It's one of the nicer city community centers to use and offers plenty of parking and a kitchen. The rates are extremely reasonable costing only $150 for four hours and $25 for each additional hour. However, you must book in advance and you have to book for at least 4 hours. You can't making any changes to your reservation after it's booked so if you think you may need extra time, book it just in case. You are also responsible for cleaning up and putting up tables and chairs so make sure you allot enough time for that and that you are mindful of the decor you choose (glitter).

The team of government service employees, first, were very courteous is assisting me through the process from start to finish. It wasn't busy during my visit, though I'm sure at other times it can be. The office waiting area is pretty small. I'm not sure if they get standing room only in there, but I could see it happening. I will add that in attempts to curtail office overload, they have pretty speedy and smooth processes that get applicants through pretty quick. It was impressive. Another way to avoid a long wait is to sign up for an appointment online. It's very easy to do. Be on time and you'll certainly get in when it's your time apply. It's important that if you're going to apply for any of the many licenses that FDACS provides, make sure you read and fully follow the requirements. If you don't, you'll certainly not get what you're seeking on your first visit. And since they take in many customers daily, they're not going to give time for sob stories. I was working through the application process for around 20-25 minutes, moving from the computer then to the photo processing area. Service was great in my case. I can say anyone who follows the guidelines on the FDACS website will have no problem getting their needs met here. We'll see how the next visit goes in 7 years! But I may only have to do that online. I'll read up on it!! LOL

I thought there were laws about being hassled at voting sites, especially at the SOE. Then once I got inside, signed in, voted, and had trouble getting the machine to take my ballot. A random person standing right next to the machine turned around in time to see the front page of my ballot (I was told by a clerk there to turn it right side up) and this man actually read the name of who I had voted for, and shot me a mean look. I don't believe he was with the SOE. Why are people loitering inside like that and nosy after they've cast their own votes?

Security is tight at the main entrance so be prepared to lose the belt and all of your accessories so they can scan you through. It reminds me of an airport, as you have to put all your bags and belongings into a bin for X Ray. The guards and homeland security are very nice but they take their job seriously and I appreciate that. Currently, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the building is mostly closed to the public unless you have a special appointment. They generally aren't letting anyone in right now unless you work in the building and have a badge. Snack machines and a mail drop/ATM are located on the ground floor. Restrooms are available there as well. I'm glad to work in a clean and secure building like this and the best part is that it's located right in the heart of downtown Jacksonville.
