Odors are common in facilities but this place isn't that bad at times. Rooms are usually shared with TV, most have windows, no phones in the rooms which is understandable. Furniture needs updating

I recently resigned from my position at Arbor Hills, and I feel it is my professional duty to…read morehighlight the severe operational and managerial issues at this facility. Unfortunately, this is currently not a safe environment for employees or residents. Toxic Leadership and Unprofessional Conduct: This statement addresses significant concerns regarding the current workplace environment and specific management practices observed within the facility, particularly involving the Administrator and the Director of Nursing. These practices are perceived to foster an atmosphere characterized by intimidation and a notable lack of professional respect. The Administrator's leadership approach is consistently authoritarian, which is considered incongruous with the collaborative and supportive environment essential for a healthcare setting. Employees frequently report being assigned unrealistic workloads and subsequently penalized for circumstances beyond their direct control. For instance, staff members have been reprimanded for minor infractions while simultaneously being denied the necessary overtime to complete assigned tasks, which are often deemed impossible within standard working hours. Furthermore, there is a perceived disregard for established professional standards. Actions such as offering gift cards in lieu of addressing systemic issues related to inappropriate workload assignments are viewed as undermining professional conduct and staff morale. This approach appears to disproportionately affect dedicated, long-tenured staff members, who feel unsupported and disrespected despite their commitment and experience. It is imperative that these concerns be addressed to ensure a productive, respectful, and professionally sound working environment for all staff members. Critically Unsafe Staffing Levels The staffing ratios at this facility are dangerously inadequate. For instance, the night shift frequently operates with only two licensed nurses (one RN and one LVN) responsible for 100 residents. This unmanageable workload places residents' safety at risk and puts nurses' professional licenses in severe jeopardy. Clinical Incompetence of Leadership There are serious concerns regarding the clinical competency of the Director of Nursing. It is widely observed among staff that the DON lacks fundamental nursing skills, including the ability to properly administer intravenous medications, manage a standard medication pass, or handle the patient admission process and PointClickCare assessments. A facility's clinical leader must be capable of demonstrating basic clinical competencies, yet there is a complete absence of this at Arbor Hills. The high turnover rate among licensed nurses is a direct reflection of this lack of competent clinical leadership. Questionable Compliance and Oversight Given the severe staffing shortages and clinical deficiencies, the facility's ability to legitimately pass state surveys is highly questionable. There is a strong perception among staff that recent regulatory survey successes were influenced by personal (Former employee from Arbor Hills) connections with state employees rather than by actual compliance with California Board of Nursing standards. Conclusion Arbor Hills suffers from a profound failure of leadership. The combination of a hostile management style, critically unsafe staffing ratios, the Administrator's intimidation, and a lack of professional respect and a Director of Nursing who lacks basic clinical proficiency creates an untenable and unsafe situation. I strongly urge corporate oversight and the state labor board to thoroughly investigate the practices at this facility. Until sweeping changes are made to both the administrative and clinical leadership, I cannot recommend Arbor Hills as a place of employment or as a safe facility for patient care.

This is a terrible facility, I won't recommend anyone leave their loved ones in the care of this…read morefacility. My father was there under 5 days and I pulled him out "MA". According to my dad they did but 5 mins of PT a day and none on weekends. They forgot my father in the toilet 20 mins. They didn't shower him. They didn't check on him. They came in to feed and give pain meds and that's all. The halls on the long term side smelled putrid. The call button in the room was broken and they didn't notice, my dad told them. My father ended up doing his own PT. I brought my dad home with extremely odor and bedsores. While going in to visit signing in wasn't not mandatory. The customer service is very low, asking questions and making sure my loved one is taken care of means I have attitude. Speaking in a regular tone but saying comments or asking questions they don't agree with means I'm getting loud. It gives of couldn't care less facility. I care for my loved one and their care wasn't there and that's extremely unacceptable. If I could give you any advice is look for a better facility. The admin director was puzzled when I mentioned this when taking my dad, it's hard to believe they are unaware their standards are low. Mine are not. My dad is now comfortable, clean, and happy at home.
