Georgetown Waterfront Park is one of the best urban parks in DC. It's on the Potomac overlooking Rosslyn in Arlington, VA. There are plenty of walk ways and benches to enjoy the water and a sunny day. They also have informational signs throughout explaining the history and purpose of eco-friendly innovations found in the park. Just off the park is a bridge that reminds people of Seattle. Under the bridge, you can find a coffee shop, a theater, and a few restaurants. Pro-tip: Walk a few blocks to Baked and Wired for DC's best cupcakes. read more

What's not to like at this lovely park by the Georgetown waterfront? The benches are strategically placed throughout the park in such ways that you get shades from nearly every seats. That's great news because it gets unpleasantly hot and humid in DC this time of the year. I also appreciated how much shades are available in general at this park. This made it easy to walk dogs like cavalier spaniels who tends to do terribly in hot humid weather. Many of the good restaurants such as Fiola Mare is available right from the steps of the park. You can also hop on the DC tour boat and some allows for wining and dining on them. Perhaps the only gripes I have are finding parking and not being able to find dog waste stations easily. No big deal for the most part but mildly annoying nonetheless. read more

It's sometimes nice to walk along the river, but that's about it. I can imagine it was much more crowded pre-COVID and after Memorial Day due to the fountains. There were some other families walking but mostly just runners and cyclists passing by. This is more of an after dinner stroll park. read more

Georgetown Park - Shopping Centers Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I came here last Saturday and haven't been here since I first moved to the DMV almost four years ago. Wow, this place seems to be going down hill. Not only was it pretty empty, but the restrooms were gross and didn't seem to be cleaned on a regular basis. I guess they are remodeling, so only select stores are currently open. Not sure why someone would come here, especially when there are tons of better options on M street. read more

Love it, but used to love it a lot lot more. It is beautiful, Nicer than many other shopping centers and they have nice selection of stores. We arrived Saturday morning, before it got over busy, and we were able to shop for what we came for. When it started to get busy we went for a bite. Saturday morning, we were one of the firsts who got here. But still the bathrooms on the first floor weren't clean enough. I don't think anyone cleaned them. I think they should have them cleaned, and I mean thorough cleaned before the shoppers arrive. read more

When signing on to Gilt Groupe at 12:05, it feels like the economy is in full swing again: designer clothes flying off the e-shelves, ladies hungrily waiting for the items in your cart to expire, and "SOLD OUT" signs popping up next to everything remotely attractive. Who said anything about a recession? But then you go to The Shops at Georgetown Park and realize something is -in fact- very VERY wrong. I know DC is full of transplants, but I used to come to this mall over 10 years ago when my sister went to Georgetown and it most certainly looked different. The hugest discrepancy is that it used to have stores. Now it seems almost everything has gone out of business. Georgetown Park is the mall equivalent of a ghost town. Retail carcasses line the floors. Few stores without sidewalk entrances are occupied. Shop windows are being turned into advertisements for other stores. I half expect Tumbleweeds to fly lazily across the third floor. No matter how much I dislike malls, it's depressing to see the metamorphosis. The Shops have retained one major advantage (though it doesn't seem to have kept them alive): AC in the summer. Seriously... who likes to prowl the streets in the summer in Georgetown? One puff of cool air from Anthropologie and I'm a hippie convert for at least 30 minutes. It's too bad that Intermix is the only good thing going for Georgetown Park anymore. read more

I'm torn about writing this review. I should of wrote one the first time I came here which was in 2010. I recently came here again and it was really heart breaking. The first time I came, I was a fan of this place. It was indoors, not many people and I had fun in the fun shops that it had. When I recently came, it was a desert! The place was empty and almost all the stores I saw last time were gone. I feel like this place is going to close down but it can't because it is the home to some major shops like H&M, Antropologie, JCrew, etc. read more

(I'd give this one star for its remaining status as an actual mall, but for the state that it's in -- still pretty and mostly clean -- and for its potential if recovered, I'm at least throwing in a second star.) This type of mall brings tears to my eyes -- a dead mall that should be / could be / was so much better. The building's still in great shape though; if new stores and customers could be enticed in it seems like it could thrive. (Bringing in customers might be an issue, but I'll get back to that...) Georgetown Park's a small mall, but has three floors of (now-closed) stores; several spacious open areas with benches, tables, and (now turned off) water features where customers can rest, interact, and enjoy special events; and numerous places to eat . . . well, previously "numerous" places to eat, but now only one or two. There're large skylights, showing the sky between small office buildings (or condos?). Polished bronze fixtures shine amid dark brown woods and dark green paint. Several stairwells and escalators, and at least one elevator, give access to the various floors. There's also interesting and fun art spread around the mall, including an excellent J. Seward Johnson, Jr. sculpture of a man eating lunch, which you can rest beside on a bench. This mall's always been somewhat hidden from many people behind its beautiful and subtle brick façade, which probably didn't help draw continued crowds. And it really can't help that the parking garage costs $16 for 3 hours, that parking otherwise in the area is at expensive meters or hard-sought two-hour (for the most part) spaces in residential areas, and that there's no Metro nearby (although the walks from Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom are only about 30 minutes . . . which might not be fun depending on how many shopping bags you're carrying). The bus is convenient, but unless you live downtown you still have to sort out parking on one end. Unlike many malls in this stage of 'life' (such as it is), Georgetown Park remains in excellent shape and cleanliness despite the near-dearth of remaining stores. (I say cleanliness, but I admit that I didn't visit the bathrooms that so many others have described as horrible.) I'm not sure what will happen next here, but I hope something good comes of the space. read more

The Shops at Georgetown, why do you always smell like a sewage line ruptured somewhere in your depths? Seriously, every time I have ventured into this mall, it has smelled to high heaven. Plus, the store selection is a limited verson of what you would expect of most malls: Victoria's Secret, Express, H & M, Anthropologie, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, plus a lot of other stores that are independently run & seem to be pretty lame overall. I am kinda sad that they took out the shop that sold ceramic eagles that proclaimed "freedom isn't free!" That place was 100% class. The DMV on the lower level also adds something special (although it is an awesome DMV...those guys rock, but that's a different review). Basically, this mall in no way fits with the luxury-brand madness prevalent on the street of Georgetown. This place needs a serious overhaul on both stores and smell. But if you're in the mood for Benihana, they have one. read more

With the exception of Anthropologie and H&M there is very little in the way of shops worth visiting here. I love the indoor, old world Parisian feel of the decor though. The tiles, the fountain, the bistro chairs an the banisters of the center court are amazing. It's usually pretty quiet so its a great escape from the streets of Georgetown if you need to get away for a minute. read more

The Georgetown Mall is much smaller than those you would find in the suburbs, as it has less than 100 stores. But for its size, I'd say the quality of this mall is pretty good. Definitely go to the suburbs if you are looking for a big mall, but this place does have stores I love, such as Arden B, Anthropologie and White House Black Market. Some of the smaller specialty stores are strange, and you wonder how they stay in business, true. But overall the Georgetown Mall is a passable collection of clothing and specialty item stores. As far as restaurants, there is a small Benihana on the lower floor, and though I've never been to that particular one, people seem to enjoy it. You can always go out to M St and eat at Clyde's or one of the many other places in that area. There is a parking lot here, and they are usually super strict about validating. They will make you show what you have purchased and also a receipt -- how annoying! read more

I remember this place from when I used to visit my cousin in VA but in all the time that I've been living in DC I could never find it when I went to Georgetown. Today I realized how stupid I was for missing its obvious location. When I stepped in I remembered the times my cousin and I would go here and how at that time it was considered so nice and full of really great stores but with the advent of all the new stores on M St. itself the only stores worth going to here are J Crew and Sisley. It kind of feels like a really well kept version of one of those dying out of date shopping centers. A few comments about the place: 1. I have never seen a larger more patronized J. Crew in my life - not in SF, not at the Grove in LA, not in San Jose, or even Sacramento which is a lot more like DC. Of course, J. Crew and DC style seem to go hand in hand so I don't know why I was surprised 2. The inside decor is very nice somehow with all the windows, plants, green black and gold color scheme this place really seems to bring the outside in. 3. It kind of reminds me of a much nicer version of the Nordstrom side of the SF Shopping Centre because the escalator layout makes a lot more sense here than the SF Centre. read more

I consider the Shops at Georgetown Park generally as a last resort for shopping. I guess it's becomes most of the stores on the inside I've never heard of or they're expensive (or both). There is a chocolate place inside that my friend swears by. I guess it helps that the H&M has an entrance to the street. The food court is just OK. Benihana is expensive. Overall, it's not a place I go to often, and I live just a couple blocks away. read more

This place has been neglected for years and pretty much falling apart. Aside from the decent store fronts on M street, the rest of it is in a depressing state. The only decent thing I can say about this place is the WSC gym on the top level, which is excellent and the DMV on the lower level. Otherwise, eeek! Of course, this mess is the result of two big DC developers playing "piss contest" and trying to take control of this property, but now that a new investment firm has purchased this place in auction, one can only hope that better days are yet to come! read more

I worked in Georgetown for nearly 3 years and I used to go to the food court at the mall a lot because it was the close to work and the food came out fast. The only sit-down "fancy" restaurants are Clyde's and Benihana's. As for the rest: Café Europe: This is not directly in the food court, but is located past the elevators to the parking garage. Really friendly people here. I like the bubble tea and iced tea. I haven't tried their coffee or smoothies. While the bubble tea is not the best I've had, it is better than Snap, which is your other alternative in Gtown for bubble tea. Fresh Choice: This is the eatery that's located near the entrance with the escalators and ATM. I ate at this place the most, because it seemed they offered the healthiest options. You can choose an entree and two sides for under $8. Oftentimes they will have salmon or chicken curry. The guy would always give me the biggest piece of chicken for some reason. They have basmati rice, mixed salad, pasta salad, and other side dishes. Georgetown Deli: Located on the other side of the lower level, this place offers decent sandwiches and hot dogs. This would be my second option in this mall. They take cash only, though. Also, if you are particular about what goes in your sandwich, they will put mustard, mayo, tomatoes, etc in everything unless you tell them beforehand. Hunan Express: Has the best deal on combos but the food's not that great. There is better Chinese food in Gtown. They have a daily special that is under $5, so that's good for people on a budget. When they are slammed it can take a while to get your food. Seven Brothers Subs: I only ate here once. I remembered it just being unmemorable. Arby's: I have fond memories of Arby's because there was this teenaged employee with a snaggle tooth that used to give me extra curly fries and stuff. This would be my third choice to eat in this mall. For some reason this food court always gets slammed with tourists and the best word I can use to describe it is "dank". It looks pretty with the fountain, but it's just dark and gloomy. If you want more lighting, I would recommend eating in the area by Georgetown Deli. read more

Very dark...the mall itself seems lifeless and almost like a tomb compared to the sunny, street-side shopping outside! Even though it was late afternoon, a number of shops were closed and I couldn't figure out if that was normal or if it was some weird off day. The Shops at GP reminds me of Cumberland Mall in Atlanta except with even less foot traffic and less national store brands and restaurants but with a more upscale design. Express, H&M, Victoria's Secret.....I only stopped at VS and did a quick walk through Express. I spent less than 20 minutes at the shops. I think a better fit would be to add those three stores into the row of shops and restaurants that line the street. There are many vacancies here, maybe adding a department store would attract more shoppers. read more

While on vacation, my friend needed to pick up some cheap tops, so my GPS navigated us to the H&M in this mall. I was surprised to see how desolate it was. There were only a few stores open, but at least they were popular brands like Express and Victoria's Secret. It was a bit odd to see an indoor mall in Georgetown. I was expecting the GPS to navigate us to a shop along M Street. My friend found what she needed at both H&M and Victoria's Secret, although the customer service was dismal at best. Both stores did not acknowledge our presence until we were at the cash register, even after looking for an associate for help. At least the stores had what we needed. read more

The food court is a good, cheap lunch alternative in one of the most expensive areas of DC. I used to go to the Chinese place and get the dumplings. So yummy! Stores are pretty generic, but not bad. The stores on Wisconsin Ave and M. St are probably better, though. read more

An old friend used to love this place, considering it the hidden treasure of Georgetown dining. A reasonably priced, fast, and delicious selection of ethnic food. Chinese, Italian, Mexican. Lots of MSG. With the low ceilings, chlorine-fountain smells, and patio-style seating, this dark, windowless area feels safe, and one can speak freely of shady deals. In fact, there is something mildly shady about the entire foodcourt ...maybe that it is always empty. But you can't beat the cuisine. It reminds me of student union, home at UNL, and makes me wonder why Gtown had such a lousy food court. I go for Sbarro every time...because really, isn't it tops in the Court of Foods? read more

I was a little upset after busting our humps getting to this mall. TWO separate web sites said not to miss this place if your shopping in Georgetown. And even walking up to the entrance we were excited to see the list STILL UP with all the shops they had in side. Boy were we shocked to only find basically three shops left open in this ghost town. Its such a shame because it still looks absolutely gorgeous in side and after dodging and diving on the over crowded Georgetown sidewalks in the Virginia heat a nice indoor mall would have been nice. read more

This is a very nice mall but many of the stores are closed down and the shopping selection seems like its consistently going down hill... I wouldn't say its a must see shopping center since the selection is limited and there are dozens of amazing shops just outside on M street. read more

This place is creepy and severly needs an update. Every other retail space is empty, the fake plants hanging from everywhere, no shoppers, bathrooms are beyond gross...someone please come in here and give it an over-haul!! Back in the 80s this was the most beautiful and magical mall you've ever seen. Entering it felt like you had entered a time machine or the world of Harry Potter. Rather Victorian or Belle Epoque in feel with it's beautiful green ironwork banisters, old world tiles, ferns and skylights, it was magical at Christmas. The original stores were some of the finest. Then, something went wrong, the stores left, it went into foreclosure and now it's been "redone" as a boring, ordinary shopping experience. Not worth the time anymore. read more

A pleasant mall, surprisingly quiet, and a shelter away from all the hubbub of Georgetown itself. The shops are great and selectively placed - not your typical stores, like at those huge, mainstream Westfield Malls - nope, these stores are special. Though there are some nice chains like Victoria's Secret, H&M, and FYE. There are two eateries on the lower level. On one side is the main eatery with many nice food stands, and on the other is a small, quieter eatery with a deli. A very nice place to read in the morning. This is a great, unique mall. Very different from others in DC and Maryland, and that's why I like it. :) read more

Really quite quaint. The Mezzanine is a nice place to sit, write poetry and grab some grub. Then you have all range of shops. Check the website for a list of shops. It is enclosed and feels like your in an Aladins cave. Very small yet nice merchandise. read more

I love this mall because it has your staples (JCREW, H&M, Victoria's Secret, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie etc...) and then it has quirky, small boutiques and dress shops. The hat store is the great because the owner, Anthony, is extremely knowledgeable and a gas to talk to! Also, it's NEVER crowded so you can get your holiday, baby shower, etc... shopping done in half an hour and then go to Dean and DeLuca across the way and people watch for the rest of the day... read more

I don't know how to rate The Shops at Georgetown Park. There are simply no shops open that do not have street access. The entire mall is three stories of emptiness. On the first floor, there is one stall open in the food court, and there were about five people eating there. I don't understand why they don't close the mall and redevelop it. It has so much potential, but it just died one day. My family used to live in DC from 1987-1999, and we can remember this place being a bustling, active mall. My parents even remember President Clinton (and entourage) Christmas shopping there in the 1990's. It really was a shame seeing this mall completely empty. On another note, urban explorers should visit this place. It's abandoned, but open to the public! read more

I'm not sure if I visited the same place as all the other reviewers. I was at an outdoor strip mall but I saw pictures of what looks like the inside of a mall so maybe I missed the inside part. I kind of wish I hadn't since it was miserably hot outside when I visited. In any case, the building architecture is cute, I wouldn't say come here to shop though as much as I would just to have the experience. There were a lot of people from all over when I was there, during the summer. The couple shops I went in and looked around the staff seemed mostly disinterested in the fact that I was there and/or were just kind of rude and lacking people skills. I imagine with all the foreigners running around and shouting in their various languages that they must have started just tuning people out in general which is kind of sad. Finding a bathroom was more of a challenge than I originally expected so if you go, make sure you find out where the restrooms are first before you have held it for an hour or two because you might not be close to one when you need it. Two stars mostly for the Old Stone House and the fact that I like architecture. read more
