THE CLOAKROOM MANAGER MADE ME CRY…read more I went to a Rebel Rebel night (22/10 - 23/10) and had to deal with the rudest cloakroom employee (the manager) I've ever seen in my life. I had a ticket to get my jacket. The cloakroom manager said it wasn't enough, she needed my initials. I told her that no one asked for it when I gave my jacket. She insisted they did because they were trained for it. I insisted they didn't (two or three times more) and she always said, "but they did". The truth is, no one did when I went to the club (my friends were beside me and they saw that, plus, I was fully sober). I also told her I could show a 2015 picture wearing that jacket she said she didn't care. As if that wasn't enough I was called "rude" by her even though I was not, not even for a second. I was just stressed and upset by the situation and the way she was handling it. Not being believed and having to deal with someone who treated me like piece of s*it was awful. I cried the whole way back home and I was lucky enough my friend managed to deal with the situation while I was about to cry and couldn't handle myself. RUINED MY EVENING. I'm extremely disappointed. This happened in the rebel rebel night (a bit before 3am). Don't recommend going there at all, unless you don't mind crying on your way back home.

The first thing I saw was a hysterical girl throwing a glass at some dude's head, it smashing on said head, and girl being dragged out screaming. Thankfully that was the only time I saw that - Market Bar plays hip hop and R'n'B. More or less, music for students who don't earn any of their own money yet but love to by champagne and pretend they're a superstar rapper or somesuch. Everyone is looking sexy/glamorous and throwing down some poses. It kind of depends how into that kind of scene you are - after a few visits I decided it was enough for me. Too pretentious.

Downstairs is a great bar area where the prices are quite reasonable and it is possible to hang out with the talent before the gig starts. There are 2 pleasant and clean smoking areas outside downstairs and upstairs. The live music happens upstairs in the intimate little room that oozed atmosphere. I was one of the first up there and felt at home already. It is possible to stand at the bar and get a good view of the stage or sit at the back on the comfy sofas but the best place to be once the artists are on stage is right in front of the stage on the dancefloor. One Criticism would be that the beer is dearer upstairs than downstairs.

Do you go out of your way to find 'quirky' or 'vintage' clothing to express your 'individuality', and try to look cool without it appearing that you've made any effort to do so? Do you see yourself as a moody but intellectual type who really has never had very much in your life to actually feel moody about? Are you a grown adult in your early to mid-20s, but think it's 'cute' to carry a bag or purse or wear a shirt with a picture of a retro cartoon character from your childhood on it? If so, this could be the place for you. An indie poser's paradise is how i've always seen this place, and I spent a fair bit of time in here only due to playing gigs. It's a subjective thing I know, but I just find the clientele too posy and pretentious for my liking. Still, the comments about this place as a music venue are quite accurate. A lot of up and coming bands do pass through the doors here, so it really can be the place to catch the 'next big thing' if that's what you are into. If you regularly attend gigs here, it is quite likely that at some point in the future, you'll be turning to your friends or people around you at a big gig and saying "I saw these guys before they were famous!" (famous meaning that they've now appeared on the inner pages of the NME a couple of times). On a less sarcastic note, it is a pleasant enough place inside and you're not likely to get caught up in a punch up on a Saturday night, unless you find yourself in a really heated debate with somebody about whether or not White Lies sound anything like Joy Division. If you are a genuine fan of indie music, then this is probably the best place in Nottingham to come to, whether you are pretentious or not.

They let us in and decided that one of our "Brown" friends was not dressed properly because he had zippers across the knees. Went inside and management yelled at us cause one of us had a hat on. The level of rudeness was unbelievable for a place that was empty! When we asked for a refund on the drinks because of the hat situation the manager threw us out. He walks us outside where we ended up having a shouting match with the manager and the bouncers. The bouncers (who were clearly angry meth heads) began to physically shove us. Stay away from this dump, it needs to be shut down!!
