A definite hit with the regulars and tourists. Located along the Potomac waterfront this park stretches between the Washington Harbour complex to Key Bridge joining 225 miles of public parkland along the Potomac River, stretching from Mount Vernon, Virginia to Cumberland, Maryland. There is ample seating available here and is a good place to relax. There is also a small fountain plaza, where kids like to get drenched in the summers. They also have a separate bike trail linking the Capital Crescent Trail with the Rock Creek Trail. I look forward to coming here again when I come back to DC! read more

Our family loves Georgetown Waterfront Park! It is a lovely spot to people watch - families, couples young and old, students studying, bikers, runners, etc, all love this 10 acre park. We like to get some take-away food and just sit here on a nice day, or watch the ducks swim in the water. But the biggest draw for us (because we have two littles) is the fountain! It is really wonderful for the kiddos and probably one of the more popular spray/fountain areas in the city. A few things that knock it to 4 stars instead of 5, and this is really related to the water fountain area: -There are no public bathrooms anywhere nearby! Not really great when you have a 3 year old in a wet bathing suit who REALLY NEEDS TO GO. (fellow parents, you understand how dire these situations can be!) -Virtually no shaded area...and we all know you need some shade in DC summers -I think the water in the fountains is highly, highly chlorinated or something. My youngest (1 year old) spends plenty of time at splash pads/fountains/pools, but has had two similar bad reactions to water in her life resulting in a rash (not serious, cleared up in about an hour but worth noting). One of those was a pool in MA, and the other time was here. So if your kiddo has super sensitive skin, take note. read more

Great place to eat, people watch, unwind, wind up, relax, party, drink, drink and drink. With Sequoia, Tony and Joes, Nicks, Orange Anchor, Fishers Farmers and Bakers and other smaller eateries and specialty shops near by, you can find yourself losing a lot of time hanging out there. But you won't regret the time you lose down there, infact, you might want to do it again and again in the summer. One thing I would like to do is ride my bike around the area. On one of the hottest days of the year, last Saturday, my buddy and I went to DC for a day. He's from southern MD and basically country, so I was desperate to expose him to the national of America~ This place was perfect! It's free! Perfect for dates, especially for yuppies. Even though the heat increased, the water helped kept us cool and chilly too. We wanted to go paddle boarding or kayaking but just sitting on the bench was the ideal spot. Watching bikers bike around, kids playing in the water fountain, the sun setting, and Potomac river just nailed it. There was no trash at all, besides trashcans, this was pretty clean area! It is very nice to walk around and in the winter it is not very busy. From the water views, to the various dockside happy hours (with live music in the summers and ice skating rink in the winter), to river boat sightseeing tours and the brand new fountain/bench area, I absolutely love this place. The tourists haven't exactly overrun it yet, but who knows how much longer it can be kept (a relative) secret! I love to go for a run here, have had quite a few picnics, and just strolled by to get to Georgetown without having to walk along M St. If you are ever in the area with some time to spare, grab a drink on the water, or a coffee for a stroll. This park is beautiful. I love it. I love the steps leading down to the water. I love the wide walking paths. I love the ample seating space and mostly, I love the fountain. Also, it has great views of Roosevelt Island and the Key Bridge. It is surprisingly not super crowded. We took our sandwiches down there for lunch and easily found a place to sit. read more

This place is adorable. It's a huge, rather fancy building with a variety of restaurants directly on the Potomac, flanked by some park-ish areas where you can lounge. It's always packed and somewhat loud (don't expect privacy), but that's somewhat of the appeal. Kids will love the fountain - there always seems to be 3-5 kids jumping in the water at any given time (even though, to their parents' apparent dismay, they tend to do so with a cell phone in hand!) Also, feed the ducks. They are cute and hungry. read more

One of the best park to hang out and to enjoy the beautiful view of Potomac and sunset for free. It's very neat and clean. You can bring your blanket & a picnic basket or you can use one of those benches there but they are limited. There are so many places close by to eat and to shop. AMC is also right there & waterfront bars are amazing to hang out with friends. Sunday parkings are free and Saturday after 10pm, there is no charge. Before that, it's $2 an hour on the street. read more

If and when you tire of the tumultuous torrent of commercialism on M Street and other areas of Georgetown, you can find some relative peace and reinvigorate in the waterfront scenery. Bring a snack or a beverage, stay hydrated in the sun, wear decent shoes and stroll about with your favorite people. It's a lovely time. You can check out some historic areas of the Canal and Towpath, view the Kennedy Center, be dazzled by the Potomac, and just unwind from whatever might have you too tightly wound. My main critique, because I like mileage... it's too short in length and could be longer. Also, there are some decent sitting areas around the park and some green space, but I always welcome more greenification- perhaps some educational green spaces? Nice stroll though! We went for the "splash pad", it's really meant for older kids. The little almost 2 year old I was with was terrified by it. The jet streams are just a little rough/high for little ones. It was nice to see the waterway with boats and we ate lunch just a 5-10 minute walk from it. read more

There's the fountains, the labyrinth, and a bunch of great places to watch the water. This is the spot to catch a water taxi for some interesting view of the city. Trying to drive and park in the immediate vicinity is often a miserable experience, but if you can get here, this is a good place to relax. read more

So glad that this park was finally opened a couple of years ago after watching it be under construction for years. It's a simple park with some benches and a walk through fountain and a killer view of the Potomac River, Key Bridge, and the Kennedy Center. It is well lit at night and K St NW borders it so if you can actually find a parking space then it is a relaxing place to chill out for a while. Since it is a newer park the trees are still small to medium height so there isn't much shade. Be aware if it is a hot sunny day. This will resolve over time as the trees grow and fill in. No bathrooms but you can try to sneak into one of the places in Washington Harbor to use theirs or try one of the port o potties near the Key Bridge boathouse area. read more

This park is a wonderful stroll and a great way to travel to the main area in DC on your Lambor-feet'ies; or your Pin-toes, depending on your salary bracket. Ohhh, I kill me. (Not literally, don't get too excited.) I think the other side of the water is Virginia? I was here on vacation and am unfamiliar with the area but it seemed that way. This is one of D.C.'s highlights and a top spot in Georgetown. Ideal place for waterfront walks, jogs, boating, relaxing, waterfront dining, picnics, snacking, and romance. The walkable pathway is scenic and calming with many places to sit and take a break. The pathway is short, but it takes you along the Potomac River. Perfect for photos. Along the docks you'll see many boats cruises, I've personally been on the boomerang pirate ship cruise & it was nice. I recommend taking any cruise, just make sure you book online in advance for better pricing (Living Social, Groupon, Certifikid). There are a variety of dining options, some right alongside the waterfront which gives you a beautiful view of the Potomac. The view will cost you a pretty penny $$$. The only downsides are the parking situation and the absence of proper shade in intense heat or rain. There are parking garages nearby but it gets expensive if it's not the weekend (weekday more than $11 weekend $10 all day), and street parking is limited. Book in advance or come early. Overall a fantastic spot that can't be skipped! read more

Can I say that this place made me fell in love with the DC area and the east coast? Please, I am a hard core sunshine, warmth, and beach girl. A total island girl, and I fell in love with the east coast because of this place? Yeah!!! The place is very quaint and romantic. When I was there, I felt like it took me back to Europe! So very cute! It has awesome views, you can stroll along the waterfront, find kids playing in the fountain, and adults running, biking, sitting around. If I live there, it would definitely be my favorite place to lazy around on the weekend, and hanging around. It's a very beautiful, relaxing, and "colorful" place to be! read more

It doesn't matter if you are 1 or 101, this fountain is a great place to beat the summer heat & humidity. It is in a gorgeous setting with walking trails, pretty flowers, shaded benches, airplanes flying overhead about every 5 minutes (and what little kid doesn't love those?!) and ducks, seagulls, & other birds down by the water. (Please do NOT FEED THE ANIMALS though, people. Human food is very bad for them for a number of reasons!) Anyway, the area with the fountain is free, safe, & generally clean. Bring towels & a change of clothes. People watching is always fun too. I'm assuming the fountain runs 7 days per week, May thru September, but I am not sure about the hours. There really isn't anything else to say. Just go cool off and enjoy. read more

Came here a few times in the past and it was Beautiful, but nowadays so many people playing Pokemon Go.. It just ruins it for me. The scenery is fantastic. It is cool around the body of water during summer due to convection. There is a labyrinth meditating circle that is interesting. It takes you around a path in a circle where it uses pretty much every bit of the circle as a stepping path. The point is to meditate while you walk and by the time you exit it, you cleared your mind and are ready to move on. I visited recently and there was so much trash everywhere and it smelled like sewage. Overall, this is a great place for a walk alone or with friends or on a date. There is metered parking in Georgetown. Most of it you have to parallel park on streets. It is nice that the streets are one way, but sometimes, the narrow roads in Georgetown makes me uncomfortable. Lots of restaurants and stores to visit when you go to Georgetown. Sigh... Pokemon Go needs to stop. read more

What a beautiful park this is! On a nice day, you'll see Theodore Roosevelt Island clearly along with Arlington in the background and the Frances Scott Key Bridge nearby. It really wasn't too crowded in the morning; just mostly the regular bicyclists and joggers. read more

When it comes to parks and views, it doesn't get much better than the Georgetown waterfront. Gorgeous greenery, lots of space for walking, jogging, bike-riding, and taking in the best views of the Potomac. Just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Georgetown's famed M Street with the Harbour as an end destination as well, it doesn't get much better than enjoying nature with the option to shop and eat in some of DC's most fabulous establishments. Very family-friendly, picturesque, and not especially crowded during the week, I frequent this park nearly every day when the weather permits as my office building is on K St. This is the perfect place to sit, relax, eat lunch, and take a break from it all. read more

This is a lovely park in Georgetown that extends from Washington Harbuor to the Key Bridge. There are cycling paths, running paths, etc. There are also plenty of benches for relaxation. It's a great place to watch the boats go by in the summer. One of the highlights are all of the attractions in Washington Harbour, which currently features an ice skating rink plus the long-standing restaurants that occupy the space. This is a great spot for people watching and gets quite crowded in the summer. I have never attempted to drive here (I have always walked from foggy bottom metro which is a little over 1 mile), but I imagine, like most places in Georgetown, parking is difficult. read more

i spent some time here with my immediate family during the christmas holiday and we enjoyed strolling along the potomac river, enjoying the scenery and nature. there is a labyrinth structure that my brother and i enjoyed tracing, apparently, it takes a bit longer than you'd expect, but we were definitely entertained. great place to take a stroll in the georgetown neighborhood of our nation's capital! we also saw lots of runners here, so if you're a runner, you will enjoy jogging along the river. tip: parking is tricky here, esp if you want to park along the streets by the meters, so i'd suggest parking in a structure or outdoor lot to make your life easier. read more

I like this park. I like that it is a 10 minute walk from my Foggy Bottom home. I like that it gives you a view across to the uninhabited Roosevelt Island, so you might actually have the illusion that you're not in the middle of a big urban area. I like that they are expanding and revamping the western end of the park so that when the whole project is done there will be lots of new benches and more grassy areas for picnicking (and of course letting the dog do its business... but let's pretend for a minute that isn't where you also picnic!). And I REALLY like that if I come down here by myself in the afternoon to sit for a few minutes, I'm not accosted by a bunch of homeless bums or subject to indecent public exposure (both of which have happened to me on more than one occasion in the middle of an otherwise pleasant afternoon at Dupont Circle). In short, this little piece of waterfront green space is an asset to the surrounding neighborhoods and a wonderful place to take a stroll or just sit a while after a long afternoon of Georgetown shopping. read more

There are not many places in Washington DC nicer than Georgetown park on a summer evening. Simply amazing! The paths along the Potomac River give you beautiful views of the Rosslyn skyline, Kennedy Center, and the Key Bridge! . There is no metro station in Georgetown, thankfully, because there is already so many people out and about. Don't be lazy, walk! There is so many things to see. There actually is parking but good luck finding one without stalking people. Unlike the tiny sidewalks on M Street, along the waterfront there are wide walkways and plenty of cool buildings and flowers to admire along the way. There are dining cruises, quick tours, kayak and paddle board renting to explore the Potomac River. Dine riverside at one of the many restaurants on the waterfront. So many things to do. So many things to see. Always a great day visiting the waterfront in Georgetown. Don't forget to take a selfie :) read more
