This gym is the BEST in every way!…read more I went there for 8 years but just recently moved to a new area of the state. I do miss it a lot!! They have tons of all kinds of equipment . In fact , you can fit the average gym in here about 3 times. And, you hardly have to wait in line to use something. Everybody is nice also. This is despite what Planet Fitness wants you to believe. Tim, Karina, and the rest are great! I highly recommend this gym! Mike B

I was hesitant about writing this review, but I think it's important to share an honest experience…read more Lighting: The lighting throughout the gym is very harsh--extremely white--and combined with the white walls, it creates an uncomfortable environment. Lighting in a gym isn't just aesthetic; it directly affects safety, performance, mood, and the overall workout experience. Equipment Condition: A significant amount of the cardio equipment is not functional. It's frustrating to see equipment moved from the old location to the new one without being properly repaired. Many machines are in poor condition and need maintenance or adjustment. TVs: All the TVs display the same content, which feels repetitive and uninspired. It would be a big improvement to include a variety of options like music videos, workout-related YouTube channels, educational fitness content, or even news. Music: The music selection is consistently heavy metal, which may not appeal to everyone and can be demotivating for many members. Music plays a major role in workouts--it boosts performance, increases motivation, reduces perceived effort, and helps maintain focus. A mix of genres like EDM, house, pop, and remixes (typically in the 120-140 BPM range) would create a more inclusive and energizing atmosphere. Warm-Up / Stretching Area: The stretching area is too small and cluttered with unnecessary equipment. It would benefit from better organization and the addition of useful items like resistance bands. The current layout negatively impacts the overall experience. Safety Concerns: The hallways leading to the bathrooms are overcrowded with equipment and tools, making the space feel unsafe. In the event of an emergency evacuation, this could become a serious issue and would likely be flagged during a safety inspection. Functional Trainers: Many of the cable machines are in poor condition and need maintenance. Some have uneven cable resistance or mismatched thickness between sides, which directly affects workout performance and balance. Bathrooms: Basic supplies like paper towels are often missing. Additionally, signage encouraging proper use (e.g., not disposing of gum or trash in urinals) would help maintain cleanliness. Water Access: There should be a proper water dispenser for filling bottles. Relying only on water fountains is not practical for members during workouts and doesn't meet basic expectations for convenience. Front Desk Staff: The front desk staff could significantly improve their attitude. They are often not welcoming, which sets a negative tone from the moment you walk in. As the face of the gym, they should create a friendly and professional first impression for members. Overall: The gym has lost the strong bodybuilding atmosphere that made the previous location stand out. Right now, the experience doesn't match expectations. I would recommend management visit facilities like Mass Underground or Olympus Gym for inspiration on layout, equipment quality, and overall environment. At this point, I'm seriously considering canceling my membership

It gets very crowded here; most of the people who work out here tend to be high schoolers and college students. It's hard to find an area in the gym that isn't already occupied by others. They have plenty of machines though available to use and pretty big gym. Lots of parking available, as well, and staff is nice & helpful for the most part. Personal training is offered here and fitness classes. I think that even though the price of their memberships have doubled, getting a membership here is still a good bargain. Their VIP membership allows access to multiple of their locations, bring a guest everyday for free, unlimited cycle classes + studio, sauna, + more perks... all for $34.99/month.

You will be charged "processing," "enrollment," and other various fees that cost more than the membership itself. And no, they won't tell you about these fees in person. They also charge a cancellation fee, which they label as an "Amount Past Due," if you try to cancel a membership that you literally signed up for the day before. What was supposed to be a $19.99 membership ended up costing nearly $200 with all fees included, all within just a few days of signing up.

Today, I'm on track to lose 100lbs in one year, feeling more fit and happy than I have in a decade, and still super motivated to continue training with Chris. Unlike other trainers, Chris is the full package offering comprehensive coaching on diet, exercise and attitude. He's never been late or flaked on a training session, is always available by text or phone and has only been supportive and understanding despite my initial fitness level. I legitimately look forward to my workouts with Chris. Chris has coached me through both weight loss and motivational plateaus to a point where I'm eager to stick with it to see how far I can go. He's proven to be reliable, honest, funny, smart, humble, kind, extremely knowledgeable about his craft and laser focused on helping you achieve results.

Keep in mind that not all Crunch Fitnesses are created equal and offer membership at different start prices/month. For example, this location is going to be cheaper than going to other locations in the area, especially the newer ones like the Dorchester location that was previously a BSC gym. I do like this gym, though! Lots of machines but I will say the equipment is getting old & worn. One of my favorite machines that they offer is the hip thrust machine. It's not the exact one that I really like, as the one that they have uses a belt buckle, however, love that they even offer this machine for use. This and the free weight squat racks are definitely some things to keep in mind if you are making a decision of either here or a Planet Fitness, since they are priced similarly for memberships. I noticed that this gym gets very busy and PACKED. Though, this is inevitable when choosing a more affordable gym option as it's always incredibly packed, just have to figure out their non-peak hours if you like quiet gym space.
