I loved the sides it came with, particular these very delicate fried, mashed potato dumplings. These were exquisite!! Portion size is generous and the sides come in a separate platter (potato dumplings, beets, gravy and fried potatoes). For a Tuesday night, it's quite busy and I would recommend reservations for a table. The interior has the old, rustic charm. Waitresses wear the traditional long dresses too. Service is very nice and they have English menus available. Very nice ambiance. Salad bar is also available too, but it was just fine, pretty good by German standards, but as an American, its not enough vegetables (think meat salads and pickled things). Prices are double compared to inland restaurants. Still worth it. Bring cash/ no cards accepted! Bring coins for bathroom access. Remember to return your beer glasses to retrieve your deposit!!! (It's added automatically to your bill)- so easy just to walk off once you're done.... Mustard, mayo & ketchup cost money. With all of my other experiences behind me, I have to say that both currywurst and bratwurst were good but not amazing. I think I liked the currywurst a little more though I wish there had been more heat and less sweetness. That's just my personal preference. The fries were great. For some reason anytime I had fries or potatoes in Germany they tended to be pretty great. As for the experience, it wasn't too posh. You're eating outside off of a plastic tray. They give you silverware but it's just a step above fast food like eating at a cafeteria or a camping ground. I'm not sure how well they speak English here (or if they're pretending they can't speak English). I asked for soda and the woman said "we have soda" while staring blankly at me. She didn't respond to my questions about what kind of soda they had so I just asked for flat water instead. She filled up a glass with what I thought was soda and later realized was carbonated water. It was disgusting. Oh well. I think the food is a bit average for what you're paying for it but if you're in the area I suppose there aren't very many other options.
