Flag salute should be mandatory through out our nation and at John Adams it is. Yes there are a few misguided "want to be" activists (over at secondary), who, in all honesty, should just let it go and move on to the regular public school of their choice. The teachers on the primary side are all just the best. Learning and living JAA's 10 core values everyday is one of the very most important things they do along side the "three R's". The best thing you could do is enroll your kids at JAA at the youngest age possible. It is much harder for a middle or high school child to come here and fit in, however, if they had come up through the primary program here first, then there is no culture shock when they move up to the secondary school. Servant leadership is a good philosophy to teach but it probably means something a little different to everyone. At secondary, there is a problem with admin/board leadership. It sometimes seems to be "do as I say and not as I do". They may have an "at will" employment contract with the teaching staff, but it should only be exercised after all other remedies are exhausted. This year has been very troubling because of abuse (in my opinion) of the "at will" employment contract by both teachers and admin. I believe stability is very important to the education process. My daughter was very destabilized when one of her favorite teachers, without warning, announced he was leaving. Then, another favorite teacher was suddenly removed from his job. She and her class mates have had to endure multiple changes to teaching staff this year making it near impossible for the students to get settled into their routine. Hopefully JAA admin and board will come to terms with this self created and self destructive problem and act to correct it in the coming years. There absolutely is something to be said about the Mormon influence on this campus. It does exist. Since most of the board is Mormon, this should come as little surprise. It's not that it's a bad thing as this school would not exist were in not for these very same folks. In fact most of what goes on at JAA is a good thing. However there have been some incidents where Mormon students caused disruption in class, then ganged up on teaching staff to get them fired, bragging about it later on. This is very troubling. And when this author posted a comment on the parents communication website about what happened, it was immediately removed. When I requested the reason why my post had been censored, I received no response. I asked for my post to be returned to me, I received no response or reply. I would escalate this issue but for concern of reprisal toward my daughter. The admin/board of JAA clearly does not like to be challenged in any way. And I find that very troubling. None of this is a deal breaker for me though. My daughter for the most part loves the atmosphere here. She loves her teachers and friends she's made here and she will finish high school here. My reason for shinning light on these things is not to discourage enrollment. I still believe this is a fine school and that most all schools should be patterned after this one. No my reason is simply truth. If people know about these things they might ask about them when checking out the school for their children, and if they ask, then the school might consider doing things a little better. Bottom line is, I would like to see the school "police" itself better and continually be looking for ways to improve and/or right any wrongs they are responsible for. All in all, JAA is a great school, especially if you are looking to get your young student off to a great start!

Subject: Urgent Traffic Safety Concern Regarding John Adams Academy Drop-Off/Pick-Up…read more To the City of Roseville and the appropriate traffic and public safety officials, I am writing to formally raise a serious and ongoing traffic safety concern regarding John Adams Academy in Roseville and the way its parent drop-off and pick-up traffic is being allowed to impact surrounding public roads. This is no longer simply an inconvenience. It has become a significant public safety hazard. I have personally been involved in collisions involving drivers associated with the John Adams Academy traffic, and I continue to encounter extremely dangerous conditions during school drop-off and pick-up. The current traffic situation is particularly dangerous around the entrance from Harding Boulevard into the Sierra Gate Plaza area. During peak school traffic, the line of vehicles backs up onto the public roadway and interferes with normal traffic flow. Drivers are blocking the far-right lane, making it extremely difficult for through traffic to safely pass. At the same time, vehicles attempting to enter the school line are backing up beyond the designated center/"suicide" turn lane, creating additional conflicts for drivers who are simply trying to travel straight through the intersection. This creates a situation where drivers have limited safe options: they cannot reasonably use the right lane to get around the congestion, they cannot safely proceed straight without navigating vehicles that are stopped or attempting to merge, and they are forced into unpredictable lane changes and interactions with vehicles entering and exiting the school line. What is especially frustrating is that this is not an unexpected or isolated problem. John Adams Academy has an established driveline system and staff assigned to manage arrival and dismissal traffic. The Academy's own safety documentation states that its staff and volunteers are responsible for managing the driveline and that its procedures are intended to keep scholars, staff, visitors, and surrounding traffic safe. (John Adams Academy) Yet the traffic continues to spill onto public streets and interfere with people who have absolutely nothing to do with the school. The City of Roseville has an obligation to consider the safety of all road users--not just the families attending John Adams Academy. Residents, commuters, emergency vehicles, pedestrians, and businesses should not have to navigate an unsafe traffic pattern every school day. I am asking the City to take immediate action, including: * Conducting an on-site traffic and safety assessment during actual morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. * Enforcing existing traffic laws regarding blocking lanes and intersections. * Determining whether the current school entrance is appropriate for the volume of traffic it generates. * Requiring John Adams Academy to prevent its parent line from backing up onto public roadways. * Evaluating whether the Harding Boulevard entrance needs to be restricted, redesigned, or closed for school drop-off/pick-up purposes if the traffic cannot be contained safely on school property. * Reviewing the history of collisions and near-misses associated with this traffic pattern. * Developing a traffic-control solution that allows ordinary through traffic to continue safely without being forced into dangerous lane changes. At this point, I believe the City needs to stop treating this as a normal school traffic inconvenience and start treating it as the public safety issue that it is. A school should not be permitted to create a recurring traffic condition where drivers cannot safely use a public roadway simply because the school's drop-off and pick-up operation cannot contain its own traffic. I strongly urge the City of Roseville to investigate this situation before someone is seriously injured or killed. This entrance needs to be reevaluated, and if a safe solution cannot be implemented, the City should seriously consider shutting down or restricting this entrance for school drop-off and pick-up traffic. I would appreciate a written response explaining what the City intends to do to address this ongoing safety hazard. Sincerely, A concerned Roseville resident and driver

Sure, it's very nice and they remodeled it several years back, the teachers are friendly enough, but as far as education goes, parents can do much better. A damaging experience I would never repeat…read more I am deeply sorry to hear that children are still having experiences similar to what my son endured at St. Albans more than twenty years ago. Our family's experience with the school could not have been worse. What we were told during the enrollment process did not match the reality we encountered. In addition to tuition, families were expected to make substantial financial contributions and fulfill significant volunteer-hour requirements. As a single parent, I was unable to meet all of those demands. As a result, I felt my son was singled out and ostracized--not by the other students or their parents, but by the school administration itself. My son was labeled "too active." In his class, I felt that boys were often judged more harshly for displaying normal childhood energy, while children who could immediately sit quietly and conform were treated as the ideal. Although my son was not expelled, I ultimately and willingly removed him because I believed the environment had become toxic and damaging to his confidence. In my experience, school officials were unwilling to work constructively with children who did not fit their narrow definition of the "perfect student." The culture felt arrogant, inflexible, and dismissive of individual differences. The academic expectations were also unreasonable. No fourth grader should routinely be assigned three to four hours of homework each night. I was also extremely unhappy with the poor-quality, unhealthy food served during after-school care. My strongest advice to parents is to find a school that leads with kindness, patience, compassion, and a genuine willingness to support each child as an individual. Based on our family's experience, St. Albans was unequivocally not that place.

This school has a huge bullying problem perpetuated by second grade tracher Marianne Wilson. If…read moreyou're child is entering 2nd grade and is a boy in her class, you've scored. If you have a girl you are absolutely screwed. A first grade girl was kicked then poked with straws and utensils. She was so tiny they tossed her around like a rag doll. You'd think those boys would get detention or suspended...nope. Another parent had to file a Williams Rights Act complaint woth the District against the school and Marianne Wilson because they failed to let a student take home and bring back their school books daily. Aren't school books a basic necessity for school?!? A second grade girl was sexually assaulted on campus by a boy. However because the boy was under 4th grade in the eyes of the law it's only considered bullying. Another kid was bullied so bad that they had to switch classrooms and the boys that bullied that child would loiter outside the classroom. It got so bad that this child was no longer allowed to go out on recess because the school could not guarantee the kids safety while on campus. The child had to be escorted by staff. Are you kidding me?!?! Another girl was physically assaulted by a boy and after the investigation it was determined it was an accident. Uhm how many times do you accidently punch another kid...wtf. The mother of the boy that was the offender that did the physical assault was the room mom so nothing happened to the golden child. The principal Greg O'Meara was absolutely the worst. That kid that was sexually assaulted the childs parents went to O'Meara and asked him what his remedy was and he stated to them, 'what do you want me to do there's only six weeks left in school'. The principal had already asked for a transfer so he did not care one lick about those kids. The lunch lady would admonish the kids that had an under $5 balance on their meal accounts. She even told the kids that she would turn them away if they tried to get a hot meal even if they had a positive balance but the balance was low. Not low enough to where they could not purchase a hot meal. Just having a low balance even if they had enough to purchase a hot meal. Turn a kid away even if they had enough to cover their meal. That's insane! One parent had to complain to the Board of Trustees to get the lunch lady to stop. The yard duty are horrible at their job and kids get hurt real bad. To the point where kids were missing school to avoid the bullies because they would get hurt at recess. Then when the yard duty found out they never told anyone so that bad kids kept doing horrible things because nothing was ever reported. Another kids parents was threatened with having their kid kicked out of school (notified by mail only 1 day prior to being kicked out) because the school didn't mark on the outside of the school record folder that they had received the shot records. How completely idiotic of them. A simple mistake, ok. But not checking a folder then trying to kick a kid out because of their mistake and only notifying the parent 1 day but they knew about this for two weeks. Unacceptable. There are a few good people here. I'd say the male nurse is pretty great and I've heard the tutoring center teacher is pretty awesome. But I have not heard of or experienced a great teacher at this school that nourishes the child's mind in a positive manner. If you want your kid to either become the bully or get bullied verbally and physically go ahead and send them to Quail Glen. Your kid will come out nice and f'd up all on your taxpayer dime. If you can I'd highly recommend moving out of the district or requesting a transfer. We are leaving this hell hole. Worse school ever. Bullies are rampant. Staff is either incompetent or disinterested. Kids are being physically and sexually assaulted by other students. Multiple complaints have been filed against the school. The former principal ended up leaving to a place in Santa Cruz to become head of student services. The district promised this year 18/19 would be different. There is no way we are coming back. Ever!

This condescending attitude is part of a broader, harsh culture at the school where students are frequently met with intimidation and even bizarre, "crazy" comments that have no place in an educational setting. By shaming students for gaps in understanding, teachers prioritize their own ego over student growth, signaling that curiosity is an inconvenience. Such behavior contradicts the virtues the school claims to uphold, creating a hypocritical environment where "virtue" is merely a performative slogan. Ultimately, this harsh and unpredictable treatment stifles intellectual curiosity and breeds resentment, transforming the classroom from a sanctuary of learning into a space of fear.
