So pretty, the trail and walkway near the hatchery are very well maintained and scenic. A great place to go for an afternoon walk.

What a lively surprise! A lovely state park next to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center! A small fish hatchery, lush picnic areas, and a beautiful walk around the Giant Springs and Roe River. So pretty. The young ranger at the information center was so informative and introduced us to their pet snake kept on the counter. Very nice!!

Beautiful nature walk for people of any age. Very friendly and informative staff. Kids can enjoy feeding fish, as long as you have quarters, and playing at the playground.

I love visiting off the beaten path oddities while traveling. When I saw that Giant Springs was not only on the Lewis & Clark Trail but had the shortest river in the US - I knew we had to make this a stop. The springs were so pretty and refreshing. I loved the plant life and how clear the water was. The Roe River (all of 201 feet long) definitely made me laugh. I found it fascinating that this was labeled a river (especially since I live near the Ohio.) We were on a bit of a time crunch but I would absolutely visit again and explore more. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area.

It's a must stop if your in Great falls lots to see in a small park. The main feature is the big spring it's interesting how it bubbles up and flies in to the Missouri River to make it the shortest river in the world plus it's right next to the fish hatchery. Tons of info all around park. $8 fee non residents. Great place to have a picnic

Amazing State Park along Missouri River. Pet friendly, leash only. Best place for walking, running and riding the bike. A lot of benches and places for rest and have snacks.

Giant Springs State Park is located where Lewis and Clark discovered an enormous spring welling up thousands of gallons of fresh water less than 100 yards from the Missouri River. As it turns out there are about four or five separate artesian wells that form the springs. It is the largest fresh water spring in North America. It looks like a pool about fifty feet wide with amazingly clear water welling up. Probably this is just the way it was over 200 years ago when Lewis and Clark drank from it. A short "river" takes the spring water down to the Missouri River. This little river is named the Roe River. For a time it was listed by the Guiness Book of World Records as the shortest river in the world. There is a short bridge over this short river that takes visitors to a small island between the springs and the Missouri. When visiting the nearby Lewis and Clark Interpretive Museum, take a short drive to see this amazing natural feature.

    Hello H.

Beautiful park with many things based on your interest. Great for a romantic walk, fishing, watching the sunset, sitting by the river, watching the water flow from the natural spring, shaded areas, children's playground etc... Certainly a place to visit over and over again.

Giant Springs Park is probably my favorite park in Great Falls. I've visited this park all four seasons and it remains at the top of my list. My favorite thing is to feed the fish at the hatchery and then walk the sidewalk between the springs and the river. There is plenty to see year round - highly recommend!

I appreciated how they have mileage markers along the path so you can keep track of your distance without some type of technology. I liked this Gibson Park located right outside downtown Great Falls, Montana. I spent the day here…read moreyesterday (Sunday) just casually walking about the many paths/trails while of course...saying hello to all the ducks! And that's probably the claim to fame for Gibson Park. It is a nesting area or haven (or call it what you will) for hundreds of Canadian Geese, seagulls and members of the birding family. They all cohabitate together here set around a charming giant pond. So then you may be asking, why only 3 stars? Well, this park could really use a refurbishing. Like, for a day or a week, it needs to cleaned up. The amount of bird poop and small trashy items lying around were pretty evident. Walking beside the lakefront, it just felt like you're stepping on soft manure. And it made for a pretty rundown setting. But really, Gibson Park has tremendous potential. If it were a little more polished, this place could be 5 stars. Regardless, for a quiet Sunday afternoon going for a stroll and taking in some fresh air...I was happy I stopped on by here. I appreciated how some of the mamma ducks had little ducklings following them around. That's just a scene of pure innocence and heart warming. There are paved walkways, plenty of beaches to sit down on, free public restrooms, lots of grassy area to play with your dog, a playground, a skateboard park (but that was covered in graffiti) and even a snack stand area beside the duck pond. For the snack shack, they sell these slushes for $5.25 in a variety of flavors. Also on the outside menu board was cotton candy, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, candy and chips, ya know, all the good stuff that caters to kids, lol. Overall, if you do anything here, I would suggest taking some food with ya to feed the geese and ducks. I brought some pretzels with me (which I crushed up) and put pieces in the palm of my hand which the geese happily and harmlessly pecked out of my hand. So, I guess, I'm also guilty of contributing to the poop around the pond just as everyone else has, lol. Lastly, I'm pretty surprised Gibson Park has only 2 reviews? For a springtime Sunday, there were a lot young families and children present that you'd think this place would receive more recognition? Or, maybe just folks here in Great Falls, MT don't do much Yelping, lol. Either way, I did enjoy my time here and was able to overlook all the stains embedded in the pavement.
