There are giant houses all around but this one is the biggest! I spent most of my time on the grounds since it was an outdoor wedding. There was plenty of room for the ceremony out front, (although half of the guests were in direct sun at 5:30 pm in March.). We had a grassy area with small round tables set up for a cocktail hour; and then a large open patio area by the pool was where the main meal took place. The pool area was spectacular with a beautiful slide built in and a built in table right inside the pool. There was also an in-ground hot tub in the pool area. There were lush green plants all around and lots of cool wood and rock formations as accents. The yard was huge! The only interior part of the house I saw was the room adjoined to the patio where the bar was set up. It was very spacious as well and I heard there were enough bedrooms to accommodate the entire wedding party of 12 to stay there for the weekend. Overall Hacienda de las Palmas is a beautiful, tropical venue in Northrn Broward County, and an ideal spot for an outdoor wedding or special event!

Devin is also an event planner so she assisted with vendors, and and all of the vendors she recommended were fantastic!! There were small things that we missed out on, like the fireplaces not working during the time of our stay, but overall nothing was enough of a bother to subtract even half a star from our review. We would recommend Hacienda de las Palmas to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding venue in south florida that isn't just the standard ballroom or beach vibe!!

However, the DJ wasn't good. He would stop between songs instead of mixing them one into the other. Or after a really good song he'd play something slow. Clyde and I went to the christening of the new yacht Grand Floridian. It was docked at its new…read morehome across from the Diplomat Resort and Spa. It's more like a ship then a yacht. I think it holds 550 people. The party started at 5:30 pm on the patio next to the yacht. They had an open bar with beer, wine, champagne, and cocktails. They also had a cappuccino bar. Servers passed a few hors d'oeurvres and their signature drinks made of pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice, and rum. It was very delicious. There was a stage set up with a great band playing. At a little after 6:00 pm there was a short program including a few speeches. Champagne bottles were broken for the christening and we were given glasses of champagne to toast the new yacht. After that we were invited onboard. We entered the yacht on the first floor. It was beautifully furnished with comfortable couches. We walked up the stairs to the second floor where we found several tables laden with food. First I ate a delicious paella. It was full of chicken and sea food. The next table had two chefs preparing chicken or shrimp stir fry with rice and/or noodles. The chefs were so nice and the stir fry was delicious. In the center of the room was a long table with rolls and butter, salad, asparagus, and round roasted potatoes. At the head of the table a chef was slicing pork roast. There was also a table with assorted cheeses and crackers. The food was all perfectly cooked, the pork was tender and lean, and it all tasted great. There was plenty of tables and chairs, high top tables, and couches. How nice to be able to eat sitting down. On the third floor was a table with all kinds of sushi and an ice sculpture with cocktail shrimp at the bottom. More tables and chairs made for a comfortable meal. There were several bars at various places on the yacht, so you didn't have to go far to get a drink. Near the end of the trip the crew brought out trays of desserts. There were several different desserts to choose from. I had chocolate covered strawberries and a little cup of creme brûlée. I also had a chocolate and raspberry dessert. I don't know what it's called but it was delicious. The cruise itself was very smooth. If I didn't see the scenery changing when I looked out the window I wouldn't have known we were moving. I probably should have gone out on deck to appreciate the view but it was a choice between all that food that was inside and the outside view. The food won. This was definitely a five star experience, but I deducted one star. I called Charter One Yachts a few times trying to get information about the event. Each time I called a woman answered and I felt like I was annoying her. I thought my questions were fairly simple. I asked where to board the yacht, where was parking, and would they be serving food. She was not friendly and I never got a straight answer. The Grand Floridian is a yacht made to host parties, weddings, and special events. The food and drinks were delicious. The crew was wonderful. It was a lot of fun.

The party packages were reasonably priced, and communication leading up to the event was clear and helpful. On the day of the party, we were only allowed to arrive 15 minutes before our scheduled start time, but the staff had a team ready to help carry everything from our car, which made setup much easier and was greatly appreciated. The party itself was a lot of fun, and all of our guests, especially the birthday girls, had an amazing time. My only criticism is that the ending felt a bit rushed. I completely understand that parties have a set timeframe and that schedules need to be maintained, but cleanup started before the kids had even finished eating. Floors were being mopped while we were still saying goodbye to our guests, which made it feel like we were being ushered out before the celebration had fully wrapped up. That said, I still think it was well worth the price. One of the biggest perks is that you're allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. There are several restaurants in the same plaza, and we ordered from Jet's Pizza, which offered a discount when we mentioned we were having a party at Rock N Tiara. Overall, despite feeling a little rushed at the end, it was a fun, well-organized party experience.
