Review for a colonoscopy? Yep! I'm going there! No ifs, ands, or butts... this was the best place I could've chosen for this procedure.
Let's "ass-ume" most of you over the age of 50 know the drill of the prep. It's as awful as you've heard. That being said, the rest of the experience was flawless! I pre-registered on the phone so check in was a breeze. Minimal waiting time, then I was brought back to the pre-op. The nurses were so knowledgeable, compassionate and caring! Ana, Lyn and the others health care aids were amazing! The anesthesiologist, Dr. Gamoso, was personable and professional! She explained her role in the procedure, described the medication, and reviewed the after effects(which were none for me!) of the anesthesia. We chatted like old friends and she put me at ease... figuratively and literally! We even "crack"ed a few jokes.
Dr. Brand came in bright-eyed and bushy tailed, in a cheeky little bow tie and a warm, re"ass"uring smile. I was impressed by his gentle bedside manner and his overview of what to expect. He also told us how he came to be interested in this medical field. He looked healthy and fit, as did all the other professionals I encountered at GSI! No scraping the bottom of the barrel here! There's nothing worse than going to a doctor or nurse who looks unhealthy, like they don't take care of themselves. Once Dr. Brand finished his assessment, I was "ready for my close-up" Mr. DeMille...
I was wheeled to the "rear" of the office, at the "end" of the hallway to the well-lit, examination/ operations room. It was so bright in there, it looked like a full moon! Like taking a quick cat nap, I was all done in about 20 minutes! Recovery was a breeze, no nausea or brain fog and I received a clean bill of health! I wasn't bummed out at all when I was provided with follow up instructions. And then I was on my way! My hubby provided my ride and moral support - I guess you can say he's my booty call!
All punning aside, I wish anyone who gets this delicate procedure here the same impeccable service that I was given! Pros all around! But, I must say, I'm glad it's all behind me now! GSI kicks ... well, you know! The end. read more
