I went to Block in Branford last year to do my 2017 taxes and they reviewed my 2016 return and found a glaring mistake made by another nationwide chain, which operates out of booths in stores. The Block preparer who I've used now 2 years is obviously much more competent than the personnel I've used at the bargain booths which actually for me (Some interest and Dividend income, no itemizing) was right around the same price as Block. It took more than a month to get the other chain to admit its mistake even though it took less than five minutes to point out the glaring error once they were finally willing to look at it. I'm new to yelp but in general I don't give out 5 stars.

My first appointment was a bust. Spent 45 minutes with an advisor only to be told that they…read morecouldn't help me and I needed to see someone else. Then a second appointment was booked but it was for weeks later in another office out of town. A couple days after the first appointment, I got a call from the branch manager asking why the first advisor didn't help me and telling me that my second appointment should have never been booked. They were gonna honor it anyways. I was promised a discount. The day of my second appointment I took time off work. I get to my appointment on time only to be told that the 2nd advisor is not showing up. The branch manager apologized and said that they tried to call me ahead of time. That call came at 11:36am when I was already driving over for a 12pm appointment. I didn't answer because I was driving and it was a strange number calling. I stood there waiting for an offer to see another agent or something. I got nothing. When I later listened to the message it was full of excuses. Maybe this God's way of protecting me from a company with no professionalism. However, now I'm still stuck. Stay away from this company! I would give a zero if I could.
