I'm a high net worth individual in charge of an estate/trust with inherited retirement accounts as…read morewell as inherited properties I plan to put in a LLC to rent out for cash flow as a small business entrepreneur. Their website claimed to help with everything I needed help with so I filled out the "free consultation," in hopes of getting a CPA to help me plan for my increasingly complex tax situation. I received the email that I would first need to send in or drop off a current tax return and investment statements. Simple enough I thought until I showed up at the office with the requested documents on March 7th in the afternoon. The unprofessional service I received was just hurtful. The woman in the office who I believe to be Krista Lynn told me without looking at the documents and without knowing my situation told me "We're not a good fit for you." I've been around for a long time when someone says that to you even though you fit the requirements for service but they still turn you away it's usually for one discriminating reason. I hate to think that in 2025 people are still racially motivated to do and say hurtful things or stand in the way of a person's attempt for success but I know all to well what this feels like and there is no mistaking it. She didn't even attempt to give me a legitimate reason why she denied me a free consultation. She did however try to tell me that their services for clients range from $300 to $3000 a month stereotyping me as a black person that couldn't afford it hoping the big numbers would scare me off. She also tried to move the goal post going from just needing a tax return and investment statements to now needing the trust documents as well as the deeds to the properties. Which aren't difficult to get but she didn't meantion that until that moment and it just felt like more excuses to deny me service and get me to leave. The worst part is having to explain what just happened and why to my son who was with me to witness this disgraceful event. So yes one star for discrimination wish I could give less. It took me a few days to respond to this situation as I figure out what steps to take next and I hesitated to post this at all but it must be known. All it takes for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing.

Will was a treasure... he said they could clean it all up and get us in order. He gave me homework, which I completed in a few weeks or so. I got back to them... crickets. Nothing. I let it go. A few months later, I found out in these exact words, "Will isn't interested in doing any work with you". Ouch. Everything was kind and professional, and to be ghosted like that. There was no reason for it. Well... This review is now a good reason.

We used this firm in 2013 when my Mom passed to do three 1041 trust returns. They came highly…read morerecommended. The three returns, keep in mind, were nearly identical, especially the two for my brother and I. We were assigned a lady they said would do a great job. What that really meant was she'd be great for McDavid's bottom line, not ours! We did most of the data gathering for her ahead of time,so we had pre-prepared a lot of the summary calcs in Excel worksheets, and had 1099-Bs for the rest. Plug n play return preparation. McDavid charged $250/hour back then. The estimated amount fot each return was $500 each, but additional hours would be billed at $250 hr. This rep we got went over, and over and over every factoid, apparently redoing every calculated value we provided ( none of which were wrong). She'd call and ask about line items we'd already worked out and turned in. So, she apparently didn't trust college-educated engineers to use Excel unless she recalculated every single datapoint herself. At $250 per hour. That's my guess on how the bill became as big as Mt. Everest. We had gotten the info turned in early March and expected to file by April 15. Nope! Instead, our rep said she'd have to file three extensions for all three returns. Then took her sweet time getting them done. The final cost was $1500 per 1041 (similar in effort to a 1040 return) x 3 returns, no multiple return discount. No explanation for the overrun on costs we expected either. We were shocked to learn our returns were finally ready and the bill was $4,500, three times what we were led to expect they'd cost. No one even communicated why to us. Our returns were handed through the sliding glass window, and the lady who prepped them didn't come out to say "Hi" or anything. I was livid. If you're in the upper 2% and you don't care what your tax preparer charges, then these folks are probably great for you. As for my family, we've always watched how our money is spent. We felt like we got shafted by this company, and we'll never use them again, nor can we recommend them. Three almost identical returns are not an excuse to run out the meter like a cabbie in NYC taking advantage of out of towners. If you use this company, you'd better insist on a very detailed estimate. Not an approximate one along with an hourly rate, and then trust they wont overcharge you. The bright side is we learned how to do our own 1041s thanks to McDavid! Filers beware.
