My favorite family tradition are the santons that we set out for Christmas each year. They are little crèche scenes that go beyond the manger and holy family to include the full retinue of villagers awaiting the Christ Child's birth. But santons are very much a tradition of the South of France. In fact, there is only one shop in Paris that sells santons: Georges Thuillier.
This little store specializes in religious trinkets: santons, jewelry, medals of the saints, etc. It is located just on the square at Saint Suplice. It is definitely worth visiting if you are shopping for a religious item to bring home as a gift--any traveler (or surfer) might appreciate a Saint Christopher's medal--and if you collect santons, as I do (specifically in the puce, or flea, size) you absolutely must come here to buy charming little figures for your own holiday traditions!
