I recently attended Gemuine Academy's October 3rd lash extension training in Houston, and unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed with the experience. The course was advertised as a 7-hour, in-person training from 11 AM-6 PM, covering Classic, Hybrid, Volume, and Mega lashes. The advertisement also listed lifetime mentorship, unlimited refreshers, academy access, marketing tips, and a kit as included benefits. Unfortunately, the actual experience did not reflect what was advertised. The instructor arrived late, and students were left waiting outside while the room was prepared. A significant amount of the scheduled class time was then spent on selling additional lash kits rather than instruction. The hands-on training was also very limited. We spent a considerable amount of time practicing lash fans, but much of the instruction on actual lash application consisted of watching videos rather than receiving direct, hands-on instruction. The course was scheduled to end at 6 PM, but the instructor stated that she had a flight to catch and wanted us to wrap up around 4:45 PM. Afterward, we spent approximately another hour waiting for certificates instead of using that time for additional education or hands-on practice. I was also disappointed by discrepancies with what was advertised. Lifetime mentorship was listed as an included benefit but was presented as an additional upcharge during the course. The advertised kit also showed tape as an included item, but the instructor ran out of tape, and sponges were not provided. Other essential supplies were also unavailable. As someone who has been a licensed esthetician for several years, I understand that no training course will be perfect. However, I went into this course expecting the in-person, hands-on education and included benefits that were advertised, and I don't feel that I received what I paid for. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this course to carefully clarify exactly what is included in the tuition, how much hands-on instruction is provided, and whether the advertised mentorship is actually included before enrolling. I have reached out to Gemuine Academy directly to request a refund and hope they take this feedback seriously. read more

If I can leave zero stars, I would. I attended this class and had a frustrating experience. They skipped me for the upgrade everyone else got when I tried to reschedule the class I missed. They never actually held a new session. I have screenshots to back this up. read more

Could give 0 if I can I tottaly wasted my money. I took the class in Toronto, Canada. They made us wait without knowing where is the class??? Class stated on website that it would start at 11 but only untill 12, the instructor came unprofessionally and plug in with her phone and started teaching. Everything is super unclear and unprofessional. She even didn't know how to take the classic lashes properly. They can blind the beginners! read more

I got SCAMMED. It was a marketing ploy to teach you lashes while the whole time they are not "genuine" about any changes being made and the products and promises they made. I sent an email to Gemuine Lashes and this is copy and pasted from what I sent. To whom this may concern, I am reaching out to the manager of Gemuine Lashes Academy. My name is Marie Dejesus I took a class with your trainers Dalina and Tina who instructed me to email you regarding a refund. I appreciate and understand that this is an affordable class. However, there were quite a few things missing from the class that was expected and was written on the website prior to buying and booking the class that your company did not meet. I am asking for a refund because the trainers were not transparent with omitting any steps of the training, the hours provided, and missing materials of the class. 1. Your website stated that 2 lash trays were provided. Only 1 came in the bag (0.05 cc curl 15mm) and 1 classic. The classic set was missing and HAD to be shared with the table. If this was the intention in the beginning your instructors should have been transparent. 2. No Live Model: We are aware we don't bring in a model. But the website stated there WILL BE A LIVE MODEL performed by the instructor. You have this on your website when I booked and still to this day looking at the website. I asked the instructor why there is no live model but she said there were legalities involved that prevented her from providing the live model. So instead she performed it on the Plastic Eye mold. Again, If this was your intention, we should have been notified at least to be transparent. 3. Time: time was supposed to be from 11-7 The 2 instructors did not start checking people in until 11:45. Class did not start until 1. Break was at 2 pm for 1 hour Class ended and certificates were given out at 6. We come here for Theory. I have been an esthetician for 10 years. Lash classes usually was 2-3 days. While I understand you have to pack everything in a short amount of time. There shouldn't be room for instructors to have free time. 4. I paid for my PHYSICAL certificate and while everyone received there's I did not. I understand that it will be mailed to be but there is a lack of preparation and detail. 5. Free classes for life. You have now changed your free classes for life to $15 up charge when we come in for refreshers. No one received an email with this change and your website says both $15 charge but in the flyers it still says free. I have screenshots of both which was taken a few hours ago. 6. Plastic eye mold. Your intructor Dalina had mentioned that the plastic eye mold was a "gift" usually not given to other classes. Later on I found out from Tina at the end of the class that the plastic eye mold and the trays were swapped out instead. Again, to reiterate if this was the intention the class should have been notified as soon as this change was made to be TRANSPARENT and genuine. I would also like to add, as a personal opinion of mine that the materials in themselves that were swapped out or what have you, were very cheap. If we paid for $85 we expect $85 worth of products. Your instructors were selling Amazon spoolies in the front and NOT ONE was provided in our kit so we can brush our work with lashes. Those would cost $5 for 100 pcs. The plastic eye mold is very cheap to have been swapped out for my Classic Tray as well. This did not justify the swap that we were not even informed of. In summary, as an Academy like yourselves we expected your class to be conducted professionally and with transparency. You provided us with expectations and your instructors or yourselves did not meet them. Therefore this is false advertisement and would like a refund for my class. If you need any further information or proof upon what I have stated in this email I will be happy to provide you with the information you need. Thank you, PS- Htey refuse to answer calls or emails. They finally picked up my call and the instructor Dalina picked up. She said she was BOTH instructor AND customer service. read more

Fake class they take money and they teach you nothing, last min they change venue and did not give certificate they are scam and fake

This "lash academy" is a complete scam. They sell a course advertised to take place at a well-known hotel venue, but on the day of the event, they text you a different location last minute. The course I attended in San Diego was a disaster from start to finish. Upon arrival, the instructor admitted it was her first time working for the company, and they were completely unprepared. There were no supplies available initially, and we waited almost an hour just to receive lashes. The "included supplies" consisted of two identical tweezers, one shared bottle of glue, and some tape--far from what was promised. I also paid for a physical certificate, but the instructor told us she hadn't even been provided with those. I've tried contacting this company multiple times via email, text, and Instagram. The only time they responded was after I left a complaint on their public comments section, which they conveniently turned off shortly after. It's clear this isn't an isolated incident--another individual shared with me that the same thing happened to her. If you check their social media comments, you'll see numerous people begging to be contacted, yet the company ignores them. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and warning others to avoid this scam. read more

THE WORST! I took a class and pre-paid for a physical certificate given to you on the day of your class. During the class, we were told that they didn't have the certificates and that they'll be mailed out. During the class, I also purchased a fan but received a box with the fan missing. They must have given me the box for the fan on display. I have asked numerous times for my items and it's now been over 2 months! They will lie to you and tell you they'll fix the issue but after, they'll ignore you. I have contacted them several times through their Instagram and through email and yet to have my items shipped to me. not refund me.I 100% regret working with this business. read more

didn't go over half of the material listed, they were missing tools and prodcuts. wasnt even shown how to do a full in. Gemuine Lash Academy - Promise to pay back - Vocational & Technical School Near Me - Troy, Michigan

My wife was "hired" by GEMUINE as a lash instructor. The first weekend they sent her out of town to work and then reimbursed her for her travels according to plan. The next week after her travels they didn't pay her and sent her to two more places the following weekend telling her not to worry and that they would pay her. Afterwards they disappeared and never payed or reimbursed my wife. She ended up paying about 1800 dollars of her own money "working" for this company. Avoid them like the plague. They are absolute scammers. read more

Definitely not what I was expecting. Not in a good way. The class to me was maybe worth $50 no more than that including the materials that we received and didn't receive. I signed up for the Illinois class that was gonna be held in Rosemont on June 21st. I signed up to receive a "preordered kit" and a preordered physical certificate of completion that we would receive in the class. Didn't receive a physical copy because they didn't have me on the class list. I received a digital copy and am supposed to be having the physical one mailed. All of which wasn't worth the money. I'm currently still waiting k. The physical one to come on the mail to this day and it's July 1st 2024. The class was on June 22nd 2024. Also, It's very unprofessional to cancel a class in the wee hours of the night almost 3am and not offer a refund. If you the company cancels! Yes, You offer to switch the class in a text. I state yes I want to switch but I don't receive the location of the other class. No one else responded to me after that. The next day comes no response so I try to do some digging on the website to find the location of the class that I was switched to which was supposed be in Chicago downtown which they had this location posted on their flyer stating it was the location of the class for that day which was June 22nd 2024. I go to the location and to find that it was not being held there. Thankfully for the wonderful workers at the Loews Hotel in downtown Chicago for giving me the correct "new" location. I'm not from Chicago and this entire ordeal caused me extreme anxiety and having to pay for parking in an area I wasn't familiar with and wasn't expecting to pay for. Now the information and class was okay but not with what I paid. But the $85 that was for preorder of "the kit" but they told us in class that we could upgrade our kit for an additional $49 which gave us a few more lash trays a plastic eye mold, and a few more items. Still not worth the price. The advertised flyer stated there would be refreshments, a "live" model at which the instructor stated it could be one of "us" meaning the individuals taking the class could be a model. No! That's not okay. It was completely falsely advertised and I don't suggest this class or this company to anyone. The brief information given was not worth the money. You could learn the same information on YouTube. If I would have looked at these reviews before i purchased this class I would have NEVER paid for this. All the reviews are saying the same thing! I just wish I took more time to research. read more

This class is a absolute joke! First of all classes post pone by 2 1/2 hours. Secondly, there was technical difficulties we couldn't even see the screen. Our instructor was not prepared. Kits were not consistent. We left the class with no real answers of what was happening after we got back from lunch break and found out. Our class was canceled. No refunds no definite answers. Nothing I don't know how you conduct a business like this. This is truly sad that you're scamming people the way you're scamming people there was a group of girls that were here ready to learn and it's disheartening that people are trying to get a start in your lash career and you guys are just out here taking money from people that can use this money for an actual class an actual course that's gonna teach them the skills I need to start a successful Lash career! read more

This place is a 100% scam! I signed up for the course and after that, I read the reviews. Everyone warning about this company to be a scam! I was trying to contact them and get my refund. However, we understand your situation and are happy to offer you the option to transfer your registration to the next available class." I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER CLASS, I WANT MY FUNDS REFUNDED! There's needs to be a 0-star feature here... This is a whole scam. They promised 11am-7pm. They were checking people in at 11am (without IDs), started at 12pm, went to hour-break at 2pm, came back at 3pm, and ended the class an hour early at 6pm. They promised Nichiban tape, it wasn't Nichiban tape. It was some cheap ass paper tape for less than $1. They promised 2 lash trays, one classic, one volume. Got 1 volume tray, and everyone at the table had to share ONE tray of classic lash. They also said to only use longer length to practice, which means only 11mm-15mm was to be used. That's 6 strips, each table had more people than that, so not everyone got to practice. Also everyone knows you have to start from classic to volume, but they started to teach volume and people are more confused than ever because they don't even know how to place lashes and their directions. They said we were the only class who got plastic eye mold for free, but I've seen other with it on TikTok. They said we got the plastic eye mold from them as a gift, but then said it was given to us in exchange of the missing tray. They promised free retakes of this class, but they raised the price to $15 as we're sitting inside waiting for them to start the class. Some locations are still free and some are $15, it doesn't make sense. They promised lifetime academy community or whatever it's called, but they're blocking everyone who informed others about this class. And threatening to sue people who did that. Their Instagram videos shows that the kit comes with a mannequin head, we didn't have that. Although it also didn't say in their description, it was on their Instagram account, and the only course they offer is the $99 course. If it was a higher-price class then I wouldn't be complaining. They also don't have any info on their instructors. I don't even recall seeing the instructor I had on their account. They were taking walkin students as well, delaying everyone else. And also selling the kit to walkin students, leaving students who pre-ordered the kit with nothing. They were pushing responsibility around, telling people to email this email address, call this and that number for any issues, but would not respond to emails or phone calls, actually blocking numbers as well. A man threatened to sue a student for asking for refund after almost 20 phone calls that student tried to get them on the phone with. Then another student asked politely for refund and they responded with "all sales are final, they don't offer refund." It's a whole scam. You'll learn more on YouTube. I suggest apprenticeship under a salon if they offer. Reconsider those quick "masterclass". You need at least 1 week of knowledge to actually begin to practice. read more

TOTAL SCAM! DO NOT BUT INTO IT! I called the hotel that they were supposed to be having their class at and they had no reservations or events under Gemuine Lash Acadamy. I called their customer support, I emailed, and I texted but no response after the THIRD rescheduling/delay of their course. I attended this class back in May 2024. I had received a text message a few minutes after the start of class, that the location was changed. It was held at one hotel, and switched to another Hotel that was a minutes away. It was a hassle because I was sure to arrive to the previous location on time, only to be late to the new location. I was wanting in person, hands on training. Was told that supplies would be available to only find out it was a way for them to have you just buy their kits. I already had all my own supplies, and mannequin to practice on versus a piece of wimpy plastic they gave. I til this day have not received my certificate. I have been texting and emailing no response. The excuse the instructor had was that her partner took all the certificates with her, and that she was on a plane. There was no way of getting a hold of her. She had us text the number in which we received the location, with our names and emails and address. We were told that they would be mailed out. What a horrible way to handle business. Yet want our business to buy their products because they are so called better and trustworthy than other brands. But cannot respond to their students. read more

I paid $196 for the lash course, lash kit and certification. Less then 24 hours before the day of the class I get a text message stating the location/date changed to a new location 2 1/2 hours away and to a new day. This seems like a scam and I would not waste your time. read more

there is a very serious issue with the safety and knowledge of teaching false eyelash application. There is glue involved and sharp instruments and to work for this company they tell you no experience is required to teach a class.!!! they produce a product and are trying to get in on the other end of selling the product by having these classes at a cheap cost promising they will teach you the full spectrum of being a lash technician in eight hours which is absolutely fraudulent and impossible. some of the teachers they hire are genuinely trying, but have to perform acrobatics to adjust to the administrative errors and changes and lack of support. The students are given minimal chance to excel under these circumstances and the public is at risk of getting eye damage and an eye infection because of it. Whoever is responsible for this has no common sense or morality. They are making handover fist money by claiming that they can do something that they cannot do , using instructors that are not certified or licensed in cosmetology , and dont care about their students or temporary employees. the class was so good and very informative. i learned a lot and it was a good experience. instructor was amazing.

My experience was disappointing. I attended a class on Mother's Day, which was the first why! I realized that date after I already booked. So anyway, this school was unorganized and unprofessional in many way's. First the class location was changed last minute and we received a text message about it the night before at almost 11pm. Like really. Then the kits that we paid for were nowhere near worth $85, we felt ripped off. On top of that, you guys charged $5 for the plastic stencil to practice eyelashes on, that among other items should have been included with the darn class. The instructor had no personality and was dry. You guys could have at least gave us a small manual or something of instructions for the process of doing lashes. The instructor also used her phone as a projector and she kept getting phone calls and had to stop multiple times to reject the calls. We were also asked to wear black for photos. However, the photos were never taken. I wouldn't even have been in the pictures anyway just because of the experience, but I wanted to mention that. They had items for sale in class that should have been included with the kit because really the $85 went to where, exactly? There were no refreshments provided at all even though they stated there will be. One more thing, they didn't even provide notebooks or pens for us, she asked the hotel to give us some. The seating was also horrible, why have some people sitting with their backs to the screen and have to turn around to watch the screen and write to take notes. SMH How about booking a proper venue and setting up properly. Someone else told me she got there a few minutes early and they wouldn't even let her in the class because it wasn't 11, what a joke. Overall, disappointing experience. To give them credit I think had it been a different instructor I believe the experience would have been much better and also the certificates are adorable. read more
