I've lived in Wilkeswood for about 2.5 years and my experience overall had been mediocre at best…read more From outside, the apartments looked good with maintained lawns, family-friendly and pet-friendly sidewalks and decent neighborhood but the reality was far from that. They mostly had dated apartments with old appliances and very awkwardly built kitchens. If you get lucky, the apartment won't have bug or roach problems and good neighbors. For the price they charged the residents, the amenities provided were the bare minimum. Mine didn't even have a microwave (experienced it for the first time) It was common for residents to switch apartments every year. This was because 1. The management was notorious was increasing the rent by a significant amount every year. Every. Single. Year. PA state didn't regulate rents so the landlords were free to increase it as per their wish (sigh) 2. The residents hoped the new units might not have the recurring problems in the old unit. Please thoroughly vet the units before you decide to move in here. Wilkeswood might be located in a good neighborhood but might not meet all your needs.

This was my first time getting an apartment and I don't know how the process for an apartment in tales so I don't think asking questions would warrant an attitude. I was asking about a 2 bedroom apartment for myself ( I work from home for Geisinger Hospital ) and she kept implying that I was trying to move someone in with me, after I had mention 3x its just me. To add insult to injury, she said if I did she would find out.. Really .. SO ALL BP must be liars SMH.. Before I went into the office, took a tour of the grounds, to see the community and I was followed by one of the maintained guy in a truck. When I told him I was just looking around at the community, he said the office was back on pleasant drive and I can't drive around private property. I understand however the whole drive around behind me things was not inviting for someone looking to get an apartment. My experience for this place is a 0!!!! STAY AWAY

I remember when I was getting the key to the…read moreapartment I contacted the Dunmore Exclusives employee I had corresponded with and I met them on a street corner in Scranton for the key to be given to me, which was awesome. What do I remember from living there? Well I remember that it always seemed like the landlord controlled the heat even though I was paying for it. Like, they came and insulated the windows with plastic which was cool, so you would think the heat would actually accumulate in the apartment. Well, I would turn up the thermostat and nothing would come on. In the winter I would just hole up in my room with a space heater and chill in there. I was like 21 so expectations were very low. The parking lot was horrible. There was like this shrub that stuck out into the middle of the lot and when the trash would get picked up they had to back the truck in but it had to make like a 15 point K turn to back in so it was this comedy of this truck right outside my windows switching gears and having the back up beeper going at like 6AM. Some real Wilkes Barre shit. What else? Well I couldn't open the fridge all of the way because the kitchen was so narrow, I didn't even really register that until my parents came over and my mom was putting some groceries in the fridge and commented on that. The stove was fucking nasty but that was half my fault. Sometimes the water would be brown? I don't know, again it's Wilkes barre. My friends and I would smoke inside the apartment which I'm sure the other tenants loved. One time there was this bang, like a howitzer went off outside my window and shook the whole building and another time I woke up on a freezing Wilkes barre winter night, cozy in my bedroom with the space heater to a woman banging on the front door of the building next to 155 W. River screaming, begging, crying, and pleading to be let back in. They also didn't give me my security deposit back but my mom actually sued them in small claims court and won the security deposit back, just for the principle of it. For $625 per month I thought it was luxury!!!

The outside of the building is nice but the landlord and his management team at Dunmore Exclusives clearly has a total disregard for their tenants. In the wintertime the parking lot is neither plowed or salted and makes getting to your car nearly impossible. The dumpster at the back of the building is rarely emptied and overflows with refuse. The coin operated laundry machines in the basement and the elevator are constantly out-of-order. My problems with the landlord and his employees started a few months after I first moved in. I informed the landlord that packages left for me in the lobby were being stolen. There is a security system in the lobby and the landlord could have easily reviewed the video surveillance footage and identified the culprit but he couldn't be bothered. Though there is a coded-entry system for the front door, the lock was broken on the back door and anyone was just able to walk into the building. In the last three months I lived at the apartment there were four different water leaks. The Wilkes-Barre fire department was at the apartment twice and couldn't get in touch with either the landlord or management. Everyone in the building was evacuated and the local news was there. I gave an interview to one of the reporters and things went from bad to worse at my apartment building. Management stopped returning my calls or doing any repairs on my apartment. A massive leak ruined many of my personal items and caused the ceiling in the bathroom to cave in. Despite my repeated calls, the landlord did nothing. A leak in my closet caused dangerous black mold to grow on the walls and this risk to my health was ignored. Things haven't improved at West River Apartments since I moved out. I read a story in the Times Leader where Leonard Piazza, former Luzerne County Election Bureau director and tenant at the building, complained about a raw sewage backup in the basement. The county health inspector was later called and the landlord, once again, pleaded ignorance. This is a terrible apartment building and no one should have to live like that.

I NEVER write reviews but the practice of Tina Gantz and…read moreElena Katarsky was so appalling, I feel the need to warn people about what they are getting into. I was looking to rent for 1 year hoping this realtor would than help me buy 1 year later. I wanted to build a relationship for repeat business. This is no longer the case. I looked at my dream apartment on a holiday weekend. It was a Saturday. I worked furiously to fill out my application because properties are a first-come, first serve basis. Tina indicated there was another person who was interested but was not as far into the application as I was. During my HOURS spent with Tina filing out the application. Elena called. Reception was spotty and Tina could not get whatever information Elena was calling about. I got in all of my paperwork Saturday. As I said, it was a holiday. Sunday passed, Monday passed and finally on Tuesday, I got the devastating email that another applicant had beaten me to the apartment. The kicker-- the apartment had ALREADY been rented while I was looking at it! These two woman WASTED my time. I even canceled appointments following because the paperwork was taking that long to fill out. Elena had called Tina that afternoon, as I stood in the apartment to notify Tina the apartment had been rented. This is poor management and VERY unprofessional.. Elena should have communicated to Tina the apartment was no longer for rent. If she was unable to communicate it to Tina Saturday, it should have been communicated Sunday or Monday. Three days should have not went by before I was notified. I also paid for a $75 background check that never occurred. I am still waiting for a refund. It was nearly impossible to get either women on the phone after I was notified the apartment had been rented. The bottom line is, this office lacks communication and professionalism. I would never recommend them to anyone. This was truly and eye-opener for me at the cut-throat world of housing. My heart was set on this beautiful apartment and now I am scrambling to find somewhere else to live.

There are many things nice about these apartments such as the appliances kitchen and bathrooms, but…read morethere are many downsides that heavily outweigh the pros of living here in my opinion. To begin with the downsides it costs me $1430 a month to rent an apartment here with 1 dog, in this areas you can find places with a fenced off yard, whole rental house, and parking/garage for less than $1000 you can even find places like that around here for $750-$850 if the time of year is right. Another negative of being here is the living packed in like sardines, I didn't initially consider this and I didn't consider many other things. I am extremely fortunate and I have a college fund that has been currently paying my college tuition and my rent, this is my first apartment and I honestly wasn't thinking about price because of my situation (I know how stupid), What I'm trying to communicate though is if you're someone who actually works a job or you're actually trying to watch money and you're not spending it frivolously this is an absurd rent to pay and you can find a such a better place for so much cheaper. There's people here from New York and Philly who this this rent is normal and therefor move in, I'm telling you it's not normal for this area take your time looking this ain't it. I don't know if I've been a d!ckhead in the past to any of their workers but I do know their property manager Jane is extremely unpleasant/more so plain rude, no offense to you Jane it is what it is. If you're reading this and haven't already signed the lease or put down the deposit I'm urging you and begging you to look elsewhere I'm sorry if this affects your business Lexington but it's the plain truth in my opinion, peace out everyone and have a blessed day. Tl;Dr looks amazing on the outside hellish for someone who likes peace, privacy and genuine respect not 2 faced dubious treatment looking from the inside... and NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY FOR WHAT YOU CAN GET OUT HERE.
