My sister and I went to Gee and Hayes recently together for a treat. I wanted my hair dyed (simple touch up) my sister wanted a trim cut and blowdry. We showed up on time for our appointment and were kept waiting until eventually we were shoved in the very very back of the salon, alone and no one bothered with us for quite some time.
Someone eventually came and dumped hair dye on my head and then left me again. Meanwhile, My sister gave very clear instructions about trimming her hair and fringe. The stylist wasnt overly interested in listening and as a result cut the fringe way too short so it looked ridiculous! When my sister voiced her concerns the stylist wandered off to a manager and the two of them just pointed, whispered, laughed at us and never returned.
Eventually, two hours later someone came to wash my hair. (For the record, I did hairdressing in college and I know that there is a cut of point with the activation of hair dye so I was sat there for an hour and a half longer than was necessary) during this time, neither one of us was offered a drink or just acknowledged in any way. abandoned it felt like.
When they washed the dye off and blow dryed it, I have reasonably short hair and it was only as we were leaving the salon that my sister noticed the back of my neck, behind my ears, on my ears, my scalp, down my back, all over my neck and my forehead was all dyed brown. I have pictures if Gee and Hayes ever want to dispute this.
I probably didnt make enough of an issue over my dyed skin because my sisters fringe was now an upstanding quiff and she was bordering on hysterical.
Add this to the fact that even though she clearly stated to the stylist that her hair doesnt keep curls, the stylist insisted on giving these ghd curls (probably to hide the terrible haircut) so while she waited the 2 hours for my hair to finally be washed the whole thing on her head had dropped and the end effect was like looking like she was dragged through a hedge. It was so bad, it was funny almost (my perspective only).
In the end we just wanted to get the hell out of there! My sister was trying her hardest not to cry, I was trying not to lose the plot after spending what felt like a life time on my own with dry splodge hair dye on (it was only SEMI for goodness sake!)
Even though the issues had been brought up two hours before, everyone in the salon just kept a wide berth because no one wanted to deal with this mess, or atleast try to improve on it.
It was only when we had to pay that we brought up the issue again, that the lady behind the desk mentioned oh yes I overhead something about that, which is nice she overheard but still no one said anything to us.
I don't feel anyone was genuine, sympathetic, helpful or kind Just basic customer service qualities.
A small amount of money was eventually knocked off for the terrible cut and (blowdry) no money was knocked off for my hair colour.
What was meant to be a nice, rare treat between two sisters ended up with one sister crying hysterically as soon as leaving and myself feeling taken advanatage of, angry and robbed. read more
