Last on my checklist... playing 1-on- 1 with Michael Jordan. Next to last on my checklist... attending Drew League. Drew League basketball for me is like that girl I always heard about but had never seen. The sexy, pretty, elusive tall brunette that cooked, cleaned and could school me on Star Wars trivia while dancing the night away with me on the pier at the beach (I know, not possible). Not high maintenance, but worthy of it all, because she is that good. Drew League is the equivalent for basketball. All substance, no frills. Small gym, NBA All Star talent ballin' hard and flashy for rep and pride, free admission. FREE ADMISSION! So if I had attended in 2011 I could've seen Kobe take on James Harden or Lebron James wax the floor. If I went in 2014 I could've seen Kevin Durant ball it up. And this year, Klay Thompson took on James Harden while Stanley Johnson guarded Baron Davis the same time that Keith Closs put a body on Andre Drummond. Metta World Peace even brought a team with his brother and his son on it while Swaggy P and Demar Derozan kept slammin' and AT&Ting it on another squad. If you are a hoops junkie, you understand the quest for the ultimate pick up game. Drew League is it. Yes it's a league and there are refs, but where else can you go, where any given day in July or August, a NBA All Star will show up and ball it up for free? There is no pretentiousness. No blacked out Suburbans, no NOI with bow ties on the perimeter. It's just the ball, the court, the players and the announcer. There are high school stars, former college stars, international players, D League and former NBA players trying to get one last shot and an invite to training camp and current NBA players that need to get some summer run in. It does fill up. If people hear that a prime time NBA player's team is taking on another prime time NBA player's team, the gym is going to pack out. At that point, the line forms outside and they let people in club style... No one out, no one in. Since 2014 Nike has set up a Drew League boutique where you can customize your own Drew League shirt, tank, or shorts. You pick your shirt colors and designs and they press it on for you on site within 30 minutes. You can get some swoll items here that no other kid on your block will have. Drew League at King Drew High School is OG and like NWA, it's straight outta Compton!

Seating was comfortable but very tight for your legs. Impossible for someone to walk out or in while people are sitting. Several teams competing (with an scripted set of rules, games, and fails to win) but still really good stand-up comedy because even though the games were set the topics or words used for their play were coming from the crowd watching the "play". My boyfriend and I both got free tickets to one of the final championship games this past Saturday…read moreevening, so we took his parents while they were in town. We drove over and wanted to get some booze in and take advantage of the supposed $3 parking at the Federal parking lot with restaurant visit as quoted on the ComedySportz website. When we arrived we were told that there was no such validation and parking was $7 flat, annoying but a small price to pay for the convenience and we saved by ordering drinks off the happy hour menu as well. We had a couple drinks, got our tickets at will call, and found seats for the four of us together easily around 4:45, so of course we had time to purchase more drinks at the bar - it was a surprisingly good selection of wines and beers! When the games started it was good, but as it progressed you could kinda tell that they were somewhat staged/planned instead of being purely improvised. They asked the audience for a three letter or one syllable name to use for a rhyming game and when my bf's dad called his out they didn't even rhyme it though he was the one called upon. It also did not help that you could not really hear what was being said with one microphone being on the floor of the stage instead of on all the players - especially poor condition for our semi-elderly guests to hear any of the jokes. The fact that the event was all ages, in my opinion, made the jokes pretty lame. There were two games in total with an intermission in between; it was fine for about two hours of family friendly entertainment. Our tickets could be used to attend free games all summer, but I don't think we'll be using them.

I have a PE class here at night. It's a really nice field and is well lit at night. It's a rubber…read moretrack so it's not all hard on your knees when you jog. My lil brother and his wife used to run xc and track here and liked the track as well. Bathrooms are okay. Normally they don't have soap, paper towels, or seat covers during the games, but at least they're not all gross. I don't know if the water fountains work, I'm afraid to drink from them and normally bring my own water. The concession stands here during football games are okay and the staff is pretty friendly.

Firestone Fieldhouse is one of the homes of Pepperdine University athletics. The Waves basketball…read moreteams and volleyball teams play in this intimate gym. There are two seating options: wooden courtside bleachers, and theater style seating above the bleachers. A glass partition separates the two. If you are in the student bleachers, you might be standing the entire game. Sitting in the first few rows of the theater seats is not desirable. People will often spot a friend in the last row of bleachers and stand there to talk, leaning over the glass, obstructing the view of the court. If you purchase seats on the visitor's side of the gym, you probably will not encounter this problem. A concourse with bathrooms, a merchandise cart, and a concession stand is on the west side of the gym. Food and drinks are relatively inexpensive. Alcoholic beverages are not served. The concourse opens up to one end of the court, where you can stand and watch the game very close to the action. Wheelchair spaces are also available in this location. Pepperdine's expressed interest in getting a new gym from time to time, but I hope they do not. I would miss the intimacy that makes sports events at the Firestone Fieldhouse so fun to attend when there's a packed house.

There's a lively music scene here with a DJ, something for a younger crowd. The food at one vendors was not good at all. It was served room temperature and not warm at all. The game was fun to watch. We attended two UCLA football games this season at the Rose Bowl. The Fresno State and the Oregon…read moregames. Both games ended up in a loss for UCLA and a heartbreak since the scores were so close. We have tailgating parties in advance so are stomachs are usually satisfied and we just have snacks and drinks during the game. We went to the beer garden for the first time during the Oregon game. You do need tickets to enter this area. It was very crowded and difficult to maneuver, but if you want to chill and take a break from the game, this may be the place for you. I love the Rose Bowl and the location near the foothills of Pasadena. On a nice day especially during the Fall season, it's a perfect place to be. They completed some upgrades to the Rose Bowl in the past few years and offer a variety of concessions. Even though we don't usually partake in the food since we eat at our tailgating event, the food looks quite good. We park at the Parson's Open Lot and take the shuttle to the stadium. This seems to work out the best for us and we don't have to walk miles to get to the stadium from the golf course.
