My son was a patient at the Bridgewater, NJ location; being GenPsych reported my last review and had it taken down; saying my son was not a patient... But he was from 4/4/2016 until 5/13/2016. He was termed at 6 weeks when insurance down graded his case and GenPsych could not get top dollar for him. I will gladly provide proof of this, if it is needed. Horrible!!! Run the other way, GenPsych is not a Behavior Center nor a proper Medical Center- as they may claim! This group of people will tell you about their doctors on staff, the daily therapist sessions, group programs and other mind blowing concepts in which you are probably hoping for to aid in your childs situation. What really happens is the group sessions are merely playtime and movies, the therapist is in charge but rarely in group with the kids and the doctor, is a nurse practitioner and the doctor is never to be seen or heard from. The doctors are not staff, they are 1099 and are overloaded and to busy. GenPsych lures desperate families in, proclaim your in "Crisis Mode" to get services rendered right away, make you excited but to only drag the child along just enough to make you think things are working then to do less than half of promised services. Problems such as ignored phone calls, failed correspondences, not following through with care and worse, leaving you in a harder situation like not being able to get into another doctor because the heavy anti-psych prescriptions you need them to refill you can't nor can you get an appointment with the doctor; oh and good luck getting back or into another child psychologist's office on urgent notice. This is an insurance scam, medical abuse and you need to leave GenPsych's phone number in the garbage. Be very aware and leery of their program and as explained by our attorney, there is no recourse or fixes for this ridiculous service except to complain to a medical review board. In closing, our insurance has been exhausted, our son is now worse and we are waiting for the appointment with the old psychiatrist without his medication. It will happen to you too. We just found out that our son has a brain tumor! Not Asbergers, ADHD, OCD, ODD or depression, like GenPsych states. If GenPsych had done what they promised and my son would have see a doctor, maybe things would have been better for him. All they did was have a nurse practitioner prescribe mind altering drugs. First I'd like to say I've NEVER had a bad experience at GenPsych. I've been enrolled there on and off since 2012 in the dual diagnosis program. GENPSYCH SAVED MY LIFE. Everyone that works there from the secretary's to the program directors and doctors to the therapists do an amazing job. They truly care about the patients. Also the ambulatory detox is great. You go in the morning and stay till the after noon to get your medications but then you go home to sleep at night. The detox nurse Margo is one of the best nurses I have ever met. The staff at Genpsych is more then willing to work with your schedule to make sure you get the care you need. I can only speak personally on the dual diagnosis program but from what I hear during the breaks most of the other patients feel the same. I have heard only a few people say they didn't like the program. If you are dealing with a mental health disorder or addiction Genpsych is the place to go for help. Horrible place. They promise the world but deliver nothing. They claim to be a medical/behavioral facility but the doctor never really sees the kids. My son was there for 6 weeks and he never saw him once. The nurse practitioner saw him for the first time in week 4 and they kicked him out in week 6. Due to a behavior issue which coincided with our insurance down grading and them getting paid less per day. The nurse practitioner diagnosed him with RO asbergers (this never gets ruled out because the doctor never sees him) OCD, ADHD, mood disorder, depression and ODD. All of which she prescribed powerful brain altering medicine for. Being she jammed them in in 2 weeks and never really observes him... Our son is only 10! We never received the group or family therapy and left worse then when we started. Turns out he has brain tumor.... Again, this great placed missed everything but they did get top dollar from our insurance for 6 weeks! Don't even bother, look towards Morristown or Philly for real help. read more

I was an employee at GenPsych. This is the most "for profit" company I have ever encountered! They steal from employees by not paying them or taking their 401k contributions, but most importantly, they steal from the clients by admitting those they are not able to serve and readmitting clients who have used all their insurance benefits and then hounding them for payments. The CEO and CFO are despicable human beings (and I use the term human lightly). I believe that because this is a difficult career to find employment with livable salary they have been able to hire good people that they then abuse. Clearly there are significant flaws in the regulations of this industry. Makes it difficult to choose between whether this type of care is better privatized or state funded. And FYI, they encourage their employees to write good reviews , suggesting you will be compensated for doing so, though I have never seen that happen. read more

I attended the GenPsych in Bridgewater location for the past few months, as a patient in the DBT track. My original goal when coming there was to stabilize myself and to get to a place where I could fully attend university without my symptoms getting in the way. In the last few months, I've done much more than just stabilize; I've grown tremendously as a whole person - because the staff at GenPsych doesn't only treat your symptoms - they treat you as a whole person. All that being said - it was by no means an easy road, as I was pretty resistant to treatment and made it clear that I wasn't the least bit interested in the beginning of treatment. The fact that I'm here right now is a testament to the GenPsych treatment team's expertise - specifically Aurora Clark, who was my individual therapist and dealt with me and helped me through the healing process. read more

When my doctor first prescribed the I.O.P. at GenPsych, I was admittedly hesitant to enroll in the program. Now that I am completing my program, I am exceedingly pleased to report that my experience was simply outstanding. I received excellent care, enjoyed all of the various group exercises, and can honestly say that I am in a much better place for having attended the GenPsych IOP. While writing this review, the lyrics of a popular song from the musical, "Wicked" came to mind: "I've heard it said That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them..." I'm new to Yelp and wasn't really sure what business I could expect to find on here. I've mostly seen people review restaurants or retail stores, so that's where I naturally went first. I'm so glad to see GenPsych on here as well. While I've written a few restaurant reviews on Yelp, eating and body image have always been struggles for me. I entered GenPsych's eating disorder program (HEAL) on recommendation from family and friends and was definitely hesitant at first. Confronting these kinds of problems is not easy, but my experience there was nothing but positive. I never felt judged, and received constant support from my counselor, Jackie. I've been doing so much better ever since. It may be scary at first, but this program is definitely worth it. read more

My daughter was in the teen general mental health program in Bridgewater. She was struggling with anxiety and depression and having a tough time making it to school for a while. A school counselor eventually recommended that we seek outside care. We tried other facilities but nothing seemed to work. After going to Genpsych, I feel like I finally have my little girl back. Her therapist, Michele did a great job. She always kept us informed and a part of the process through family therapy sessions. She also stayed in contact with her school, so that my daughter didn't miss anything. read more

Having heard CBT and DBT mentioned, I was curious about these forms of therapy and have very much appreciated attending the Informed Caregiver Support Group. I find these sessions very informative and useful, would be for any family member, I think - just wish they had existed 40 years ago! For me, as a parent, a presentation by a client who shared his personal life story with us was the highlight, a very moving and powerful statement. I have been through a number of partial care an iop programs, and I have to say that GenPsych was by far, the best. On my first day, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and the doctor doing my intake really took her time to truly get to know me. I was oriented by a therapist that answered all of my questions and then started program the same day. My therapist was awesome, and even thought I didn't like the groups at first, I really started to look forward to them. If it wasn't for GenPsych, I might now be here today. Thank you! read more

I brought my daughter in for an intake and had a really good experience. I was really nervous because I've never been through anything like this before. We checked in at the front desk and was greeted by a nice woman who offered us tea or coffee. She sat down and explained everything to us and made us feel very comfortable. Genpsych has truly help me create a better life. The staff cares about their patients. I found them to be compassionate, attentive and well-versed on the treatment needed for a full recovery for your symptoms. In the beginning, I did not receive treatment with an open mind, however without the skills I received from Genpsych, I don't know where I would be in my life right now. My child has been a problem child his entire life. We tried every method of parenting imaginable but without success. We enlisted the help of teachers, family members, friends and clergy and were still unsuccessful. Enrolling our son in Gen Psych's program was the best thing we could have done. I was a patient in the eating disorder program. I think they call it HEAL. Cheryl Jensen was my therapist and I just want to thank her for all that she did for me. The environment was comfortable and non-judgmental and the people there (staff and clients) were really nice. I feel like I really got some personal attention while I was there. Samail and all the other therapists were so helpful with my mental health and alcohol recovery. The one on one sessions with Samail and Carla helped my progress greatly. If you need help for depression or anxiety, this is where you should go. I've been to other programs before, but never really go much better. The counselors here now what they're doing and all of them have a ton of experience. The doctors were ok...but they're doctors...What do you expect. Either way, I would recommend GenPsych. My 9 year old daughter was in the Children's program at GenPsych. She was getting extremely angry all the time and had difficulty attending school. Abby's therapist really made us feel as if we were a priority, even though I know she had other clients to see. I'm grateful that I have my little girl back.
