Very friendly, fast service. Short in cash for bills, I sold a couple of gold earrings that were missing a pair or we damaged.

I went to this pawnshop with someone else and I was like "oh no" it's a no busy Friday afternoon, and when we walked in there was 3 ppl already ahead of us and one worker actually working, the other woman in the store isn't doing anything. The younger woman (Kiara) definitely doesn't like her job. Arguing with a customer about something he doesn't want to do. She was very rude and took forever to get a customers items. As she went to retrieve them the older woman just sat there and continued on her computer as though none of us were in the store. After 10-15 mins of waiting for acknowledgement another person comes in and now the line starts to move 6 of us now. The older woman starts to take ppl, she finishes with the guy in the red and calls us up, my friend is paying something off and I'm browsing, she asked "are you guys together?" We both responded with a nod, at this point I just want to go, by the way the gentleman with the black shirt was in there when we got there and was still being "helped" when we left. After listening to everyone else complaining about how they work, and verbatim "the guys are much more faster and nicer" I'll just find cheap items online or eBay. read more

Love the old staff some of the new females don't know a lot about sneakers, electronics, certain things which is very annoying when you pawn something and you take it at one pawn shop, but as soon as you go to another your treated differently and they don't care they give you a smug look and say Yeahhh we don't take that and have the most dumbest reason behind it. I love Gem I have history with them but stop hiring pretty faces and get some more knowledgeable female workers or teach em. Westchester square is that spot, Fordham is bougie full of pretty faces smh, and dykeman is small but lit my man's work there he hook you up if you really need. Fordham will see you standing there for 6 min then ask oh can I help you just to say we don't take that cmon bruh. Or it needs to be 15% charged shorty plug it up for 5-10 mins. If I could leave 0 stars I would just for how terrible the so called manager is at professionalism and this location in general is at customer service (with the exception of 1 person). From the start, I felt a bad vybe as soon as I walked through the door close to closing time as I had thought I had called ahead to let the location know I was on my way from work, only to find out I spoke to general customer support (which that rep never clarified) and not anyone at this store. Outside of the young man who came right to service me, everyone else in the location immediately came off negatively. This young man who was helping me was kind, courteous, and professional, but when he was having trouble searching for a quote for me on a set of Peavey Thump PR15 speakers which I was previously quoted by Alicia for approx $100 per speaker, the so-called manager at the site barged herself into the discussion and from the start was extremely rude. When explaining the source for current pricing and where she can draw comparisons online to simply help with a quote, she quickly cut me off and jumped to the conclusion thats the price I was asking for, which was wrong (who goes into a pawn shop expecting full price when selling an item). She then proceeded to talk to me like I was some scum on the street, and I kindly told her she did not need to talk to me that way. She then felt the need to sit on her high horse and throw her "manager" title at me, and telling me she "did me a favor" for letting me in right at closing time, not knowing that I am a manager myself for the largest financial news and data analytics company globally which one of our core values is delivering platinum level customer service. Again I told her the way she is talking is no way to speak to someone. In the end, she threw a BS quote at me for $50 per speaker using the quote for the incorrect model which I told her several times was incorrect, this lady has no idea about electronics regardless if this was my first experience. Personally, I could care less about the money as I was trying to get the speakers off my hands for spring cleaning, but even when I got the quote she tried to belittle me and the quote, and for the last time told her the way she was talking to me is no way to talk to customers and is completely rude and unprofessional. In the end she rejected her offer, and I gladly left the location speakers in hand politely telling her sarcastically, she'll make it very far in life with that attitude. For those of you wondering what to expect in a quote, thanks to the rude manager she threw her reasoning for a low quote (albeit using a quote for the wrong model) was because corporate (Gem Pawnbrokers) requires their employees to offer no more than 1/4 to 1/3 of the actual value. Again, I could care less about the money, but this was a terrible experience. This location (with the exception of the young man) is in dire need of a management/employment change and extensive training in customer service / professionalism. I would never step foot in this location again, and unfortunately living in the area, I have to see it everyday on my way to work. Overall, I believe corporate should also take this into account as from the beginning, the customer service rep I spoke to on the phone could have told me she wasnt on-site, again misleading clients. read more
