After reporting to Fort Bragg, I hit up General Jackson's to buy all "the crap" I needed (new beret, patches, flash, etc). This place is pricey but none of that stuff is cheap ANYWHERE. The beret I got was pre-shaven and pre-shaped (yes, it still needed some work, but the slave labor was already done)...and they sewed on the flash while I waited. I could have gone here for ONE stop or gone into the dreaded Clothing & Sales to get probably half of my stuff, a crappy beret and have to run around to various places to get the stuff they didn't have. No one likes blowing money on uniforms, but when I have to - I want to make the experience as painless as possible. When I need more crud, I will head back to General Jackson's. read more

I've been coming to General Jackson's since arriving at Fort Bragg in 99'. The store seems to have everything, when it comes to basic soldier gear (boots, socks, PT uniforms). With that said, everything does come at a price. Although conveniently located close to the Yadkin Road gate entrance to Bragg, General Jackson's is your typical large military surplus store that is catered to primarily the Army (which makes sense). There aren't too many places around Fayetteville that have as much inventory as General Jackson's, which is a good thing for them. If I had one complaint, it would be that the salespersons at this location aren't exactly the most proactive when it comes to assisting others. Perhaps it is in their business model to do so. When coming into this location as a soldier for three years, I knew what I wanted to get and didn't have much interaction. In returning to this location as a veteran, the layout hasn't changed, yet it would be nice to have assistance on other items that are much newer within the market. Just an observation. Alas, if I were to get Army gear at decent prices, I would strongly consider using my CAC card to go on post to the PX and make a purchase. However, if I really needed something quick and didn't want to go on post, I would still go to General Jackson's. Just expect paying 15-20% more than you would anywhere else, due to the convenience and high inventory availability. read more

If you're new to Bragg and need something, General Jackson's has it. Not gonna lie they are a bit more expensive when it comes to uniform items, for example hot weathers, but they always have them. I went to Clothing and Sales 4 times looking for my size in hot weathers and never found them; got them on my first trip to Gen J's. Additionally if you need sewing done these guys are FAST. Almost always get my sewn uniforms the next day, and if you're just popping in for beret, they'll have it done while you're checking out at the counter. So.... while not very well stocked with appropriately priced gear are helpful or enthusiastic staff, I usually don't have much negative to say about General Jackson's. That ended today. There is a sewing "shop" in the back. This is where they seem to put the slowest moving staff members. I walked in today to have brown canvas sewn onto the knees of a pair of tactical pants. They have the canvas (although I brought my own just in case). They have the appropriate machines. The have the knowledge as they regularly sew guillie suits. I was just told "no". No explanation as to why. "I don't even know where you can get that done", was the only follow up. Well, the people who said they could do the job without hesitation, and will be getting all of my business along with anyone I can send their way, is Airborne Sewing & Cleaning. All said, go fornicate yourself, General Jackson's. I hope one day that the Privates of Ft Bragg discontinue all business at your location. read more

I've been here a few times this fall. I noticed their prices on boots were significantly lower than the mini PX on post (on Honeycutt & Reilly). That was some time in October, and I didn't check other places on post for boot prices. Every time I've been here customer service is in a neutral stance: they aren't avoiding you or being rude, but they aren't approaching you and asking what you're looking for in the store. I know some people like to be left alone and others prefer the assistance. Take that how you like. They have a wide variety of gear, but watch out because it'll tank your bank pretty quick. Sometimes they have certain ASU pins that clothing & sales in the mini PX do not. Besides boots and ASU needs, I can't say much else but I'll update as I go. read more

This place is a great last minute stop for the things you may have forgotten or must have on short notice. However, you will pay a high price for it. Something as simple as bug repellent was more than 3 times the cost of Wal-mart for the SAME exact product. If you have the time, do the research and compare prices before you buy! If you are military or law enforcement, I HIGHLY suggest you research your options online. There are several online retailers and direct buy programs that you can buy from at a fraction of the price. There aren't a lot of other places to shop for gear in Fayetteville, but the fact that this place is a monopoly is no excuse for crappy customer service. I bought a backpack and tried to bring it back a week later when a seam ripped about 12 inches the second time I used it. I'm still irritated that even with tags they won't take it back for anything but store credit. Anywhere that sells supplies to the military that doesn't feel responsible for carrying an absolute crap product (for $120!), and even worse, isn't interested in making it right, doesn't deserve any of our business. MEDIOCRE, at best. I only gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because I've bought some equipment here that no other store had at the time I needed it. Their stock can vary. If its "payday activities" somewhere in Division...everything "special" is sold out (i.e. Chilean wings, etc.) The quality of their products is another complaint of mine. Try stabbing your newly purchased jump wings into your starched ASU shirt...crack...ooops, the pins bend like its plastic. What can I say, "you get what you pay for". And finally, the worst thing that a business establishment can have for BUSINESS are worthless employees.... employees who say "umm sorry, I cant help you right now because my manager is on a smoke break". Well, I say... "I AM SORRY, cause I'm not waiting 15 minutes for your manager to finish her smoke break and wasting my $200 here for a pair of Oakleys". Instead, I took my business elsewhere. I enjoy shopping at general Jackson's because the staff is helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Sometimes they can be quick.

I really only come here as a last-ditch effort to buy something I need. As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices are marked up a bit high... the selection isn't bad though. If you need something sewn, definitely hit up one of the local Korean places... the sewing services at General Jackson's are as overpriced as their stock. read more

Worst customer service ever. I have been there three times now and still can't return it. First time I called ahead of time and asked what the policy was. They sad they could look it up by my card. When I got there the lady was rude and said I don't know who told you that but I was not me and we can't do that. The second time I went back with my receipt now they would only put it back on my card even though it was a debit. I didn't have my card so I have to go back another time now. So rude and disrespectful. Can't wait for some other big name store to come in here to this place can go away. Sick of them being rude and having high prices. This is the place to get any beret you need. They have actual pre-shaved/shapes berets that look phenomenal. The staff was courteous, fast, knew exactly what I needed, and even sewed the flash on while I was waiting. Yeah it's little pricey, but a fair price given the great service I received and how good my beret looks. Highly recommended. read more

Awful customer service and even worse management. Employees spouses can be spotted inside the store and heard cussing and yelling at the actual employees. Well, they are a bit pricey! The store looked cluttered to me, also. And I don't get it how they work, a simple job that was done in Korea only took three hours, takes them a whole day! That being said, I had three uniforms sewn in Korea that took three hours and cost me only six dollars, where here I had just a fleece sewn and it cost me twenty dollars! Place is very expensive and the people that work here are rude and they will look at you but try to avoid you as you wait in a line that is 7 people deep. This place is absolute garbage. I am stationed in Alaska and I needed one specific item from them. The total came out to $13.00. I had to put in a zip code for estimated shipping, standard procedure but the cost of shipping was $29.90!!! Just out of curiosity I put in my zip code from Hope Mills still a $10.29 shipping fee. (I know I can just pick it up on the way to work so stop nit picking) I didn't condone this shop while I was stationed at Fort Bragg and now I really don't!
