The real gem of this place is the basement which is home to vintage books at killer prices. There are books wall to wall on everything you can imagine- art & culture and history and ancient medicine. I purchased a book about interpreting dreams for $1.99, a book about giving a toast for $4.99 and a book of dog stickers for 60 cents! The staff was friendly and let us browse the aisles to our hearts content. There is a bathroom inside but you need to ask for a key to use it. A "bonus" of this place is it is located to a handy map of the downtown area and neat photo ops like the red London Telephone booth at the end of the block. Masks are required inside the store and staff wore masks as well.

They are mainly a comic book shop but they also have lots of collectibles, books, graphic novels, t-shirts, some costumes, and other geeky knickknacks. It is a fairly large shop for being in downtown Oshkosh. The prices are what you would expect at a local comic book shop. They also currently have an amazing collection of Pops for sale but that wont be up for long. The staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly. They take part in Free Comic Book day every May. If you are looking for a place to get comic books and collectibles you should make it House of Heroes.

The shop is quite disorganized so if you are looking for something specific so you will have to search for it. The majority of their toys are not packaged. Some of the items are overpriced. I found a Rainbow Brite Doll from the 80's with her eyes colored in with what seems to be permanent marker yet it was marked for $15-$20. Some of the items that were still packaged, they had it behind the cashier so you would have to bother him to look st it closer. The establishment was easy to find. I parked on the side instead of the back parking. The back parking is tiny and crowded.

They have much of what I remember from the old Ben Franklin chain - craft supplies, cheapo toys, candy, and random everyday goods. However, unlike my childhood memories, many things were crazy overpriced. A bag of plastic army men? Nine dollars. Yep. Small bunches of plastic flowers were in the $5-12 range. There were some great steals (all greeting cards were $1), but most purchases just weren't practical. Many items in the pharmacy were either expired or just about to and items were very random. I'm not familiar enough with Nekoosa to know if there are other alternatives or if this is where to get random items but it's not a bad stop on a lark. If you don't have anything in mind you might stumble across a great find, but if you have a particular mission you might come up short.

Everything was clean and in great condition, and snagged a few items that were still brand new. Prices were very reasonable--onesies were a dollar and sleepers were 2-3. Got a huge bag for my $20, when that would have covered just a few new items at a retail store. Also really appreciated the selection of non-pink-or-blue items, everything I got was beautiful orange, green, yellow, red, which aren't the easiest to find for baby clothes!

They will make you go thru the hassel of filing a claim with the company. Initially they admitted they have a lot of trouble with that company, and if the company refuses to replace, they will just replace it. The final outcome is you will have to just buy a new stove.
