Seriously the best gelato I've had...in the U.S., Italy, and Germany. They offer a limited selection, but the quality is off the chart...handmade in the back. My favorite (so far)...strawberry cassis. It's a tiny place with a couple of tables on the sidewalk...and, a cute bathroom. Service is lukewarm (at least for the German-challenged), but I'm too focused on the gift they're giving me to care much about idle chatter.

Der Verrückle Eismacher was the only ice cream spot we tried in Munich. They have two other…read morelocations in the city. We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 4:15pm). The Alice in Wonderland theme is interesting with mushroom painted tables, cheshire cat decor, etc. Service isn't the friendliest unless you ask specifically for guidance. Our server didn't explain any of the flavours but we heard another server go through everything with a different group. There were 18 flavours to choose from (all labelled in German). Prices are €1,80 single, €3,50 double, €5,00 triple and €6,50 quadruple. Cones are €1,00 extra. They also have drinks but I didn't see a single person order them. - Double scoop (€3,50) - we went with apfelpfannkuchen (apple pancake) and erdbeer kalamansi (strawberry and kalamansi). For our free taster, we chose the Augustine's hell (their beer flavour) which was better than expected. The kalamansi was tart and tangy. I'm surprised they had it as you don't see kalamansi often. The apple pancakes was just as described. Will satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. Cash only. 3.5 stars.

Prices are probably a little high but still acceptable (three scoops in a cup for €4.50). It is nice that they give an "extra-flavor" on the spoon in addition to your choice. The food, coffee service was fabulous. Busy from opening and a great ambience and attitude exuding from every level of this business. The location alone is 5*. This has been my favourite location for 32 years. Sitting here for breakfast makes everything feel better. Even the customers dogs seem happy to be here. Here's hoping the world can return to normal soon and we can return.

Bought a very tasty pretzel roll and a bottle of deliciously refreshing limeade to enjoy during a stroll through the Gardens. Perfect!
