We would say "do you want to go to Jenny's?" And he would go NUTS. One weekend, he was there for one day when he was attacked by multiple dogs in her backyard. We were told it was a "scuffle". 3 days & a trip to MSU Animal Emergency Hospital later, he passed away from his injuries. I wish I could show the pictures, but I know they would get taken down. He went into septic shock & then went into cardiac arrest, he was only 9 years old & we loved him dearly. Like I said, he went there for 8 years, which is why I give 2 stars. He loved going & we always felt comfortable sending him there, up until it was his last time ever there. Just know before sending your pup here (unless it has changed) that the dogs outside are left unattended, with no cameras. We truly love Jenny & the care she offered, and in no way are we saying to never send your pet here, but PLEASE use discretion before sending them. I dont want this to happen to anyone else's beloved pet. The trauma of all of this that went down will truly haunt me forever. He looked HORRIBLE, his vet said that the attack went on well over 30 minutes. How no one heard it/saw it is beyond me. Unless things have changed & she has hired someone to be outside with them or something to help avoid this in the future, please just decide if your dog's life is worth it or not. Our dog was our entire world, until he wasn't because of human error. We have no doubt Jenny loved Copper & we truly have forgiven her. I know she loves what she does. I am wholeheartedly hoping she has changed procedures/protocols/etc. so this NEVER happens again at her home. We miss our sweet boy so incredibly much, over something that we recognize as an accident, however, it was completely avoidable. We know Jenny is as heartbroken as we are, and in no way am I blaming or accusing or anything of the like, or in no way do I want her to go out of business. Just please, please, please, decide if you want this to happen to your dog or not. We never thought it could happen to us until it did. Our sweet boy lost his life & we lost our best friend because no one was out there watching. The extent of his injuries was just horrible. He endured one surgery to get skin grafts before he passed away on February 8th, 2024. I think we will always be devastated, and the memory & images of his mauled body will never, ever leave us.

The staff was always so incredibly understanding and empathetic to his situation and made every accommodation for him to feel safe. We really appreciated the text message and photo check ins to know how he was doing. As nervous owners it really helped reassure us he was in a safe loving situation. The penthouse option allowed the staff to be completely hands off but still give him the freedom to be inside or outside as needed. Although we had to say goodbye to Odin we will continue to take any future pets to whiskers, they truly care so much about each animal that comes through the door!

Staff was friendly, kept us up to date on how our boy was doing. It was our first time leaving him since we adopted our dog. So the small updates helped ease our mind. I believe our boy was feeling sad towards the end of our vacation and wasn't eating much just days before we arrived home. Again the staff was amazing , kept us up to date, worked with us to help Bruno eat and lift his spirits. The grooming part, we are very happy with. Bruno came from a troubled past, sadly he was mistreated and he suffers from anxiety and has a fear of nail trimming and baths. But thankfully we found someone who is very patient, kind and Bruno responds very well with. He's a very affectionate dog and soaks up all the love and attention he gets when he goes in for his grooming

Review for Family Friends Veterinary Hospital…read more Over the years, we've taken a lifetime series of hounds and bulldogs to Family Friends. I've always wondered why they chose the name Family Friends. At first, I assumed it was because pets are members of the family, and the name had a nice ring to it. Over the past few days, I understand it differently. Family Friends are truly friends to our family. It's a large practice with a remarkable staff--every one of them kind, caring, knowledgeable, and professional. Many practices achieve "friendly." Family Friends has created something more: a place where each staff member steps forward like a true friend, without hesitation, and goes the extra mile. That sets them apart. This past week, as we worked to connect with specialty veterinary services for our dog, Family Friends exchanged supportive emails, answered questions, and listened patiently as we tried to talk through tears. They took time with every visit, showed genuine care, and did everything they could to help us move forward. Their kindness has made a very difficult time feel less overwhelming. Friends are awesome; friends who also know what they are doing--each and every one of them--are deeply appreciated. We do not yet know the outcome for our dog. What we do know is that, whatever lies ahead, we have been supported by wonderful people, and their care has meant a great deal to our small family of two people and two dogs. Family Friends has lived up to its name in ways we never expected. - Carol G.

Over time, I noticed that the customer service felt performative--what some call "West Michigan Nice." I expressed in a survey that I wished for more authenticity and genuine service. The office manager followed up with me, asking for examples, which I provided. Shortly after, I was told they had decided to part ways with no prior warning or explanation. Instead of a conversation about any supposed concerns with me as a client, they sent their lawyer to inform me that my relationship was being terminated--not because of the survey, but due to a "pattern of interactions" over the years. This was the first time I had ever been told anything like that. If there were actual concerns about me as a client, why was I never given a warning in nearly 8 years? The lawyer also stated they would not refund me for my Vaccines for Life program unless I signed a non-disparagement agreement, which I refused. Reading through my dog's medical records after being terminated, I discovered comments about me that I had never been made aware of. It felt as though they had been secretly building a case against me while still taking my money for years. This experience has left me deeply disappointed and disheartened. I entrusted them with my beloved dogs, particularly my pup with Addison's disease, and never expected such cold treatment from a place that claims to be compassionate. Additionally, after my survey response, they changed their survey format to no longer ask, "What could we do to be more satisfactory?" Instead, they now only ask for rating scales--further proving that they only wanted feedback that made them feel good, not feedback that would actually help them improve. I wanted to work this out with them because my dogs received good medical care, but at the end of the day, I realized this wasn't the place for me or them. I don't recommend this clinic to others for these reasons. This review reflects my personal experiences and opinions.
