A friend invited me to Café Alhambra for almuerzo (sort of like brunch, for those Americans reading…read morethis) and I have to say that the tortilla was very nice, the bread was fresh, and the coffee was very welcome. The people working here were quite nice, too, and there are articles on the wall proclaiming the accolades received for their tortillas...
If you have never had tortilla española, then don't be fooled by the "omelette" or "frittata" appellation. Those things have different names FOR A REASON! Tortilla in Spain is an egg and potato dish that is cooked on both sides, and can include onion, veggies, and other flavors but ends up being a slice-able filling for a sandwich or delicious eaten with a fork.
Regardless, this restaurant is a great place to try authentic tortilla. We shared two slices; one slice with onion and one slice with artichoke. Delicious!
