That is the Doner Kebab! Words cannot describe its amazing God given awesomeness. It has the most perfect bun, and has much of the normal fix-ins in a normal Kebab but their Turkish sauce and red cabbage take it the extra mile! I seriously ate one everyday and sometimes twice a day for over a week. Oh and here in America the Kebab/Gyro meat is never really lamb, but a lamb and beef mix, not here in Kandern! It was so beautiful, this is the food-gasm high I am in search for, it has never been that good! When you bite into it you get a little resistance from the bun, than breakthrough to warm lamb meat and juciness followed by cold crisp tomatos than you get pimp slapped with their red cabbage and Turkish yogurt sacue......I need a moment! The only reason I know they have other stuff is because my friends ordered their pizza. The lamb pizza is insane. It has the softest dough/crust and great Turkish tomato sauce with lamb shavings, some thicker for meatiness and texture while others were thin so they can crisp up. These guys were great, they even brought us free drinks and sat with us while we watched soccer. When I come back to Germany I will go straight here for some Doner Kebap! By the way, I have had many other state side wannabes and it cannot even come close. I pray God will grant them passage to Seattle to bring joyous blessings to our taste buds and our souls! Visiting the boarding school I graduated from 21 years ago, my wife, seven-year-old daughter and I booked two nights in this quaint gasthouse in town. Here's our experience. 1) Check-In: Booking online, you don't pay until you're physically at the gasthouse. Coming in late on a Friday, the owner left our room keys in an envelope taped to the window near the entrance. The keys are bulky, but do fit in a pocket. 2) Rooms: To fit three of us, we booked the apartment, which was two rooms and a bathroom. There's plenty of closet space in each room, bedding, towels, and even water. A few things to note. There isn't AC, but there's a small fan in each room. It didn't cool the room to my liking, but it wasn't horrible. The restroom uses rain water to help save the planet. We're all for that, but the water in the toilet did smell like sulfur our entire stay. The restroom doesn't have ventilation. 3) Amenities: The rooms come with a hair dryer, a heated rack to dry clothes, etc. There's a small breakfast for six Euros per person that comes with bread, jam, eggs, meats, cheese, yogurt, cereal, juice, and coffee. There's parking nearby. We were given free bus tickets into Basel. 4) Service: It's a family run business and the family lives on site so it's easy to connect if you need anything. 5) Location: It's in town around the corner from a popular doner kebab shop and within walking distance to the pool.

The meals took a bit tardy, approximately 10-15 mins since it was ordered and they were not brought out together, with long waiting times between each plates, which was bit surprising especially since the the time we arrived, the restaurant did not seem to be busy at all with many empty tables. But once the food arrived, it was delicious! The Pho did not come with the usual Bean Sprouts, Basil and Lemon, which was surprising to me as the owners were Vietnamese. The pho also seemed like it was severely missing something! Cannot figure out what it was! The service was excellent, the food presentation was excellent but the actual food taste was mediocre at best! I am willing to come back to give this place a second try!
