The foods served were all regional specialties except for the olives and I found a new kind of soft cheese which includes Madagascar peppercorns which was outstanding! Along with the meats, cheeses and olives there was a chutney, a tapenade, and a pate. All were excellent . While scanning through the shelf's and getting a first impression myself the really friendly shop assistant approached me. I really like this as she let me have a first intake and then came along instead of jumping straight onto me. I briefly explained her, what I was looking for and she took me for a little tour along the big reds they offer. Overall all wines were moderate and good prized for the quality they offer. Your one was really attentive and talked me through different wines she would have recommend and gave me infos about the grapes, the whole company and their quality promise without trying to push any wine onto me nor upsell. You could really feel she was passionate about the wine and really wanted to help me make the right choice. In the end I took a bottle of the Spätburgunder a rich, full-bodied red with a fruity finish from the Rhine-Hesse region, I matched a dark chocolate which they offer too and was happy with my gift purchase. Of course I could not leave the shop without getting myself a bottle of their Carbernet Mitos .While we talked through those different gift options this one just got my attention and it would have been a shame not to take. Gekko is a specialized drink shop that also happens to be a leftist collective. So obviously I want to put my money there. The warehouse is hidden in the back of an industrial-esque complex along Köpeniker Strasse. Inside there are juices, waters, beer, sodas, and more. They also offer speciality drinks like local ciders, colas, vodkas, etc. So not only is it a good place to buy drinks, but also a good place to discover new available products. Also, the prices can't be beat. We bought a ton of drinks here for our wedding reception and it was very affordable. They offer delivery and pick-up for an extra cost, but we had a vehicle so did it ourselves. Then, when the party was over, we returned our empty crates for deposits and brought back full crates, which they buy back for the same price, minus a €1 each. Be aware that you have to be a member to buy here, but the sign-up process is only about 10 minutes and includes some paperwork to fill out. After that, every visit is easy in, easy out.
