So I became open to the idea of ordering from Europe but was worried about the complexity. Google discovered that Harsted Antik had my pattern, and Google also very kindly translated the site into English for me! I found a number of different offerings of my pattern and ordered two of the parcels that were offered. Then came the hard part, arranging for payment and shipment. But it wasn't hard at all! Through email, I dealt with Kristian Harsted-Simonsen, who made it all simple. He invoiced me using PayPal, so payment was a breeze. And he combined two orders into a single parcel, so I paid just a single shipping charge. I was in Copenhagen a year ago but didn't know about the store I would have loved the chance to meet Mr. Harsted-Simonsen, but don't know when I'll have the chance to be there again. They have an interesting site, and I'm sure the store itself is fascinating, judging from the photos on the Web.

It was nice to see the "record shop culture" is truly universal. The owners couldn't have been any cooler, and man do they know their stuff. Even if you may not be a fan or follower of a certain type of music, a record store owner will still know all about it. As soon as we came in and did our introductions, the owner (knowing my friend is a hip hop DJ) pulls out a record he just got in, and played a "break" for him. My friend is a pro, yet he had never heard this break before. And that is the beauty of the record shop. You can listen to music for decades, and yet there will always be something you don't know about. Whether you dig for it yourself, or the shop owner will bust something out to show you- the finding of a new gem is an amazing feeling, and what keeps you digging for more, never ending. This shop had a wide range of genres, not to mention an impressive amount of music, for the size of the store. It was broken down into three rooms. There was also a very nice selection of 45s (7") as well. Had I not been moving on to Denmark and Russia after Sweden, I would have walked out of there with a huge stack of records. Another surprise I saw was a good amount of cassette tapes, which for good or bad is starting to make a come back as well. I can't wait to get back to this shop again, so I can have a proper dig, and be able to bring some of it home.

To me it seemed like they had what would be the best items from a really good loppemarked. Didn't end up buying anything, but the prices seemed pretty fair. I noticed they have a lot of set of things (chairs, cups, etc) that you could buy all together. The woman working there was very nice and offered to answer any questions I had. They also sell teas and you can buy a coffee there as well.

These are some of the finest pieces of porcelain in the world. I looked at it as if it were a museum of exquisite plates, cups, glasses, platters, service ware, and bowls. There are walls of examples, as well as explanations of how its made. I'm sure I spent between 30 to 60 minutes in this store. Is everything the very best quality? Yes. Are they beautiful? Yes. Is this worth seeing? Yes, especially if you happen to pass it. Did I intend to buy anything? Absolutely not. None of these items are in my price range. If you added up all of my serving ware, plates, cups, etc. I'm sure the total value of my entire kitchen is less than the cost of a plate here. But that doesn't mean it's not fun to look. Don't worry, no one is going to make you feel uncomfortable because you are clearly a gawker, not a buyer. Surprisingly, there ARE many actual buyers in the store. There is so much great stuff in here and at such reasonable prices. Glass pendant lights, ceramic pottery table lamps, glassware, dishes plates, Royal Copenhagen. Countless Danish brand name porcelain pieces, art, vases, dansk, candleholders. Downstairs there is a basement full of dish sets. Owner is super friendly and willing to make bundle deal too. Yeah definitely check this place out. Summer time there's usually a sidewalk sale/ sort of flea market a few times a year on this street. Definitely worth a trip out this way.
