After a short wait, we started exploring the chateau first. Following the chateau, we explored the fountains, the trianon(petit and grande), as well as the queen's hamlet, where they house lots of barn animals. We went on a hot day and did not have the will to spend much time outside. If I were to do the day over again, I wouldn't waste half an hour in the golf cart line, which was a) fully exposed and b) barely moved the whole time we were there. It would've been nice to have a golf cart, as the grounds are enormous, but I wish we'd just gone down and walked the shadier parts of the garden instead of sacrificing our energy to the punishing sun. The gardens were impressive and genuinely beautiful, palatial in scope and decked out with ornate fountains and manicured greenery. I was hoping to catch the musical fountain show, a popular feature of the gardens, but couldn't figure out when they were active. We did at least see the fountains turn on before we left, and that was pretty cool. We didn't get far into the gardens on the main palace side, as everything was so spread out, but I liked what I saw and wished we'd had a little more time to explore the labyrinthine hedges, which I only saw because they were near the bathroom. We took the rickety little train across the grounds instead, and the ride made me realize how big the place was, and how much of it we were missing. We got off at Petit Trianon and it took a while to walk to a place we could get cabs. Despite some heat exhaustion, this walk was quite pleasant, scenic and well shaded, through a path lined with old, tall trees. We saw a lot of families riding bicycles, and if I were to go back to Versailles, that's what I'd do, just rent bikes and roam around.

This park features everything from the Eiffel Tower, arc de triomphe, Notre Dame, to the various Chateau's (Castles) in France. I believe there was about 80-100 Miniature models all numbered in which you cna follow a path from beginning to end. This park has a few dining areas, restrooms, and and several fun rides that are self operated. If you have extra time in addition with visiting the larger scale landmarks in France, I definitely recommend France Miniature.

This place got off to a very very bad start with me, but spent the rest of the time making It up to…read moreme. Firstly..the location of this place is a nightmare. From the centre of Paris it took us 2 metro trains, an overland suburban train and finally a bus which left us stranded on a roundabout at a bus stop that was called France Miniature, but still no sign of the park. Eventually we were able to cross a road and walk for almost 10 minutes and find the entrance. The fun had only just started however as at the entrance we met a girl and 2 tills. We wanted to pay entry and a drink after our trek to get there. The catch, you could not pay for both at the same till and both tills were broken. A swearing supervisor arrived but didn't make things much better so we were quite annoyed when we were finally able to get into the park. From there things got better however. I knew Paris was spoilt, with some of the most majestic sights in the world, what I hadn't realized is quite how much there is in the rest of France. The amount of times we found ourselves we found ourselves determining that we had to go and see the full size version of one of the miniatures was evidence of that. The staff got better too. We ate at the restaurant, where a funny and friendly waiter served us food of a quality much better than what you expect to find in a tourist attraction (but then..it is France). Also at the end of our visit to the park another worker there helped us call a taxi to get back to the station (the buses stop before the park closes.this is the kind of thing that only happens in France!) Also worth a mention are the distractions from the main event and very entertaining they are too. First the kids toy car driving track with its spooky music is worth a look if visiting with kids, then there are some slides, a ride that takes you up across the water in the air on a chair suspended from a cable and another one that takes you up a ramp in a boat before you shoot down and jump into the water (there is a small bump at the end to send you flying). The last 2 I mention are self operated and they were tremendous fun. You can't help thinking 'lawsuit waiting to happen' mind you and we weren't surprised to see an ambulance arrive for someone who had taken a tumble. In conclusion. A fun day out if you can get there. Try not to hurt yourself!

The play areas were nice sized and there is also a large perimeter fence around the entire area. there were plenty of slides and car and train mock ups for my son to play on for about an hour or so. There are covered areas and many benches for the parents to sit and watch. There are also restrooms in the back and a small cafe area at the entrance. Why only 3 stars instead of 4? I give the playground 4 stars, however the fact that you must pay seemed a little unusual. I could even maybe understand if you paid by the number of kids, but you must pay for adults too. I think it may have been 2.50 per child and 1.25 for each adult.

But on a recent Sunday this park checked every single one of our boxes, providing a chill place to spread out, picnic and frolic without the hustle and body-to-body bustle of the Parisian parks on a rare summer day. Located around 20 minutes outside of the city by car or train, it's enough of a jaunt to make the excursion exciting without all of the hassle of a long-distance trip. Tucked away off of the quai, there are no signs indicating where it's located which makes it even more of a hidden, insider address (tip: Apple maps doesn't have the location mapped so use Google maps to find it). The grounds are perfectly maintained and consist of large open grass where you can spread out, picnic, play ball, and sun bathe (attention: everyone needs to keep their shirts on and there's a guard that goes around enforcing the rule). There are loads of weeping willow trees where you can get some shade while listening to the sounds of the fountains in the duck-filled ponds nearby. There's also a geyser at the entrance where you can cool down under the water and for the kiddies, there are also a couple of playgrounds and even an enclosed aviary where you can watch birds roam around. Sounds pretty fantastic, no?

Benches dot the perimeter if sitting on grass sounds like a nightmare (it would be if I didn't have my trusty travel blanket with me.) The dirt areas combined with no colorful flowers in bloom make the park feel somewhat drab. Some nuisances to contend with: bees (so many bees) & aggressive peddlers of everything from alcohol to cheap souvenirs. Though there are far prettier parks in Paris, having the iconic structure seemingly within reach is the draw here. Check it out once; it is worth being on your Paris itinerary, especially if it's your first time here.
