I would like to relate my experience of using Gerard of Four Oaks Dry Cleaning Ltd for the first and possible only time.
I dropped off my wedding dress for cleaning and boxing (so it could be stored) on Monday 4th April 2016 and explained what I was looking for. I was given a collection date of Monday 2nd May - 4 weeks written on the receipt. I paid my deposit for what I thought was a good prompt service.
I eventually collected the dress boxed on Saturday 2nd July almost 13 weeks later. During this time I made several phone calls and also called in on two occasions only to be told it will be done soon.
Saturday 2nd July we called to collect the dress. It was now boxed for my collection after viewing it the week before. I would say, I was very impressed by the way it was presented and the time taken to display it in the keep sake box.
However, at no time was I offered an apology for the delay or any compensation. A lot of this could easily have been avoided, by giving a realistic date at the beginning - we never said we were in a rush. Curtesy calls on the progress would have been helpful, knowing we were chasing the return of the dress.
Finally an antique Giraffe button was missing from the inside of the dress on inspection, this was raised on the day. It has never been found, and again no apology or compensation offered. read more
