasn't that crowded. Our server was friendly and made good suggestions from the menu. They have some good views of the water, so make sure you get a table by the window. The food quantity is quite impressive. Overall a great experience with amazing food.

Using the HADAG 62 you can do a short hop from U S Landungsbrücken and then your there. What can you expect? A nice German restaurant with a wide range of good food and wine. They have a lot of fish on the card. But don't worry they cater for everyone. I have only been in there during lunchtimes where there is a green card with a weekly rotating lunch menu. Each day you can pick from 5 or 6 dishes for a reasonable price. The food is always tasty and I have never had any complaints. And if you think for example the portion is too small? Then say so! Sometimes you will get a top up. The staff are great and really friendly in a Hanseactic way (that's a good thing!). So basically I have no complaints! Be warned though it is slightly upper-market so the prices are of course upper-market too.
