The Probate took over 11 months! I was told that if uncontested it should not take longer than 6-7…read moremonths. The reason that this probate law office took so long is due to them 'forgetting' about it!!! My father passed away with a Will, and as the sole beneficiary I found I had to find a Probate attorney. I contacted Gresham Law, Patton Echols. Initially, his assistant, Kay setup my first appointment, confirmed. I arrived, and he didn't, until another attorney helped me, and we called him. He thought it was the next day?! He arrived an hour after appt time. Please note for future probate customers: - Keep him on task, he likes to converse at $250 hr (Kay's cost $125hr, but if she contacts Patton, then your question/work is transferred to his rate). There wasn't any overview of paperwork to see the outline of procedures at the first meeting. Kay sent later: very confusing with messy verbiage outline - Call often to check on process! If they say it will take 2 weeks, call them in 2 weeks! The office forgot about my probate several times, and literally for 3 months one time. . . It was not a good experience, as I was going through shock, grief and mourning. The good news is that it's finished!:)

His assistance would call and leave messages and not answer nor return calls, and then call and remind about an in person visit that was in fact, virtual. They then dropped us without notice from representation because we were open and transparent about our frustrations regarding their complete lack of communication and misrepresentation of the facts. Be careful.

Addendum: Prior review perhaps a bit harsh. The attorney didn't apprise me of important aspects of…read moremy case; but maybe he assumed they were common knowledge, which apparently I have almost none. Also, he made me think I'd get some money back if he didn't use it for costs & billable hours. I felt left hanging when he didn't say a word after the case concluded. After waiting & hearing nothing for months I reached out & inquired about possible reimbursement...whoops. On balance, I was glad to have him in my corner when I needed him. And I'm pretty sure he did attend law school.

Ken was no help in this emotional and abusive time- he did not do the things I asked and I swear he was intimated by the other attorney because I had no choice but to fire him and go pro se and they were freaking awful to me. Ken has no backbone and we constantly argued about the things I felt were important and I was validated a zillion percent when my child's attorney backed my every move. I knew in my gut to ask for certain things and he would say it wasn't worth the fight?? Its my fight! Go anywhere else!! Ken was awful!!
