Richard's Disposal

Richard's Disposal

I gave one star here because there is no half star…read more My trash pickup was scheduled for Saturday so I put my trash can out to the curb on Friday night. Saturday morning the Richard's truck goes up my street but instead of picking up the trash on one side of the street like they've done for years the driver decided to get in the turn lane and have his workers pickup on both sides of the street. But sure enough they bypass my house and do not pick up my trash. So I called their phone number and after a few tries ( their phone rings 4 times and then ends the call ) I finally get someone to answer. I told her about the missed pick up and she says she will look at the truck's GPS and return my call. I never heard back from her and my trash never got picked up. This is totally unacceptable. How the heck do the workers not see my trash can at the curb? Plus this is not the first time this has happened. Our rates keep going up yet their service gets worse. Picking up trash is not rocket science, there is no excuse for missing a resident's trash pick up. I also wonder if I'm the only one this has happened to, I'm willing to bet there have been many others. It sure seems like after getting their big contract from the city, there is no concern to provide quality service. They have their money and now they let the chips fall where they may. Maybe our city council should reconsider who to hire next time their contract runs out. Again, there is NO excuse for missing a residents curbside pick up.

I love the idea of recycling & Richard's gets it done for me at my place of employment…read more This company, one of two, service the area where I am employed & I find that they do a good job picking up the trash & recyclables. I've had to call to remind once or twice in the beginning when we first started to recycle, but since then, they've been on it... Doing a great job. Mr Clayton, Ms Troy, Ms Linda (I think that's the other dispatcher's name) do a wonderful job picking up our trash & recyclables. If I have to call in, Mr Clayton is sure to follow-up to ensure the job is completed properly.

The Green project is a must for any DIY, creative maker, home improvement peoples or…read morevintage/historic home owner. This multiroom warehouse offers a plethora of bits and bobs from donated and gathered home improvement wares. One time I picked up an old door, an old timey facet head and some hinges. From these super economical finds, I was able to fabricate a garden gate, using the faucet as a creative spin on a traditional doorknob or latch. I love it. Recently, I eye spied, a partially used tub of tile adhesive and several random tiles. They'd be the perfect solution with someone with a tiny bathroom or counter top that needed sprucing up. You can find doors, windows, screen, light fixtures, tiles, wood, paint, and a whole host of parts that you can't pick up at any big box store. Think of the green project like a thrift store for your house or creative endeavor. Be patient and diligent, as it can be hit or miss.

This is a very important spot to know about if you own a historic home in the New Orleans area…read more There is a huge inventory of historic buildings in the New Orleans area which suffer due to the challenging environment of the region along with time that results in ongoing damage to different parts of these old buildings and it is hard to find replacement parts. The Green Project is essentially a graveyard of houses that have been sadly torn down and the remaining good parts salvaged which allows current homes to be repaired with the remains of destroyed ones. The biggest negative here is the sticker shock prices of many of the items as you are no longer getting good deals on many of the items which might have been much more possible right after Hurricane Katrina.
