This was such a happy find as we departed along the narrow, winding streets of the Lake Como area for Milan. We were debating where to have breakfast and, suddenly, an easy parking spot presented itself in front of an attractive restaurant with a big sign advertising breakfast, pastries, coffee, gelato, etc. It is not an easy thing to pull off the road in such a place and to our joy, the restaurant turned out to be way beyond our expectations. We began with pastries and cappuccino and the whole-grain croissants were the best croissants I have ever had, including in Paris. The locals had snapped up most of them as we noted, but we were able to snag the last two in the case. The single waitress/cook/cashier/server was a delight. She single-handedly prepared our delicious breakfasts (fresh-squeezed orange juice, veggie omelets, beans, salad and toast) and was most eager to please us with her cooking. As we were leaving and passing by one of the most elaborate cases of gelato we have ever seen, she offered to let me pose behind the counter so we could get a better shot. We insisted that she be in the photo as well. We highly recommend this immaculate and friendly place with views of beautiful Lake Como across the street out of the totally glass storefront. Reluctantly, we had to depart and tear ourselves away from this beautiful vacation haven. read more
